In regards to the complainant Jerry Stone at the address 2010 N Gateway, Rockwood, TN 37854. Roane County Public Utility abides by Tennessee State Law 5-16-108. Sewerage Facilities – Mandatory Connection and Use: The board or other administrative agency is hereby authorized to require any person, firm or corporation owning or occupying property within an area of land in which sewerage facilities are maintained by the board or administrative agency, to connect with and use such facilities. Acts 1961, ch. 166, § 8; T.C.A., § 5-1608. Roane County Public Utility does have a tap/connection of $1500.00, in lieu of having mandatory hookups when a septic system is functional for the property, we charge the lowest monthly rate to the individuals who would otherwise be required to hookup and pay the connection fee and monthly fee. If the septic system were to fail at the above-mentioned property, the state septic inspector would require the complainant to pay the connection fee and connect to the available sewer.

We apologize for this gentleman's predicament, however we are not in a position to change the law in our state.

    Complain** ********

I am rejecting this response because:
It's funny how this became a law right after the line was installed and with out notification to owners you may make it hard on me but I'm not paying this or your late charge my bill says Rockwood water gas and sewer I'm not and can not pay a separate bill for something I'm not receiving so all that being said just be patient I'm selling as soon as possible and you can take it up with the next guy
    Sincerely,

    Jerry Stone
