I have an auto loan with Founders. They have REPEATEDLY added auto insurance to my loan increasing my car payment, giving me late fees and making it late as a result, which in turn has given me bad credit reports because they just report the loan as late due to them adding extra monies to the loan which makes the payment unbearable. I have shown them reporting 5 different times that the car is insured with StateFarm and 6 different times theyve added insurance! I wait for the leter from them like clock work saying my car isnt insured and i need to ad adequate insurance the issue is, IT HAS INSURANCE AND FULL COVERAGE AT THAT. Ive had enough of going there with declaring pages over and over again. State Farm has told me over and over again Founders is the payee on the policy so i have no idea why they keep doing this! Adding their insurance increases the payments by almost $200 to the tune of $800 a month! Then the curent insurance on the car is $420 through StateFarm! Im and beyond upset and just fed up with this and tired of drowning in extra drama on my loan with issues that shouldnt be like this every few months or so, they have made owning this car a complete nightmare. They apologize, remove the insurance, then credit the money to my account (never returning the extra ive scracthed and clawed to get to pay the extra) then rinse and repeat in about 3 -4 months time! I do not have extra money to just pay for insurance TWICE for a vehicle and to keep showing proof that it is INSURED. Im tired of going back and forth, all while having to leave off my job to prove this car is insured! This is BEYOND RIDICULOUS! I cant take this anymore and something needs to be done about this.Business Response

After researching this complaint, we found that we had inadvertently added collateral protection insurance to this loan and are working towards a solution with our third-party provider. A refund has been initiated for this premium and a request to update the credit reporting for November has been submitted to the credit bureaus.
Thanks!

On 10/11, I spoke with *********************** regarding increasing my personal loan. After speaking about what the loan is for, I gave her permission to process an application. The next day she informed me that the personal loan could be approved using the equity in the vehicle on my auto loan. She quoted the interest rate. Upon acceptance of the interest rate and monthly amount she proceeded to finalize the loan. I had paid on my 2017 ****** Rav for two years as well as a personal over two years. I had reduced the $22,000 balance down to just over $17,000. Well after making two payments I noticed that the balance on the refinanced auto loan was not decreasing by much. I spoke with Corri today (12/15) to inquire if there was a per diem rate on the loan. She informed me that the per diem rate was just over $10 a day. This means that the 15% interest rate is actually 25%. As ***** tried to justify that the interest is always higher at the beginning of a loan I let her know that the interest rate is not what they said that it is. First is I was never informed of a per diem interest rate. If this was disclosed I would not have finalized the loan. Secondly, as a black woman making a decent salary I feel taken advantage of because of my race. Thirdly, I have been doing business with Founders for several years and apparently my history with them means nothing. This predatory discrimination practice of giving me a 15% plus $10 per diem on a vehicle that is five years old is disgusting, hurtful and deceitful. I guarantee that a white woman's does not resemble the awful one given to me. No where in my loan paperwork is a per diem rate given nor was it disclosed during the closing of the loan. At 15% the monthly payment shouldn't be more than $400 per monthly. I have made two payments of $585 dollars of which half is applied to the principal which is absurd and racially motivated.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
Founders is only hiding behind the fact that they do not disclose upfront the per diem interest on the loan. An interest rate of ***** percent was stated as if it's a single interest loan. The compounded per diem rate is not disclosed. I am not okay with that because I would not have accepted those terms.Business Response

We have discussed the loan documentation further, reviewed the details of the finance charges with the member and have resolved to her satisfaction.

Was convinced from the company to get a credit card through Founders. Going through a divorce, I had to max out the card for unexpected expenses. Since having to pay back the card, it was obviously not utilized. Recently, paying up to date on the card, it was discovered that they closed the account because I hadnt utilized the card. Now although the card is paid up to date, it is not able to be used. So now I am essentially paying a loan. This situation, or rather possibility, was not brought to my attention at the time of applying and subsequently being approved for the card.Business Response

I had a personal loan with Founders Credit Union with payment protection. In June of 2020 I totaled my vehicle that was financed through founders. After losing my job due to COVID-19 pandemic world wide. I started receiving payment assistance from the government(unemployment assistance Covid-19). I was never given the opportunity to receive my payment protection to cover the cost of my loan when I lost my job. When I called to verify my accounts they stated I didnt have payment protection on my auto loan but only in my personal loan. I immediately called the ** of the location I bank at *********************** and after our long conversation regarding ***** the branch manager at South ***** Location. He decided he would select that I didnt want payment protection in my loan for me. He contacted ************************* my account manager for my auto and personal. In which the documents were to be updated with the correct selection of the payment protection. Come to find out when I needed it in July of 2022, they told me I wasnt covered under payment protection plan for neither my personal loan nor my auto loan. I knew something was wrong. Now theyre sending me an account closing letter because of my account being delinquent regarding me not working and I have made every effort to make payments on my vehicle and personal up until I loss my job in July 2022. I know theyve created a financial hardship for me by closing out my account as a write off. I need your assistance. ******,*********************Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Im responding to the complaint I filed in December 2022 against Founders Federal Credit Union. On or about December 9,2022 I spoke with ************************* about the compliant filed with the BBB.
I advised him of the bad business practices Founders Federal Credit Union had did against me and the payment protection I had on my personal loan and auto loan.
Also, that I was never provided the opportunity through Founders to utilize my payment protection and yet they still received payments from me during COVID-19 and never reimbursed me for my payments made when I had coverage through the payment protection plan. To pay my payments if I loss my job or became Ill and couldnt make my payments.
He said there wasnt noting he could do about it since it was in 2020 and this is 2022. I explained that Founders have been abusing my account payment, and they fraudulently signed a paper electronically stating that I declined to have payment protection.
I explained to him why would I ever enroll into payment protection and have it added into my payments if I never had it and how could I be disenrolled and given a refund if I never had it?
For a resolution into this matter I need to receive a $100.00 per day for everyday that I was suppose to have payment protection and didnt.
Also, restore my credit my removing the late payments that caused me a hardship due to money I would have had but didnt because of their negligence of my payment protection plan to cover my payments.
Pay me $10,000.00 for the duress, hardship, credit issues, messing up my credit, pain, frustration and agony of having to mentally, emotionally physically having to deal with them on the level of filing a claim against them to do whats right and for discrediting my name through destroying my credit.
Also, Im dealing with another issue with my statenforced insurance and they arent wanting to reduce my car payment regarding insurance coverage thats been verified through my insurance company Direct Auto with their agent on the line, via a 3-way phone conversation with ********************* claims specialists and myself . Im being forced to continuously pay $613.00 for my car payment. Even after theyve verified the information and the 3rd party Insurance provider has received the same exact information. I spoke with ********************* today and asked her why havent this been resolved when she was on the phone with me and heard the agent verify the insurance coverage.
She was suppose to be sending me an email with the date the insurance information coverage was provided regarding May, June and July and I didnt have a lapse in June like they kept saying.
Reimburse me my money and I dont want it refunded to my loan, because this issue has caused me an indefinite hardship regarding my credit and being able to pay my personal loan and my payments regarding other bills that I have because of their negligence in regards to handling this matter better and sooner.
Respectfully Urgent,
****** Alamreen

On June 16, 2022 Founders Federal Credit Union allowed a transaction to be charged to my Mastercard of $6762.49 when my credit limit was only $1500.00 from Enterprise Rental Car. I brought it to the attention of Founders and was told that Enterprise is allowed to do that even if the funds were unavailable. My Mastercard was in arrears of almost $5000.00. Founders eventually paid the arrears and then canceled my account, due to their error. I have been with Founders since 2015. I did nothing wrong and I was happy being a member of Founders Federal Credit Union.Business Response
