  Barry Roberts presented himself as a Roofer & then as a ********* able to do most ******************* jobs. He completed one small job for us and one larger roof job. On the second job we did provide an advance payment of $800 for ************** had no problem with him returning with the materials & doing the work. The roofing job came with a 5 year written labor warranty. He returned to do some caulking on the outside of our home & having seemingly been reliable to contracted in writing for him to do some additional work. We had most of the supplies but provided him with a check $300 for him to get additional supplies. He was supposed to complete the work by August 17th weather permitting. But most of the work was interior work so weather would have impacted less than 20% of the work. In any case, he was supposed to start on Monday August 15, 2022. No show no call on Monday. On Tuesday before 9 am I sent a screen shot of the weather for the day and let them know they could use the garage as work space if it did rain and that we protected our floors so no worries about tracking through the house. At 10:56 am he replied it would be tomorrow morning before he could start. Wednesday no show but finally responded to our text after 4 pm saying his daughter was in the hospital and that he would call us later that evening. On August 18th after not hearing from him again we let him know via text that we were sorry about any family issues that he may be dealing with but our other contractor lost his ******** made sure his workers came everyday and he communicated with us. The lack of communication is not how you handle business. Therefore, we let him know he had breached our agreement to have the work completed by August 17th & provided him with options on how to return our $300 within 5 business days. On Saturday August 20th he said we should have the check by Monday, Tuesday the latest. No check, our roof has a leak which we text him twice about & called (VM full) nothing.
