I was permanently banned from Hinge in January 2025 without warning or a clear explanation. The notice I received cited a generic T&C violation, but did not detail what exactly led to this action.I immediately submitted an appeal through the in-app form, but that form only allows for a very limited response. I didnt feel I had a fair chance to explain my side. I then followed up multiple times via e-mail, with thoughtful and respectful appeals that outlined my position, but I have never received a response.I also submitted a formal request asking for a statement of reasons, but that too has gone unanswered. It has been very difficult as a user to feel completely shut out, especially after engaging in good faith through every available channel.I am someone who genuinely values connection and community and have always strived to use Hinge respectfully. Im writing to request a review of a recent ban placed on my account. Ive been using Hinge since 2021 and have always strived to follow the apps guidelines and behave respectfully toward other users. I was recently banned without explanation, and I believe this may have been an error or the result of a false report.I had just matched with someone and we were planning to meet in person when I suddenly received a notification that my account was banned. It was disheartening, especially because this app has been one of the few reliable ways to form real connections. Not receiving any specific reason for the ban has made it even more frustrating.I did create a second account recently after my primary account had issues with the travel feature, so I didnt realize that it violated terms, but it was done only to continue using the app when the feature wouldnt work properly on my main accountnot to deceive or abuse the platform in any way.I respectfully ask that you reconsider the ban or at least provide some clarity about what happened. Hi, On May 2nd, 2025, I received a notice from the Hinge app that states: "Your account has been removed. Your account was banned for violating our Terms of Service". I tried to appeal directly with Hinge and I got the following response on the same day: "Our team has reviewed your appeal request and confirmed that you are in violation of our Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines. Therefore, your account will remain banned. This decision is informed and final and subsequent appeals will not be considered". After carefully reviewing Hinge's Term of Service, I am still uncertain about the specific reasons for my removal and which community guidelines I may have unknowingly violated. It seems that the actions taken against my account did not allow me to defend myself or gain insights into any potential mistakes. I kindly request a reconsideration of my account removal, with the hope of being reinstated on the platform. I genuinely enjoyed using Hinge to connect with new people and form meaningful relationships so I decided to subscribe to their 3-month HingeX program in March for $99.99. This abrupt termination of my account baffled me. Dear BBB and Hinge representative,
Thank you for your response. From previous complaints on BBB, this is another automated, template response Hinge sends out for clients seeking answers. Hinge claims to care about privacy, but when my friend was wrongly terminated earlier this year his matches received an email from Hinge, including his name and profile, stating that he committed fraud. This is defamation and I suspect my matches will receive a similar email with an actual reason that Hinge chose to not disclose with me. If you claim to care so much about privacy, what about my privacy?
I read and understood the risk of my account being terminated at any time, but how is it even ethical for Hinge to lure its customer in to pay for better algorithm then decides to hide behind Apples paywall after abruptly terminating its customers profiles and violating their trust. Many complaints I have read on BBB include a similar experience to mine that all get resolved eventually with a reinstatement of their account. I find it unjust and discriminatory if Hinge decides to ban me permanently for something that I (and they) barely knew if I had really done.
Im the type of customer that reads the fine prints of terms and service and always abides to their rules. All of my photos have remained the same since day 1 without explicit content and I attest to never have said or solicited anything malicious, fraudulent, or sexual. Its not until I decided to pay for HingeX that this ban emerged.
I hope BBB can mediate this process and holds Hinge accountable for their actions. All I ask is that my account be reinstated because I solemnly swear there was no way I had violated a term of their service. I love Hinge and, as a busy professional, its been my main way of meeting new people and forming meaningful relationships. A permanent ban would put a huge toll on my mental health and exacerbates my social anxiety.
