I took my 2017 Acura Rdx to this used vehicle dealer where purchased for a repair. It came with a 12 month or 12000 mile warranty which was discovered had gone over the 12k. If I had known this my vehicle would have been taken elsewhere. My vehicle had encountered a overheating issue. I informed Godwin of the details and asked them to pinpoint the cause. I was informed of the estimate and that the radiator was cracked and leaking. I knew this already. At some point during their repair diagnosis, a stop leak solution was introduced into the hvac system. (Unfortunately, this fact was discovered months later.) My car was repaired and returned to me. I had to pay the amount of 711.97 out of pocket. After the repair my car overheated several more times. The initial overheat cause was NEVER pinpointed or corrected. At the end of November this year I was on vacation in Virginia and needed to use my heat in the car. It was discovered the heat was not working. Prior to Godwins incomplete, incompetent and botched repair, my heat worked as normal. My vehicle was taken to a repair shop in Virginia for 5 days and they attempted to repair the issue. I spent $529.20 for this recent repair. The mechanic flushed the hvac system and heater core. He noted that there was a large amount of semi-solid white residue from stop leak solution that NEVER should have been put in my radiator. I did not at anytime ever put stop leak in my hvac system. Godwin motors initial incompetent repair has now caused me almost $1300 in repair with more to be spent once the vehicle is taken somewhere else for repair estimates. I refuse to bring the vehicle back to Godwin. As a result of Godwin I now have neither heat nor air conditioning working properly in my vehicle. There are only two resolutions that will remedy this situation, a full refund of 1241.13 spent or paying for the full repair costs I now face to make the hvac system whole again. A new estimate will be furnished upon request.Business Response

Response:Mr. ****** purchased the RDX on or around 10-23-2024 from Godwin Motors with around 117,121 miles. The purchase included a 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first. Mr. ****** brought the car into Godwin Service on or around 8-14-2024 with 130,247 miles, an entire 3,000 miles out of warranty, for an issue with it running hot. The inspection and pressure test showed a cracked radiator, which Mr. ****** states above he knew. The repair was authorized and completed. Our records show we test-drove the RDX 9 miles with no further issues. Mr. ****** picked up his RDX on 8-15-2024. Godwin Service never introduced stop leak into his RDX's coolant system. Our records show that Mr. ****** did contact Godwin Service, possibly a month or so later, about his car running hot. Godwin Service asked him to get his car to us, but he never did. We have not heard from Mr. ****** since that day. Godwin Service is happy to reinspect Mr. ******'s car to ensure that the radiator replacement repair we made doesn't have warrantable claims. If the radiator is faulty, Godwin Service will warranty that radiator repair. Godwin Service is also willing to diagnose the current issue Mr. ****** is experiencing for free. We aim to make every customer happy and fulfill our duty as a company. We cannot reconcile a problem that we don't know exists.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:My vehicle is at another shop as I write this. I will not let Godwin motors incompetent mechanic department touch this vehicle again. How can a 9 mile test drive determine whether or not the vehicle is fixed? It can't. THERE ABSOLUTELY was stop leak introduced into the cooling system, and it wasn't myself. In the approximately 10 months since purchasing, the vehicle was not in for any repairs nor the radiator cap removed for any reason other than to add water after the initial overheat before taken to Godwin. The cause of the overheating wasn't corrected, which I asked Godwin to do. As evidenced by my return phone call 2 weeks later. The radiator is functioning, the heating system is not, which was a direct result of the inadequate repairs done by Godwin in August. I want a refund of repair work done. I've already spent over $500 since and after today's estimate/repair it will be even more.
Sincerely,
******* ******Business Response

I purchased a 2016 Honda Accord from Godwin Motors on 4/4/24 with the assistance of salesman Tyler B. I was allowed to freely test drive the vehicle and noticed no immediate signs of any issues although I was not accompanied by any professional mechanic. During signing, I received a copy of what I was advised the recent carfax report which I signed off on with vehicle history up to 2022 with verbal knowledge of the car also being covered under warranty for 12,000/12-months with recent vehicle inspection requirements for such warranty to exist. When taking the vehicle home, i drove the interstate to be able to drive it at permissible higher speeds than those within the location of the lot and I noticed a skipping/or jerking in the vehicle whenever I attempted to accelerate to the point the vehicle would lose total power and the check engine light would flash. I would then have to restart the vehicle to continue to drive and the check engine light would then be gone. I returned the vehicle 4/5/24 with knowledge from computer testing of a misfire. This issue was promptly addressed however same issue would occur where acceleration would be delayed with a jerking to the vehicle whenever attempted. I returned the vehicle on several occasions to the auto center, which I was advised I must go to, whenever within a 50mile radius by terms of the warranty has failed to accurately diagnose the necessary repairs. With their guidance that the vehicle was up to par with each attempt I continued to drive this vehicle with the main cause unaddressed which led to full failure of the transmission. The business has been deceptive from the start by providing limited vehicle service history in the carfax report which I later found to include additional service work completed in 2023 and 2024 all of which does not include any dates or work done to the transmission on the vehicle but other major work done I was not aware of until after purchasing the vehicle and having this recurring issueBusiness Response

Good morning,
I have attached information below pertaining to the complaint received from our customer ******* ******. Her dispute is for our company Godwin Certified Service Center, Inc, which is a separate company from Godwin Motors, Inc.
She had her car towed into our Godwin Certified Service Center and her vehicle was diagnosed with a bad transmission. She purchased the car on 04-04-24 and did not purchase a service contract for her used vehicle. She received a free 12 month or 12,000 miles warranty. I have attached below. She put over 22,000 miles on her car and due to her mileage it has now voided her warranty.
We offered to repair her car for the car issues she is currently having. We even offered a payment plan for her repairs since she is not under warranty and she declined and stated she was calling a lawyer.
We still are able to repair the vehicle for her and offer her the same financing plan that was provided at this time. We will be changing to a new system soon that will change the way we finance service work for cars getting repairs. We will be using payment financing companies that customers are able to choose from, such as Klarna and Affirm for financing.
Please let me know if you have any other questions and concerns.
Thanks,
Natasha Ruise

The company for one keeps trying to separate the two businesses as if the car wasn’t originally sold in the condition it was in by Godwin Motors. The service center, which was again mandatory for me to report to by terms of the warranty provided failed to diagnose the ROOT cause of the issue experienced with the car since purchased when I have taken the vehicle to them numerous times where a full diagnostic could have been done to determine that the transmission needed attention. This issue does not occur overnight as the tech verbally suggested to me, unless there was already an existing issue. Even the amount of mileage put on the vehicle by me should not have caused transmission failure, or for the transmission fluid to be low and discolored especially being that this issue caused power restraint where the vehicle could not be physically driven at full capacity if I tried! Which they refuse to provide documentation showing that any attention was ever given to the transmission during diagnostics confirming that this issue could have occurred after the warranty period, if they did when asked I would not have pressed the issue. Also, no documentation has been provided of the findings with the transmission that would explain what led to/caused the failure other than “its failing”. I was even contacted by the tech on 8/5 via phone call asking if my issue was resolved or not, knowing it was after the warranty period based on the mileage from my last visit in June and the rate of mileage being added to the vehicle which they are also so very aware of. I told the tech on this day the issue was still occurring but I was due for an oil change, since they claimed this was the issue in June I assumed this could be a culprit which he offered to at take a look at the vehicle for oil change. The company only claims the issue occured after the warranty period because I didn’t advise them about the issue being possibly being transmission related until I was made aware by another mechanic. I should not have to pay for repairs on the vehicle or at least be refunded for my money spent and they can keep the vehicle being that it was NOT my job to guide the technician in the correct direction other than describing the issue which I did several times since the date of purchase so clearly the vehicle was sold in that deteriorating condition. Secondly, I was NOT made aware of the major work done to the vehicle by the service center in march prior to my purchase that I later found in a carfax report online (included in the original report) vs the one provided at selling which did not disclose this information which would have deterred my decision to continue with this purchase!Business Response

I have the full Carfax report that was signed by the consumer Ms. ****** and all services we provide are always listed on the Carfax reports before a vehicle is sold. No major work was done in March to the vehicle. You will see as I have attached the full Carfax report that you signed and initialed. The services we provided are on your signed copy at the time of sale. We disclose everything up front in the Carfax report. Due to the large amount of mileage in a short time period this consumer has exhausted their 12 month warranty that they signed. Over 20 thousand added miles in a 3 to 4 month period is more than the yearly average of mileage for a car. We are willing to assist the consumer with this matter by helping to get their car fixed. We can assist with the repairs and finance the repairs as previously stated to Ms. ******. Most car service shops don't offer in house financing through the company it is usually a third party financing option. We are still offering this option to assist the customer.
Thanks,
Natasha
