Date sold: April 29, 2022 From: Billy Harpe's Used Cars, 2237 N. Ebenezer Rd, Florence, SC XXXXX Vehicle Price: $6924.00 minus $3000 trade in from Chevy Suburban. Amount Financed: $4144.00 First payment to be Made: June 13, 2022 What Happened: Vehicle ran hot on June 2, 2022, and blew a head gasket. I didn't drive it long or very far. Our mechanic states a faulty thermostat housing was stuck closed, not allowing water to cool the engine. Dispute: Harpe's Auto Sales states their mechanic said I continued to drive the vehicle while the engine was running hot. Complaint: My husband has called and gone by the dealership multiple times. We have requested a call back or face to face meeting, Billy Harpe has ignored us. Suzie who works at Harpe's has stated "Billy won't give me an answer". Billy also has not offered to allow a different mechanic to look at it either. We have also offered for our mechanic to call him, Billy hasn't responded. We have offered about 4 resolutions, Billy continues to ignore our calls.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2022/07/12) */ Customer informed us of the the problem and told us that they had it looked at. We sell all of ours cars AS Is NO Warranty. We talked with the customer several times and we also picked up the car and had it checked out at no cost to them. Customer was asked if the car was driven while running hot they said no. After the car was checked it was confirmed that they did drive it while it was running hot. Customer did state that she didn't drive it far in her complaint. The car ran so hot that it melted the part. It is unfortunate that this happened to them. They have been very good customers of ours over the years. Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2022/07/14) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The portion of the sellers reply is false. The part did not melt. When my husband spoke with Suzie, she stated another customer has driven a vehicle when the engine was running hot. Our mechanic stated that the thermostat housing was stuck closed, not allowing the water to cool the engine. The part did NOT melt. It blew a hole in the side and cracked the top of the thermostat housing. We expect some problems with a used vehicle but don't expect an engine to blow before we make our first payment. Mr Billy H**** has never called us, requested a meeting, spoken with us directly. Suzie has told us several times that Mr H**** will not answer our requests for a meeting. Suzie also states that Mr H**** doesn't do business over the phone. Mr H**** has our old vehicle. He has the Ford Explorer with the blown engine. As a business owner, Mr H**** can sell our old vehicle or fix the Ford Explorer and make a profit. We are without a vehicle and I am having to borrow a vehicle or drive my husband's diesel truck. Gas is too expensive and we barely drive it. We are requesting a full refund of $3000, the price for the trade in allowance of our old vehicle.
