Chart Span is a scam. Here's how it works: A representative from Chart Span calls an innocent senior citizen and purports to be an employee of ******** ****** and my family doctor. The person says that they want to offer services on a monthly basis "free of charge" to me as a senior. I say, "what services"?, They say "oh like a ride to the doctor or a trip to pick up medication". I say, "I am perfectly capable of driving myself and any meds I take I get from mail order. I don't need any services." The person continues by saying that I might like a monthly "free of charge" call from ******** ******, just to check in with me about my wellbeing. I say that I guess that's okay, if ******** ****** wants to check in with me each month with a courtesy phone call. It's at this point where the real scam unfolds. Chart Span sends a pamphlet saying that they are not a scam, but a service to chronic care patients. I am NOT a chronic care patient, nor have I ever been. However, even though ******** ****** and my family doctor both know this, they have provided my phone number to this scam operation. Additionally, my doctor allowed her name to be attached to arbitrary dates that I supposedly received medical services from her. I did not see her or talk to her or anyone from ******** ****** on those days. Yet, ******** ****** billed Medicare, under my doctor's name for services that never happened. It makes me both sad and sick to my stomach that I can no longer TRUST in the honesty of ******** ****** or my family physician who I see but once a year for my yearly physical exam or perhaps a sick visit when I need an antibiotic. It also sickens me that Medicare is totally unaware of how the scam works. Evidently, my family doctor, ******** ****** and Chart Span have concocted a scheme making it all seem legitimate at my personal expense and that of Medicare. If you get a call, just say "no" to a scam that should not exist.

They called me with a message that they were a new management service that was part of my existing Doctor’s practice. Never a mention about this being a paid service charged to Medicare. When I received the brochure with the detailed information, I realized they had nothing to do with my Docttor’s practice and they did specifically mention his name when they made contact with me. I called the Chartspan number and directed them to unenroll me as I’m not interested in their service and never would have agreed to it had they stated up front that there was a monthly cost involved. It may be useful but I’m quite capable of managing my own health needs.

Scam. Make it VERY CLEAR when they call you that you do not want the service, and complain to your medical provider. Watch your monthly statements to make sure you aren’t being charged. If you are, notify Medicare’s fraud line and your state insurance bureau.

We appreciate you taking time to leave a review. We take accusations like this very seriously, as they can be damaging to our reputation. We pride ourselves on transparent and ethical business practices and want to assure you that we would never intentionally bill someone without cause. We would genuinely like to understand what might have led to this misunderstanding as we have looked into your experience with ChartSpan and confirmed you declined the program and never received our services. We've reached out to your practice, who we are partnered with, and confirmed they have not submitted any claims. If you have any specific concerns or would like to speak to someone, you can call us at ************ or address them with your provider.

ChartSpan are a scam. They called my husband and said they work for **** ****** (we attended the *********** ** location where our PCP is). They said that **** ****** authorized them to call to do follow ups on his medical care etc. They said they were part of **** ******. They keep calling and asking questions. Asking him to verify his DOB etc. They called again today and I got really suspicious. I told my husband to tell the woman on the phone that I had some questions and wanted to speak to her. She refused to talk to me. So my husband asked them directly if they are part of **** ******. She said no and proceeded to tell him he will be charged for their service, a service we didn't ask for, sign up for, neither did **** health mention anything about ChartSpan. My husband told her he didn't want that and we didn't ask for it and not to bill him for anything as we already have two insurances one of which is ******* for Life. We don't have to pay co-pays for anything. Upon doing some research, come to find out, they DO NOT work for **** ****** and they have numerous complaints with BBB as well as directly on their website. I will be calling **** ****** on the next business day to complain because I don't think it is fair for my husband's or my medical records to be sold to a third party or for anyone to sign us up for services we didn't ask for or are not willing to pay for. I will get an attorney involved and call our local news station because this is wrong and has to stop.... period.

Hi, we are so sorry to hear you and your husband have had a frustrating experience with ChartSpan. Your husband should be receiving a call from one of our supervisors and someone from the **** team as well. It sounds like there has been an unfortunate misunderstanding as we have been proud partners of **** ****** (*** ****** *******) since 2016, providing care management services remotely on behalf of their organization. You can find out more information on **** ******'s website ********************************. Through our contractual partnership and *** we are able to securely share appropriate medical information to provide remote care services and relay any new information back to providers. These services are for a ********-sponsored program called ******* **** ********** which can be performed by the practice our outsourced to a third party, like ChartSpan. Due to the nature of our services being remote, we have to verify the identify of the person on the other side of the phone which is why we may ask for data such as DOB or zip code. We also may only speak to the enrolled patient unless we have a POA on file. We hope that this explanation clarifies things and can assure you that our partnership and services are legitimate and safe.

I received a bill for the portion that Medicare would not pay. My secondary insurance does not recognize this coding as relating to medical care therefore no payment issued. I contacted Chart Span Medical and was told I had signed up back on March 13,2024. Chart Span claims I signed up via text message and they claim they have the text message saved. If, If I did sign up it was by mistake. I would have thought that this was a service that the doctors used to input notes on my care. I do not recall being told/advised there could be a charge. Chart Span signs patients up via text message. Chart span does not send out papers to explain the program and to be signed. Chart Span claims that this is standard procedure. Now, Chart Span will send out paper bills, so in my opinion Chart Span should be required to send enrollment papers for signature to the patient. Old people(patients) receive texts of all sorts and some we understand and some are vague. In my opinion, Chart Span falls into the vague file as their service could be understood as a doctor entering notes on a recent doctors visit. All of these type services are free to the patient. Bottom line is that in my opinion Chart Span is preforming a scam against the elderly by using texting to sign a patient up for their services. This scam allows Chart Span to collect payment from Medicare and then bill the patient for the balance Medicare does not pay. Medicare should be interested in Chart Span to enforce enrollment only through enrollment paper work showing a legal signature.

Hi Richard, thank you for providing this feedback. We take all of our patient interactions very seriously and have been investigating this situation. Unfortunately, we have been unable to verify that you were ever enrolled in our program. We have been in contact with your provider's office who is looking into this as well. If you continue to have billing issues please reach out to your provider. We are happy to work with you and your provider to resolve any issue that may have occurred.

Very misleading phone call by this ChartSpan Company!! With phone number showing as *********** and "ID" on my phone showing as MY PRIMARY CARE DOCTORS OFFICE was calling.. This guy identified himself as (Glen) stated to me that my Primary Care office authorized him to call me to have him do all followups for me scheduling appts, what ever else I needed home checkups via the phone , Bloodwork, Hosp tests appts. and if I would just give him my address where he can send documentation for me to read. That alone struck me as ODD if he was told to call me by my primary Dr. he would have this information already. He then wanted a to know what day to be called to from the 855 number to have a talk about all that they would be doing for me at my doctor's request.. Being a bit Leary, I just replied any day, then ended call. I Immediately called my Primary Doctors Office and relayed the information of the call to them and they told me that NO ONE AUTORIZED any such program for me. I went on the internet to investigate the phone number he gave me that would be calling me ******* per Glen. It showed the Company as "ChartSpan" and I read all the COMPLAINTS from people about the TRICKERY they use to LIE to people so that they can 'BILL' you and YOUR insurance company for the PHONE appointments. I then called the phone number *******on my phone that had called me from the person (GLEN ) and a woman answered and I asked her to whom am I speaking with she said " Kelly" and I asked her What Company she is working for and she said "CHARTSPAN".. I then informed her that I wanted to OPT OUT of any phone call followups that were scheduled by Glen for me, she told me that she would remove me from the program . I also notified my Insurance Fraud Dept. not to pay any bills that this company ChartSpan would bill for in my name. They are aware and looking into it all. Still on the following Monday Monica from ChartSpan called again. they are relentless and need to be STOPPED.

Hi there, we are so sorry that your experience with ChartSpan seemed disingenuous. We understand that asking to verify personal information such as address may seem odd, but is a requirement to make sure we are speaking to the correct person. ChartSpan partners with practices across the US to provide Medicare chronic care management services, and our intention is never to deceive. Our internal team is looking into your experience and will reach out to your provider to clarify any miscommunication. We have confirmed you have already been unenrolled from the program. Again, we apologize for any confusion.

Agree with everything said about this company being a ******** scam. They call out of the blue. My husband does not have a chronic condition - only sees primary for annual review for one cholesterol medication which is lowest dosage can get. They lead you to believe they are calling from the doctors office, do not mention any kind of charge. Now receiving text messages that they will call which they don’t. I intent to turn them into state AG as well as file HIPPA privacy violation.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion and frustration during your or your husband's experience with *********. We partner with practices and health systems to provide an additional level of care services between office visits - a Medicare program called Chronic Care Management. We are required to inform patients that coinsurance and deductibles do apply to this program. Please be on the lookout for a call from a representative of our Patient Services team to resolve any issue that may have occurred.

I would have given them a 0, I agree with most of the others on this thread this is a very deceptive organization and should be investigated. They are just ripping off ******** and ******** as well as the people they are signing up up under false claims that is free. I inted to report them to my State AG.

These people are deceptive. When we were contacted, we thought this had to do with office charting updates by our local physician. My spouse was signed up, not sure how this was done? No signed contract. If there had been one, we would have noticed there is a monthly charge for this. His local physician is for physicals mostly. We received a bill today, for two phone visits: evidently, they phoned him in order to make the charges. The billing was for April, May, and I figure there will be one for June. We don't intend to pay. My husband does NOT have a chronic illness treated by his local physician. I plan to contact local TV stations. I think this service is geared towards Medicare Coverage Patients. If his deductible had been met? I think they would have charged Medicare every month, collected payment, and we would not have known it.

This is crazy!! We got a bill for the deductible $70. The insurance was billed for $520 for 2 phone calls that we did not take. I would not recommend this service. The only reason we signed up was because we thought our provider was requiring it. I would not recommend it.
