Made an appointment for a SECOND OPINION months in advance for 16 year old with a spinal injury. The appointment was made so he would not have to miss school ( fall break). Phoned numerous doctors across the country only to be told that they do not give second opinions for a minor. Vanderbilt said that they do and bring him in. I called them numerous times to verify we needed a second opinion. Each time they reaffirmed that it would not be a waste of trip ( 3 plus hours) , that he will have his second opinion. The neurologist who recommended surgery ( in Chattanooga) is an excellent surgeon who I trust 100%. We just needed a second opinion. Spinal surgery for a just turned 16 year old is major and a second opinion is definitely needed. After months waiting and the promises of a second opinion we made the drive. First thing I told Vanderbilt doctor that this is for a second opinion. We brought all X-rays , medical records and mri results. Vanderbilt doctor said that he will give us the second opinion but first more X-rays. After X-rays he said that he can’t give second opinion that he will refer us to someone else in Vanderbilt. What a WASTE of TIME. Not to mention the constant lies by Vanderbilt. If the doctor was not qualified to give a second opinion then why did he accept the appointment. All said and done Vanderbilt charged $1374. What a joke. If my plumbing was bad in my home and I call a plumber, I sure in the heck wouldn’t expect an electrician to come and then recommend a plumber and charge $1374. Vanderbilt wasted my Son’s fall break and 3 hour trip to Nashville and stoked $1374. CRIMINAL, TOTALLY CRIMINALReview from Chris T

I have had a lot of really great experiences with VUMC. They have treated me and my children with compassion and care. There is a reason why the wait may be long when you go to the ED. This fantastic, state-of-the-art hospital serves a huge population that may not have other choices on where to go due to the type of insurance they have. The physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, care partners, and other ancillary staff have been nothing short of wonderful to me and my family. No place is 100% perfect, but you want to go to this hospital If you have any severe illness or injury.Review from chasity y

I am very upset. It takes MULTIPLE hours to be seen and there are never any updates about the patients progress. I understand there is a lot going on, but this is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!Review from Nancy R

I am so disappointed with Vanderbilt and their billing practices. I go to the 100 Oaks building to see my providers and I pay my $10 office visit right then and there. Then you get hit with an additional $50 copay for a clinic fee after they filed the office visit claim. Why do they not tell you that you will be paying this double charge. I can't afford to see my cancer doctors or any other providers with Vanderbilt at 100 Oaks in Nashville or the office in Lebanon across from the hospital facilities. Is anybody else getting double billed??Review from Julia C

Waist of time my child was not properly examined resulting in surgery the next day at a different hospital. We spent over 6 hours in the emergency department. My son had damage on his soft pallet and the whole reason we was sent there was because they were supposed to have a specialist on staff to be able to perform surgery. The ER doctor took one look at was like oh he’s fine. When in fact he was not fine and we went to ********** children’s where they gave him the emergency surgery.Vanderbilt Health Response

This review is specifically about the billing/ coding office. I see a neurologist every quarter for the exact same procedure. For DOS 02/10/23, 05/26/23, 11/15/23 they were all coded correctly and I had a $50 copay. For DOS 08/11/23 it was billed/coded differently for the exact same procedure and they are saying I owe $755.78. I have called the billing office seven times about this and each time they tell me that something is incorrect and they are submitting it for review. On December 27, I called and spoke to Monica and she told me the previous reviews weren't done correctly and she would send a detailed review and get back to me. They called me today- Jan 19, 24 and told me that the review said everything is correct. It obviously is not since I had the same procedure three other times in 2023. When I asked to speak to the highest person in the department, they said there was no one higher than a supervisor, which is obviously not true. I am not paying this bill since it is obviously wrong.Review from Geetha G

We had the wrong labs ordered by the resident and I kept waiting to hear about the lab results. After waiting a decent amount of time called the doctor’s office and was told, we had to have the labs drawn again since they didn’t get the right labs. So I get charged for the wrong lab and then again for the one we needed to get again. I have a high deductible plan and I am being charged for the lab that they drew in error. Not only did we not get an apology but we are also being asked to pay for the wrong lab work. I have been going back and forth over the last 7 months with their billing and every time they take down the information but send me the same bill with no attempt to correct the charge. I am literally exhausted but cannot bring myself to pay for someone’s errorReview from Susan Q

Vanderbilt billed the wrong insurance. They Confirmed coverage with the correct Co per their billing dept but have not yet billed the correct insurance. Due mistake are showing out of network and sent me a message recently threatening going to collection. Said they are working on it but the correct insurance Co has not gotten the claim. Causing me extreme stress. I asked for all the info so I can file myself but they are not providing it. It appears This is either gross incompetence or an extortion attempt to get more money by threatening ones credit due to a mistake on their side. TNAG needs to look into these billing practices.Review from Ashley H

My son has Epilepsy. We’ve regularly had his EEGs done at the Franklin neurology location, but in July they told us we could not have it done at that location so we would need to go to the Children’s Hospital in Nashville, or wait until later in the fall to come back. We live over an hour and a half away, so we opted to go to the Children’s Hospital, since it was communicated to us that it would be the same either location. A few weeks later, we got a bill and realized it is NOT the same. It’s a $1,000 difference. I’m highly disappointed in the communication. Had I known this information, we would have come back to Franklin another time.Review from Patrice B

I brought my husband here at 1 pm Sunday, it’s 3 am and we been waiting in the hallway this long for an MRI while listening to all the staff talk about their everyday life! This nurse name Marissa seems to not care just talking to her coworker, I never personally been here but I do know this is not professional. I could understand if they are busy but they are Not!
