I find Care.com's business practices to be very deceptive. Like many on-line services, there is a subscription fee that will renew over time. There is no email or in-app notification that your subscription is about to auto-renew. Funds are just deducted from your account. It is the responsibility of the end-user to REMEMBER when their subscription will renew. Care.com is inflexible with their policy on no refunds on subscription fees. Obviously, this is a highly profitable revenue stream for them. Furthermore, once I cancelled my subscription, I received an email confirming such, and a second email requesting I review my experience. Care.com can't automate an email to remind me that my subscription is going to renew? Shame on Care.com.Review from Chris S

Should be investigated as a criminal organization. The recurring charges are ridiculous and they make it nearly impossible to cancel. They were even able to continue to charge after I cancelled the card. How is that even possible? Avoid care.com at all costs.Care.com Inc. Response

Our service is by subscription so members have the convenience of using their premium benefits whenever they need them. Care.com is a scam company that is backed by lots of money with which no regular citizen can afford to compete in the legal arena. A class action lawsuit should be brought against them.Here is why they are a scam:1) When you need to reset a forgotten password, it is near impossible to create a new one. You must devote time and energy that most people do not have. Without a password you cannot access your account, which means you cannot cancel.2) They have hidden their Cancel Membership option beneath layers and layers of fluff on their app/website, so much so that you cannot find it in one sitting, or even two sittings.3) They do not send receipts after charging your credit card. Therefore, they can be charging you repeatedly until you happen to notice it on your credit card statement. How can they get away with charging you without sending an email or text receipt? Seems illegal.4) Their customer service is a front just so that they appear to have a dedicated team for addressing customer issues, when in fact there is really no one who can help you with anything.I wish that someone with enough money would initiate a lawsuit so that poor, unsuspecting people do not fall into the trap that lies behind Care.coms scamming. How the folks at the top of the company can sleep each night with the knowledge they have of their scam is beyond me.Care.com Inc. Response

Ive been trying to cancel and delete my account. Ive tried every tip they provide. but none of them work. I tried to do it on my computer, but it takes me to a link to download the app on my phone. They do not care about me and they took my money. I saw tutors for my daughter on a Friday afternoon-some reasonable prices. The website encouraged me to click on one and reach out. The next page asked to pay to join. The fee was $38 so I thought it sounded reasonable. I put my information in and the next screen wanted $79 for a background check. That was crazy so I immediately tried to cancel. An hour later I emailed enough to cancel but was told I could not get a refund. The bot said it was in their agreement terms. I saw no terms to read and thought not wanting to go through with it after less than a minute should be OK for a refund. Now it is the next Wednesday and I finally have an email saying I am not eligible for a refund. Nearly all purchases are refundable (especially if requested after less than a minute of purchase. The bottom line is,THEY DON'T CARE!Care.com Inc. Response

Hi ****, I apologize for your frustration. All Care.com initial upgrades are non-refundable but I am sorry that you were not aware. I do want to note that the screen you viewed showing the cost of the background check was meant to show you part of the benefits of your Premium subscription,one of which is you have the option to request to run a background check on a caregiver in whom you may be interested in hiring. Background checks do come with an additional cost, but as someone searching for care, you are able choose whether you are going to purchase one and are not required to do so. If you would like to confirm your charges on your account, you can view your Billing History by logging in and going to Account & Settings > Credit Card Information > View Billing History. Predatory and cannot wait until they are replaced. Impossible to communicate with caregivers unless you subscribe to premium, does not list your subscription end date but DOES auto renew you with a clear no refund for any unused portion. Cannot delete YOUR credit card information until you give them another. No easy to locate customer service line - safety issues!!! Less than a start deserved. To ensure the safety of our community and to support our efforts in providing you a high quality service, you will need to upgrade to a paid Premium Membership if you would like to begin the screening process (contacting caregivers to schedule interviews, requesting background checks, or checking references from their previous employers) with your potential candidates.To view your subscription information, please follow these steps:
-Log in to your account
-Click on Privacy & Settings" from the menu choices on the left side of your screen
-Scroll down to the "Membership Information" section
Here you will see the next billing date and the next billing amount. To view your billing history, scroll down a little further to the "Credit Card Information" section and click "View Billing History"The Auto Renew feature is indicated on our enrollment page, and it's also featured in our Terms of Use, which all members agree to at the time of enrollment on Care.com.?
You can only remove your credit card information if you have a Basic membership. If you currently have a Premium subscription, you must wait until your membership downgrades to delete your credit card information.

when I logged in (don't even remember opening an account) there was a name associated with the account that was not my name, but no problem for them because they sure took my money! I was looking for a house cleaner in a short window of time. I wrote to at least 6 house cleaners but within 2 days, I heard nothing. I tried the chat and after I waded thru stupid questions, a person came on the chat and she addressed me. I tried to answer her but there was NO place for me to write my question! In about a minute, the chat person typed "since Ive not heard from you, I am closing the chat." Today, I got this email Thank you for using Care.com, but were not able to continue your membership. Starting today, your account is closed.I actually closed my account before that, but you know what they went ahead with...charging me for signing up. By using these types of services is to feel comfortable with whom you let in your house so I was reading the very small print and found this sentence, you should do your own due diligence. If your account was closed, it most likely means you do not meet our eligibility guidelines. If you paid for a subscription and were closed immediately after, the system most likely issued you a refund, however it does sometimes take up to a week to process through your bank. There needs to be a negative review # for this scam company.They charged me without my agreement to charge, i fought the $89 charge with my credit card but the con's that they are, they showed my credit card company some sort of made up IT data, so i was stuck with being robbed by them. When i requested a refund, their ibot refused, was not helpful, nor was their support email, or phone person. So they may have in the end successfully stolen my $89 dollars, but they will lose much more than that because I nor anyone i come in contact with from now until I'm gone will NOT use their service because they are scammers that steal from those they are supposed to serve. If you need a sitter service - use your local face book chats. it is free, and you can screen just as well as you can using the NO Care.com app.Care.com Inc. Response
