We started working with Bachman Roofing in July 2021 to install solar shingles on our roof. Following approval by our home owner's association (HOA) on September 30, 2021, we expected to start roof installation. Bachman roofing was informed that our HOA required all external work to be done 180 days after approval (March 30, 2022). In November 2021, I asked why it was taking so long. They started to proceed at that time. In early December, they said the township rejected their application. They needed to remove 6 solar shingles in the back of the house. I agreed and noted as long as they do not remove the south facing shingles we are fine. South facing collects the most sun energy. They requested an electrical permit by our township Dec 27, 2021. This was good for 6 months before they would have to reapply for new one. The solar roof was installed end of April and the south side installed by the first week of March 2022. We were surprised they did not initially install the south facing shingles. They told us this was not approved by the township. I called the township and they said this was not true. This was the first red flag of Bachman lying that was transparent to us. With confirmation from the township, they added the south facing solar shingles to our home, but the electrical work did not begin. The electrician came to our home twice and spent hours there. We were then notified they needed more parts. By this time, the HOA end of March deadline passed. For a third time we confirmed the electrician coming to our home on April 18. This was confirmed; however, the electrician never showed up. We called Bachman to complain. Their 'general manager' called and said he did not know anything about solar but he is calling because he was asked. I requested they figure out how to get an electrician to complete the $100,000 project we are paying for. He said they will work on it. We have now scheduled a time for the electrician the 4rth time. We want our solar completed.

      Dear *** *****,

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to *** ********’s complaint.

Since receiving your notice, we have been in contact with *** ******** on numerous occasions, and are please to advise that the installation of her project has been completed.

The installation and operation of a solar roofing project, can be a lengthy process. Requiring site surveys and multiple permits including final inspections. We do provide our customers with an Installation Timeline & What to Expect brochure, as a reference.

The customers power company, plays a major role in the installation process. We look to the power company for 3 primary components: Interconnection Agreement, Permission to Install (PTI) and Permission to Operate (PTO).  Unfortunately, we have no input on the turn-around time for these processes.

As of today, we have confirmed that **** does have *** ********’s information to move forward with her PTO.

Based on the information provided we respectfully request, that you will find that we have addressed *** ********’s concerns.

      Most Sincerely,

      Amie H****

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: nothing has yet been resolved. I still do not have solar shingles that provide electricity to my home; they are sitting on my roof and not providing me electricity. This is still an open issue. Due to Bachman submitting incorrect paper work and not following up with **** over many months, **** now just received paper work they requested and are now reviewing the documents. Bachman never received permission from **** to install the solar shingles so we are iin the beginning stages of the **** review process since it has to start all over once **** realized what Bachman did. **** may still request additional work from Bachman to be done to the solar shingles to accommodate what **** needs to make our solar shingles functional. Until **** confirms the solar shingles require no further work from Bachman and they approve installation of the shingles (which they still have not done), this issue remains open.

This is a complicated process and Bachman needed to submit the right paper work. They did not so this process is still in the beginning stages. We must hear from **** to understand when the work is complete. I would like this complete too. My home owner association approved installation in September 2021. The solar shingles have been sitting on our roof non functional since March 2022. We would like this complete too, but due to Bachman submitting the wrong paper work, we all have to wait.

      Regards,

      *** ********* ********

      Dear *** *****,

On June 13th, 2022, we received a follow up message via the **** portal, indicating that the original application needed to be withdrawn and resubmitted. This was done during the in-person meeting with **** *****, on June 15.

We received notice from the PA Attorney General on June 15th.

The application was reviewed for completeness and moved on to Technical Review, on June15th. July 5th, the project status was changed in the **** portal to show Conditionally Approved. However, we have not received the conditional terms from **** and we are diligently following up with *** ***** for that information.

At this time, we are awaiting **** to provide us with information needed to move forward.

We will continue to update *** ********, as we have information.

      Most Sincerely,

      Amie H****
