In August of 2023 I made the apartment complex manager aware of the ceiling in the bathroom leaking and asked for the wall to be replaced due to me seeing mildew/mold beginning to form. The property manager at the time ************************* and other office personnel ********************* contacted me after maintenance came out and stated that the wall was not wet and that he fixed the leak from upstairs and the wall didnt need to be replaced because they sprayed something to make sure mold will not form. After I received the information I contacted them again and let them know that the information given to them by maintenance was not accurate and that the wall was wet and hanging. They then sent maintenance again and stated that they took care of the problem and marked it as completed. However the wall still appeared the same. After going back and forth I gave up on proving to them that the wall was still messed up even with my pictures and videos. In November of 2023 and there is now mold on the wall which caused me to become sick and miss work. I reached out and requested we be let out of the lease because we were paying for hotels due to the smell and the humidity and wetness of our bathroom due to the mold. I explained that I didnt want to stay there anymore because I addressed a health hazard and they made me feel like I was crazy and didnt know anything about mildew or mold. The new property manager *********************** then began to gaslight me saying it could be allergies because of the weather and making up other things it could be other than what I stated to her. She then refused to let me out the lease because of unknown reason. She stated I have to pay a fee to break the lease. She also stated I couldnt prove it was mold and that I need to hire a professional to come evaluate to see if it is mold which cost ******* dollars. Today on November 20th at approximately 10:30 am the maintenance came and cut out the Sheetrock and it was mold.

    Business response

This is the email correspondence I had with ******************************* throughout the short time I was aware of the mildew issue that she was having, and within 2 hours of her notifying me, I was at her apartment with ********************* to take care of the issue. She also stated she was working in ******* now, so it was obvious that she just wanted out of her lease. I followed proper protocols and did everything I could to resolve the issue, but she was very uncooperative and ugly about the entire situation. None of what she stated is true about anybody gaslighting her or trying to avoid the issue. We did our due diligence to make the necessary repairs and she refused to allow us entry.  I also have over 20 pictures of our apartments condition upon her vacating and the mess she left for us to clean up and haul off. It was a total disaster, so she was sent to collections for the damages.
