I do not like how they do business! Had repairs done on my 2 toilets, was initially told to wait until my second bill was out so that I could get a bill adjustment from their customer service! I get an email acknowledging that it a high, but they won't be adjusting anything. Consolidation prize-extended time to pay bill. No-I wish I had the option to switch water companies!

They don’t even deserve one star. Worst company I have ever dealt with constantly having to get account reactivated because they are incompetent and keep losing important information then blame on customer. Then when you call to resolve the problem they made they talk down to you and are almost impossible to work with.

Some of the Tennessee American Water customers who live in Rossville, Ga are being discriminated against by the City of Rossville GA Utility Services payment processing center because of race ,age disability or medical condition. The City of Rossville GA Utility Services payment processing center are refusing to provide affordable payment plans to prevent the disconnection of water and sewer services for all customers with extremely high sewer bills.. Some customers in Rossville ,Ga health have been affected because they have to live without water and sewer services for long periods of time because of the City of Rossville GA Utility Services payment processing center discriminatory actions .

WE bought a new house in Moss Landing and we have two water meters with TN American Water Company: one for the house and one for the yard sprinkler system. The TN American Water billing department has the two meters switched. It has been very dry and we have had to sprinkle the yard quite a bit. The problem is that we are being charged a sewer fee for watering our yard. We registered the problem with TN American Water on august 22nd and it is now October 6 and the problem has not been resolved. My wife just tried to contact the billing department of TN American Water and the customer service person said that they did not have a number for the billing department. Is there any way you can help us?

If 0 stars were an option, that's what I would select. I lived in a rental property in Chattanooga from June 2022 to July 2023 and was an American Water customer. A week before I moved out, I used the American Water website to submit a stop service request. I did not receive any sort of notification or confirmation of the stop service I requested, so I also called in and confirmed the stop service date. Then, on July 21, 2023, I handed over my keys to the property owners and moved to Colorado. In August, I was notified of charges on my account AFTER July 21. I called in, and was told that I would get a call back. When I didn't, I called in again and was left purposefully on hold until the office closed. I called in the next day, and was told that the problem was resolved and all was well. So you can imagine my surprise when yesterday, October 4, I received a DEBT COLLECTION notice for charges that accrued after I moved out, that I had called about 4 times previously, and that I had been told were resolved. Last night I emailed 55 employees, and did not receive a single response. I called in this morning and finally spoke to Sandra, who deserves a raise and promotion, and she helped me sort through this issue. Despite Sandra's help, I should not have to call in to a business 4 times for a solution, nor should I have to pay for poor operations, customer service training, and general business disorganization. I don't want an apology, I just hope that with enough bad reviews this business is forced to change, either in operations or management.

We requested service to reactivate our water for our commercial building multiple times. Didn’t get turned on the first time. Nobody called to let us know that. Found out the reason why and requested them to come again for repairs and to call us so we can meet there. ZERO calls again. They came and never did anything, didn’t say a word why. I called their only number AGAIN and requested for local office to call me and supervisor. Guess what? Nobody called! How hard is it to respond?? How hard is it do a better customer service??

We have lived in our current home for almost 2 years and have had nothing but negative experiences with American Water from the beginning. Communication is terrible and follow through is inconsistent. Whenever we do have issues (which has been a lot recently), I waste an hour or more of my time on hold or talking to a representative that ultimately doesn’t end up helping. It seems like the communication between the service technicians and the customer service reps is terrible. They mixed up our meters and messed up our billing for almost 2 years and just now realized it. Twice now we have come home to no water and were told that just our water had been turned off, with no explanation why (we pay our bill on time every month). They send techs out to turn it back on and no one will explain to me why they turned it off in the first place. Every time I call I have to recap the whole thing and still no one can tell me for sure if all the confusion surrounding our property meters is cleared up. Not a fan of this company. To be clear, some of the customer service reps and technicians are nice and try to be helpful, but it feels like they are very limited in what information they can access and the whole company’s system is too unorganized and inefficient. I requested a call from a supervisor more than three weeks ago both on the phone and in a survey I filled out. Still haven’t heard anything. They sent us a huge bill due to a billing error on their end and don’t even have the courtesy to call back when we requested it.
