I had a dermatology appointment in July 2024 in which I gave my insurance and was told there was no charge. I received a text message from the company Oct 29, 2024 stating I had a balance. I called the clinic 11/4/2024 as the link texted to me provided no information on a balance, and was told I had a balance of $172.00 and they had sent it to collections. They have never once called, mailed an invoice, sent an email, sent a text prior to this being sent to collections. I was given no opportunity to contact my insurance company to have this corrected and no opportunity to pay this invoice before it being sent to collections.Business response

I am not in billing or scheduling but am only the physician who may have saw her. Our names do not match, so maybe she saw someone else. I cannot say as that would violate confidentialty.
However, to be told as she says, "there is no charge" seems incorrect. Maybe she misunderstood, or the person on the other end said "there is no chage due that day. That might have been because there might not have been a copay due at the time of service, but of course if she had a service, there would be a "charge".
Also, I am happy to see that the charge was the amount stated and not more. I always try to keep charges as low as possible. We all know of medical treatments that cost so much more.
I know especially young people who are new to paying for their own medical care do not know about charges vs copays and deductables. Hopefully, she will become happier with health care services as she learns thru life experiences such as this.

I am rejecting this response. The condescending response by the physician does not resolve anything nor address anything in my complaint. It was a non-response in its entirety.

I am not ***** Day Day to whom your letter and the complaint is addressed. This person named in the complaint saw a different provider in our office one time. The amount charged went to the deductible and was reduced. Our records show that invoices for the balance were mailed on 7/30/2024, 9/3/2024, and 10/8/2024. As there was no response to the invoices, the account was sent to collections.
We do not know if the three invoices were received. However, they were not returned to us as undeliverable. Our office manager, ****** ***** would be glad to document the records. Her email is ******************************************************************************.
