1 starRight hand has no idea what the left is doing. This is the epitome of DEI. They double billed and couldn't return my money because "they didn't know how." I had to file a complaint with the state insurance committee before they would "give me a credit" for the almost $1500 they took. I change my address 3/6 with six confirmations that it's been updated, and 4/3 I'm getting an email that they have received returned mail because they failed to update. It's unbelievable how incompetent this company has become.Review fromBeth B

1 starAlways are telling the doctors what to prescribe. Why do I pay to go to the doctor? I did not think you were supposed to practice medicine unless you were a doctor. Every year medicine gets delayed over need for prior authorization.Review fromWENDY M

1 starI am currently under hospice care and was receiving enteral supplies from A medical equipment company outside the hospice. My GI doctor made a change of medical supply company. I made a call on 1/9 where i spent 3 hours on hold to have the pre authorization removed from the one equipment supply company. I was irritated with the hold time and did not have access to feeding supplies. I received a call that my pre authorization was accepted from the new company and my supplies would be delivered. They immediately called back and said that I needed to call BCBS SC. I called back and was told that because I was so rude the previous day that this person was the only person who would help me. I was first yelled at "Are you dying, why do you need hospice services?" The BCBS person was so rude and her voice came across as yelling. She mentioned fraud with my hospice and that since I was with hospice I was not covered with any enteral feeding supplies. I would like to complain about how horribly I was treated. I had no prior knowledge of what was covered and was not previously instructed about who covers what. The phone call was devastating to me and left me crying. I worked many years as a customer service agent and never treated customer so poorly as I was treated with this call, especially a sick patient. I would like the recording of our phone call to be listed to by management and to be contacted by a customer service manger to be told if her aggressive treatment of me was acceptable. I have no words for how traumatizing the phone call with the BCBS SC representative or nurse was. It was total medical gaslightling. Please follow up on this BCBS so no other sick patient has to be treated this way in inquiring for help and belittled because I did not know the details of my plan.Review fromRonald W

Sounds like a LOT of 1 stars. BCBS is a little expensive, but you have to shop your plan intelligently. Bottom dollar plans get bottom dollar coverage. They have never failed me in 10 years.BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina

I wouldn't even give them 1 star. The worst BCBS in the country. Online info is incomplete. The VRU forces you to go through system to get answers which are not available on the VRU or Blue E. Almost impossible to get a representative on the phone. Today I finally got someone on the phone who after several minutes answered the phone and told me she couldn't help me. She said my call was transferred to a line where no one was there to answer. She said she couldn't help me she just picked up the phone (headset) when she hear me saying hello. She then hung up on me. Just unacceptable.BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina

An absolute joke. If you have any other option do not use them. I’m a diabetic and they won’t pay for my insulin pump supplies for multiple more days bc they say it hasn’t been long enough but I’m completely out. Not really a medicine you can do without- guess I’ll just try not to die until they think it’s been an appropriate amount of time. Mind you my prescription was up on 8/7 and it’s now 8/19.BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina

Our Member Services team has been in direct communication with the member, addressing any questions they may have. We have also clarified that their pharmacy benefits are managed by a separate entity, to whom their request must be submitted directly. Nevertheless, we have coordinated with both the member and the relevant entity to facilitate the progress of this matter.Review fromMarsha M

1 starThe Worst!!! First i put in a request to see what was covered as instructed on their website. No reply. Second request - no reply. Third request - no reply. So i finally found a phone number and the gentle man told me it was covered. Then a day later i get a reply to my web request and said it was not covered. Then i get a call back from the gentleman telling me it was not covered, and he made a mistake. i then get an EOB on 4/15/2024 from a procedure on 8/21/23. because it's so late i cannot use my flexible benefits to pay a 2000$ unexpected bill. I call to find out why it took so long. Lots of typing noises and ok's - then after this for 20 minutes, she hangs up on me. I call back and am put on hold again and they can't find the procedure or any information. Going on 25 minutes now with no reply. WTH. Absolutely the worst! I had something show up on a routine X-Ray(mammogram) which was covered. then it became diagnostic and further imaging was not covered. Unbelievable, I think if they would have covered the type of imaging needed in the first place we could have skipped the xray.Review fromDonna G

1 starZERO STARS (if that was a category)! BCBS is a JOKE! For an insurance company to make the sole decisions regarding my health, then WHY go to a doctor? Are the doctors not the ones writing the prescriptions and should be the responsible party to refer me to a specialist because the doctor sees that I have the need? Well sure, however, BCBS has folks that look at a scripts and codes (no matter if you've been taking the meds for years) to turn around and DENY it. I've NEVER had such HORRIBLE INSURANCE in my life!!! There is NO such thing as preventative care for your body. The insurance company WANTS you to have high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and all these other issues so the insurance company can continue to GET MORE AND MORE MONEY!!! They are a scam! Have you ever heard of an insurance company filing bankruptcy or going out of business? NO! Because the insurance company continues to rip off people day in and day out and deny them needed medical...that they are paying for!!! My doctor has a PHD, not the person sitting at the desk at BCBS denying all of my claims!!! The doctors can't be doctors any longer with insurance companies like this one. Anyone that I talk to, I ALWAYS TELL THEM TO NEVER GET BCBS...worst insurance EVER!Review fromMarc M
