Six years ago, Adam's Roofing installed a metal roof on my home in Lenoir City TN. They claimed it was a 40 year roof and would work well for my home. I asked them at the time to remove the composition roofing and repair any sheathing problems. They installed roofing materials sourced locally and it initially did not leak. After five years there was evidence of leakage at some Adam's installed trim to the inside of my home. A snow storm this winter damaged some of my gutter this spring so contact a gutter contractor who pointed out multiple of roofing deficiencies. Acting on their information. I contacted Adam's Roofing. Their owner came and looked, without actually getting on the roof or using a ladder, indicated that it was not their problem. He told me he no longer installed metal roofing since his customers have had roof peel off problems. Last time I was in contact with him, he hung up with me. I don't think that is the proper way to conduct business. My gutter contractor said insufficient screws were part of the roofs problem.

In regards to *** ******** complaint:
Taylor Adams met with *** ******** at Mr. ******** home about a roofing concern.  They both agreed that Mr. ******** would furnish metal edging and Adams Roofing would install it.  *** ******** called the office on April 19th late afternoon using foul language, calling Mr. Adams names, and threating him.  At that point Taylor Adams hung up.  The office manager called *** ******** on the following Monday, left a message, and has never had a return call from *** ********.  The letter from BBB is the only contact we have had with *** ********.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: First, there is not a single roofing concern. There are numerous concerns which affect the life of the roof. Mr Adams refused to actually walk on the roof, claiming that it was wet when it had not rained at my location that morning. You can't see the problems if you don't look. Second: The roof should have had roof edging installed prior to having the metal roof installed. It is the contractors job to address any observed deficiencies prior to installing a roof. Third: On the windward side of the roof, the roof panels were buckling on the edges due to an insufficient number of roofing screws being used. Four: A wooden trim strip was used where the roof edge meets the wooden siding. This should have been painted steel in the same color as the roof material and bent to the proper angle to match the roof and siding. The wooden trim strips are now separating from the building and are no longer effective at their intended function. Five: There are other problems that I'll not list.

On the day that I spoke to Mr.Adams I do admit to using foul language in our conversation but it was only after he insulted my intelligence and made fun of my workplace, I will now refuse access to my property by anyone associated with Adams Roofing. Mr. Adams also told me that they no longer installed metal roofing. I certainly understand why.

    Sincerely,

    *** ********

This is regarding *** ********’s rejecting letter:

The morning Mr. Adams met with Mr. ******** it had been lightly rain.  Mr. ******** took Mr. Adams in his house up the stairs to a window and showed Mr. Adams the roof issue.  That is the reason Mr. Adams did not get on the roof.

Metal roofing does not require metal edging.

Mr. Adams told Mr. ******** that morning that the small buckling on the westside was an easy fix and he would take care of it when his crew would come & install the metal that *** ******** was to purchase.

Mr. Adams showed *** ******** that there was a color-coded metal turned up 3” on the wood siding was.  The 1x4 that was installed over the flashing was discussed during the time of installation.  The wood siding was already showing signs of deterioration.  Mr. ******** told Mr. Adams that he would be replacing the wood siding soon.

The only reason that *** ******** contacted us was during the Winter snow had torn his guttering down.  The gutter company could have easily installed metal edging when the new guttering was installed.  If the gutter company he contacted does not do this we could refer one to him.  The gutter company he contacted showed him the issues in questions.  The roof was installed in 2018 and no issue until now.  The roof is still not leaking and in good condition.
