In June 2023, I entered a construction contract with *************************/ Memphis Dream Homebuilders, LLC to build a master suite and bedroom addtion. ****** served as the general contractor and was respoonsible for supplies, labor and management of the project. We have a written contract in place. Everything was going well until mid- Oct 2023. She began to be very slowful in returning phone calls and workers stopped showing up. At this point $95,000.00 of the $100,000.00 had been paid as requested for supplies and to pay the workers. I continued to try to keep the communication open and made several calls and texts to both ****** and her daughter *****. I was told ****** had been in the hosptial. No plan to resume work was discussed. After several weeks of no explanation or return text messages, etc. I called ****** on 12/4/2023 from another phone number and she answered the phone. She explained she had been sick and said she needed $3500.00 of the last $5000.00 to get supplies for the plumber to finish getting water access from the **** meter to my home and then to the addition, on 12/5, I called the plumber to see when he was going to start the job and he informed me that he had not received the money to get the supplies. on 12/6, I still had not heard from ****** nor the plumber. She did not answer call nor text. I texted her to inform her I was stopping payment on the check, which I did. The plumbing, airhandler installation, electrical work, repairs for wall penetrations were incomplete. I had to enter agreements with the subcontractors to finish the work. At the time of this complaint, none of the subcontractors have heard from her and have not been completely compensated for the work done on my property. They have also said she has not paid them for work done on other projects. I am currently serving as the homeowner/contractor with final inspection pending. I am asking for help to get my money back from ************************* or her company.
