On November 20th, 2023, I received an email from **************************************** about an opportunity to participate in a research study, for which I would be compensated for. The compensation was supposed to be for $125 and took one hour.Prior to participating, there were preliminary steps that I was to undertake. First, I had to qualify for the study. I was given a link that went to a 20 minute questionnaire, which I completed and was informed I was accepted into the study. The next step was to give my contact information so I could be reached via phone and email.I then received a phone call from the company. During the 10 minute phone call, I was given further instructions regarding participation in the study. Some of the rules were that I had to have a PC with video and microphone capabilities, and had to perform an equipment test prior to participating. I confirmed my availability and was sent an email for an equipment test. I followed the link for the equipment test and my computer passed the test.On the date of the "study", I logged into the website with the login information given, following the link provided to me via email. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I was finally told that they no longer needed me, that they had enough participants already, and that I was to wait for a possible follow up email for rescheduling. The focus group I participated in was very unorganized and unprofessional. I had to ask several times what was going on and was told to just wait. Overall, I wasted a lot of time and effort, including clearing my schedule to be available, only to have my data gathered for free and not compensated for it. I would like to receive the compensation I was guaranteed, as I find it extremely unprofessional and dishonest to make false claims of payment in order to gather free information from someone by leading them to believe they'll be compensated, when there was no intention on doing so. I'd like to also raise awareness and warn others.

    Hello ******************,

A check was written and mailed on December 18th, which is 3 business days after the study closed (as promised) to the address you provided. If you did not receive the check, you can simply call us. We would easily cancel the 1st one, and issue a 2nd one. We have always and will always pay our respondents. As you can see, we have a great rating because we do not operate like that.

If you would like to give us a call, perhaps this can be a simple resolve

    Sincerely,

    ***************************************
