I have been waiting on my claims adjustment for a month. They have my car and have not sent a payment. The adjuster, *******************************, has given me the runaround. She won't return my calls or emails. Today I finally reached her, she got an attitude and hung up the phone. I don't know what is happening and they still have my car.

      Business response

The Zebra is not an insurance company and we do not have anyone's car. A claims adjuster would work for the insurance carrier that this customer has. ********************** is not an insurer. We are comparison website. The adjuster, *******************************, would work for whatever insurance policy **************** purchased. He should reach out to his insurance provider to settle his complaint.

We would be happy to help *************** compare rates for his next policy if he's unhappy, but we are not insurance providers, and do not employ claims adjusters.

The Zebra.com failed to notify me in a timely manner that would have been conducive to me being able to pay my insurance immediately. Apparently, my autopay was declined on Feb ******************************************** email on that day, I wasnt emailed until March 1 stating my policy was cancelled effective Feb 24. So Im just driving around with no idea.

TheZebra.com is an insurance comparison tool - we're glad this customer used us to find a rate! We are not an insurer. This customer had a Bristol West policy and all servicing for their insurance policy is handled by Bristol West directly, not our service team. This is a complaint for another business.

The Zebra not only did not provide the service they promised, they also clearly sold my information to third parties. I input my information believing that I would receive a list of auto insurance estimates. Instead I was given a list of other websites that would give me lists of auto insurance estimates. I was given no quotes and the only places I was redirected to are other sites that provide the exact same service, like Experian. Since I put in my phone number, I have been flooded with phone calls from other people allegedly trying to sell me auto insurance. Some may be legitimate, but some are obvious scams. I have received over a dozen calls in the last day. Some will call two or three times in quick succession after I reject their call. I have received text messages hounding me to buy car insurance and pushing me to open sketchy links. It is beyond obvious that The Zebra sold my phone number to scammers or other auto insurance companies. I have seen other complaints on here to the same end.

I use zebra to find a better rate for car insurance. They did save me money by switching my insurance provider for a better rate, however they signed me up for roadside assistance at $25 a month when I asked them not to. I have been billed for 6 months and I have made numerous attempts to cancel, without success. I finally was able to get a hold of someone to cancel today, but they will not reimburse me for the 6 months that they have charged for a service that I never wanted.

This website deceives the user into providing personal information which is then used to direct the user to a scammy imitation website that further steals the users personal information and ropes them into more insidious click wrap contracts where the user "consents" to having their personal information abused more and more. The zebras goal is to harvest marketing data and abuse their customers through deceptive web design. They make a false promise that they will retrieve insurance quotes but then use real insurance companies logos to trick their user into imitation websites operated by their "marketing partners" to steal personal information.A total scam.

The Zebra is an insurance comparison site that helps smart consumers to streamline their research process by delivering personalized insurance quotes from top companies.

We are not a lead generation site, so we never sell our users information. Heres our privacy policy: ******************************************************. I am rejecting this response because:

it doesnt resolve or address any of the issues. What TheZebra does is mislead customers, gather their information and pass it off to a large number of scammy low quality 3rd parties. TheZebra then removes a user's information from its database but it's too late. The user will be pounded by a deluge of 3rd party spam generated directly by TheZebras activity. TheZebra will then claim its not responsible for what happens on the low quality borderline illegal 3rd party partner sites it directed the unfortunate user to.

Their whole business model is an uncreative attempt to circumvent consumer protection laws specifically the do not call list and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). TheZebra and it's equally immoral partner "MediaAlpha" should be investigated and shut down for intentionally misleading consumers, and providing absolutely no value to consumers.

They and their partners are the lowest of the low.

      Regards,

Around March 2022 I used the Zebra website to find car insurance. Staff called and were helpful. Matched me with a provider (progressive), and I had the insurance for the year. I just received a renewal notice for a secondary insurance from another company Ive never heard of called **** and it automatically charged my credit card $100. Come to find out I had been charged $100 a year ago as well. I NEVER discussed or asked for a second insurance, but they signed me up using my credit card information anyway.

On March 30th, 2022, ********************* (no longer an employee of The Zebra) made an outbound call to *************************, per the customer's request. The customer was interested in a Progressive quote he saw online.

FIMC also does send notifications via email to the customer in regard to the start of this membership. This includes membership number, membership benefits, and contact information.

In December 2021 I contacted the Zebra looking for Home Owner Insurance. I talk to a guy, gave him the address of the property etc. He gave me a price I was fine with and then all the sudden he said, this has to go to underwriting and they need a picture of the front and back of the house. So I sent him the pictures email. When I didn't hear back from him close to end of December I emailed him to find out what was going on and I needed to hear something before January 13 because thats when the Insurance I have would renew. He in so many words told me he didn't know what the problem was, and to look else where. Never herd back from him. Monday, the Tenant staying in the house told me I received some mail that looks like a check. He told me it was from some place called Travelers. I ask him to mail it to me. That was Monday 2/14/2022. Yesterday 2/16/2022, the tenant called and send some more mail came to the house for me from this travelers. The reason all this was so odd is because I don't live in Georgia, never have, I just own a house there. I ask him to open it, and it was from Travelers insurance company. It was Automobile Policy Declaration for a 2014 ***** which I don't and never have owned. I called travelers and gave them the Policy #. The women told me the policy was cancelled a few days ago. She told me it came through The Zebra. With identity theft on the rise and I've been a victim of Identity theft in the past this is very upsetting. She gave me a phone # to call and it was the Zebra phone #. After my experience with them I don't trust calling and giving them anymore information about me. She told me she flagged / noted on their end and I should contact The Zebra, which I don't feel is an option at this point.

      ************** -

Please accept our deepest apologies for the mix-up regarding the auto policy issued under your name recently. After a thorough investigation on our part, an agent accidentally issued a policy under your name as the last name and city were the same as another client. The error was realized quickly, but the insurer accidentally sent correspondence to you instead of the other client.

Our customer service team reached out to you in the last few days to explain the entire situation in detail, and I hope that we can assure you that there was no fraudulent activity and that it was merely an error on our part.
I hope we have resolved this complaint to your satisfaction and consider the matter closed. If you have additional questions or comments, please reach out directly at [email protected]

      Thank you and apologies again.
