1 starNegative Review for ****** **** *** at Toyota Vandergriff - Arlington I recently had a deeply frustrating experience at Toyota Vandergriff, specifically with ****** **** ***, the used car manager. I initially signed a contract for a 2023 Toyota ************** on December 12th, 2024, but the loan fell through. I returned on December 20th to sign a new contract, but even now, on January 6th, 2025, the loan still hasnt processed. When I visited the dealership today to return the truck, I was initially met with understanding from Favour and ******, who were cordial and professional. However, ****** **** *** quickly escalated the situation when he came to ******* desk. I explained that I couldnt keep the truck without an approved loan and requested my down payment back. Instead of handling the matter professionally, ****** insisted on keeping the truck and my down payment, claiming he needed to "get paid for the vehicle." To make matters worse, he made a comment about not being a rental company and even threatened legal action against me using ****************** lawyerscompletely unprovoked. Adding to the frustration, they conveniently mentioned I needed to send them a bill only after I made it clear I was turning in the truck. This felt like a last-minute attempt to complicate the process further. I literally had to call the cops which isn't a good look for any dealership let along Toyota due to the outstanding track record.Marvins approach showed a complete disregard for customer satisfaction and a lack of empathy for my situation. I expected a more respectful and solution-oriented response, especially considering the circumstances. This experience left me deeply dissatisfied, and I strongly caution others when dealing with ****** **** *** at Toyota Vandergriff. **************** should prioritize resolving issues, not exacerbating them. I will never step foot on this property again.Review fromKevin B

1 starMy experience began when a family member contacted a friend, managing partner of Vandergriff.I first went to CarMax to obtain a cash offer for my 2020 Avalon, received one for $******.I informed *********************** that if they gave me ****** for my car I would purchase a used car from them. Let him have the Carmax written offer. I told him this would allow me to get ***** back and put ***** down as I owed ****** on the Avalon. Long story short, they put a offer in front of me that showed 2***** trade and a ***** down payment, I said no that's not what we verbally agreed on. He went behind the "glass" and came back and said he was told that's how it is written up due to sales tax. The payoff amount was overstated by ***** which meant that would be refunded to me per the "guys" behind the glass. It was a 4 hour ordeal, however, since I was not prepared for this since I thought I was there to get a straight deal as instructed by the managing partner. Bottom line is that I did sign the sales agreement and thus have no recourse other than to tell of all their scrupulous business practices employed and the astonishing lack of business ethics and integrity. The finance person, ***************, even told me I was getting warranty contracts at no cost to me. Totally incorrect as it was added to my finance amount. Transaction was completed June 21 and I have yet to receive payoff overpayment due to them dragging their feet. Funny thing is they got their money from lender around 16 days ago. I visited the dealership four different times and all they would say is "is that your signature". I don't need a reply as I have heard the unethical account during those trips. Bottom line is everyone involved if giving depositions would have to purger themselves if they disagreed with the above numbers. One employee surely knows I am right and should follow the owners ******************** and conduct all business with integrity. Make it right and refund ***** less 400 to meReview fromAndrew H

1 starhorrible experience, they lend credence to the term "stealership". I wanted to buy a car from them, everything looked fine until we talked numbers. They first wanted to run my credit before we talked numbers, I refuse. The dealer then pulled out a bs detailed price that included an 11.5% sales tax, *******% dealers inventory tax, and a DEALER ADDED ACCESSORIES fee of over $5000. I laughed at their stealership faces. Eventually, after repeated refusal to pay the accessories fee, it went down from over $5000 to $0 for the accessories fee and 6.25% for the sales tax. In the end, I ghosted them because of their shady nature, bait and switch tactics and who knows what more they will add once in the final finance and contract process. Don't buy from them or haggle them to exhaustion with your due diligence.Review fromSpencer W

1 starEverybody knows how car salesman or a dealership can be but as far as this one goes all I would say is beware of what they sell you as an add on. These guys sold me a 4-Runner about a year ago and everything seemed good throughout the process. I sat down with the finance guy, ***************** who sold me a warranty that he made seem like a great deal. He assured me that my warranty covered door dings, tires, windshield cracks, etc. and yes it sounded good hearing it but he never let me read the fine print and just rushed me out of there. Well come to find out it DOES NOT cover any of the things that I was sold because there's always "something" in the fine print that keeps you from getting coverage. You won't be able to get ahold of them once they get you out of there other than through email and good luck getting a timely response there. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. But it's car salespeople, what do you expect.Review fromStephen W

1 starVandergriff Toyota - DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.I walked into ** today and wanted to buy a car from them. It was listed on their website for approximately ****k. When they then REQUOTED the price, it was with an extra $7800 they said was for the work they put into the car. It was a bait and switch situation. We ended up walking out. It seems they assumed they had the power in the situation, but they only had a used priuus, customers who wanted to buy it, and a dishonest practice to try and get more money out of us.DO NOT BUY FROM VANDERGRIFF TOYOTAReview fromThomas W

1 starWe came in to Vandergriff Toyota in ********* this weekend to buy a used car and it was bar none the worst experience buying a car I have ever had in my life. We test drove a Prius that was listed as a Certified Pre Owned vehicle for ********* . When they came back with an offer the price somehow went up to *********. Just NO. The conman (*****) who came out to give us the offer tried to convince us that because the car was listed as a *** that the difference was the fee for that. Just NO. The price on the web included the *** certification. Then he tried to make us believe the price was different in the store than it was on the web. If that is true then shame on them. My Daughter in law called to get an out the door price and their rep ****** said it would be the ********* that was listed on the web and she guaranteed that there were no other fees besides tax title and license. their people tried every trick in the smarmy dishonest used car salesman book to rip us off. I asked to see *****'s boss and was told he had left for the day.I'm sure it wouldn't have made a difference because people don't do this type of thing unless it is sanctioned from above but I would have appreciated dealing with anyone other than that man. He honestly made my skin crawl as soon as he opened his mouth. We ending up paying ******* dollars more than we should have because after 7 hours we were just exhausted. I What they were doing isn't legal in *****. It's called bait and switch. I showed them the statute. This is the 3rd and last car we will ever buy from this business. If we didn't need to replace the car that was totaled we would have walked out Saturday. We will go elsewhere from now on. I will be telling everyone that will listen to stay as far away from this business as possible.Review fromBob P

1 starBought a pre-owned vehicle back in October, expected to receive license plates and title in the mail by November, nothing arrives. Walked into the dealership in January to ask about said items, was able to receive the license plates but the title was said to be mailed. They showed me the address they had on file and it was incorrect, they didn't bother to try to update it and just said to wait till the end of January. It is now the end of February and I still don't have the title to the car. I have called twice and visited the dealership to both have ended with, "The title people are not in today" or "I need to speak to my managers about this since the salesperson you spoke with is no longer working with us."Review fromAkilah B

1 starAlmost EVERY time I come to Vanderfiff Toyota I have a complaint. This time they only had one job that was to rotate my tires. After I left I went to the gas station, not even half a mile away and noticed a hub cap missing! I went back and they were suppose to order replacements. I have yet to hear from them, now Im driving around with 3 hubcaps! Please do business elsewhere!Review fromBl G

1 starI went to get my oil change and left my wallet under the seat on accident. When I realized that I did not have my wallet I asked for Vandergriff staff to retrieve it and when it was returned 60-70$ was missing or every US dollar that was in it. Vandergriff placed blame on Lone Star, the valet staff, third party they use. No one wants to take accountability until there is a 365 day process is complete. Ridiculous.Review fromMarcella U

1 starPurchased a car Sept. 8, I have not even made the first payment. Car had about ****** miles at purchased. At ****** miles took car to get service and told them I hear a knocking sound. They did the service and told me there was catalytic converter issue and evidently the previous owner had it replaced and it was not completed correctly. My options pay ***** to repair it or trade it in. From reading these review this is not the first time this dealership has done something like this so be aware. I feel obligated to warn the community, we work hard and these tactics should not be used at a dealership that is this large.
