      I rented furniture from this place about a year ago for the past year ive been been paying them and have even got another couch from them after they gave me ome with bed bugs. Recently in July i was late on a payment which they understand and extended. The dsy my payment was due they were asking for more then i owed so i wuestioned them and said i will pay them but i will like to see my charges. Immediately ******* ******** the owner got defensive and told me i was to broke and couldnt afford my bills. Shortly after i got multiple notifications of my debits cards attempting to be charged after hours. I let them know AGAIN i was going to pay i just wanna see my charges. Inwas ignored and charged a total of $259 when my balance was $133 i went to the store and asked why he would do that and that i did not consent to it. I asked him to show me where i consented since he said i did and he told me "i dont need to show you" and that he doesnt have "time for people like me" (a black woman) he did not charge cards in MY name it was in a family members name who is not involved with them. After they saw i was recording them his wife started yelling at me to get out or they were calling the police because i kept asking for my money n to "pay my bills on time". After everything, i still kept paying on my products. One day they told me the charges from July had been disputed and i owe them $547 even though i have BEEN paying them still. I let them know i never disputed anything and how their customer service was so bad and hurtful and he continued to tell me how "no one cares what i think" and how im going to jail for theft. I never held them bsck from getting the products, they never came and got them. I informed them i will keep paying and they insister i had pay what was disputed by a certain day (4 days away) i kept telling them i never did that and they charged cards that were not in my name which i told them in July. Now it is september and im being told im going to jail.

      Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/21) */ To address the "bed bug issue": Our store did not give Ms **** bed bugs. Bedbugs can come from anywhere, including Ms **** herself, her roommates or anyone who enters the home. They can also come from her neighbors or be brought in from someone else's home or anywhere you go. After Ms **** complained about bed bugs almost a year ago we haven't heard anything about it again since. Thus, obviously the issue was taken care of somehow, or never existed in the first place. After we picked up the furniture from Ms **** we had it inspected and there were no bed bugs in the furniture. We had it cleaned as we always do after a customer rents furniture and returns it. After it was cleaned a year ago it was rented by someone else who had no complaints. To address the July issue: Ms **** was a week late on July 7 so she was called and we explained this to her. She agreed to pay the next day, that's all our staff remembers about that specifically. The payment she is complaining about when we ran her cards was actually on July 1 when $259 was ran on her cards on file. The paperwork she signed states that if her account is a week past due or more and she does not communicate with us about the payment, we will run her card to take care of the past due payment owed. So this was what was done. We did not know whose name was on the card as she paid with it before over the phone and never indicated to us it was someone else's card. The conversation she mentioned did not happen that way. Ms **** came into the store screaming and yelling and cursing to the point we had to call the police on her. That is why she left, not because anyone kicked her out. It was because we told her we were calling the police on her and she was afraid she would get arrested after how she acted. Ms **** has NOT allowed us to pickup our merchandise and has in fact MOVED the merchandise TWICE now without telling us in an effort to avoid us. As of now Ms **** has disputed the $259 payment which backed up her due date a month since that payment is null now. She does not understand how that works either and is currently refusing to pay what she owes. The amount she owes is now $819 as she is almost a month past due and is required to be at least a month ahead per the contract she signed. The $819 also includes the $259 disputed payment. The last time she contacted us she said she would pay on September 6th but did not pay. We have not heard from her since 9/8/22 when she threatened us with reporting us to various bureaus including your for doing nothing wrong. Since then she has blocked all our phone numbers, moved our merchandise and refused to pay. All those behaviors are indicative of someone trying to steal our merchandise. That is why we have had no choice but to file theft charges against her. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/09/22) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Attached below are videos and pictures of the bed bugs found in the couch the same day it was delivered. I had just moved in that same week. Brand new carpet and all i do not have roomates it was just my son and i. There were not bed bugs prior to this. Attached you will see dead and alive bed bugs and alot of them for it to be in my home not even 12 hours. He told me he would get someone to clean my carpets, never did. So i hired someone myself and thats ehy he never heard about it again. So there is lie # 1. And to the July situation, he failed to mention i paid a partial payment of $50 and that is why you see me asking if my remaining balance is $96. We were in contact days prior which you will see aswell so im not sure why hes saying I contacted them AFTER july 7th when i infact did not. He charged my card $259, $123 more then my balance, because of a dispute over text between us after he insinuated that i was broke because i asked to see my charges. If it was "collections" like he said, then they wouldve charged my balance owed not him being petty and overcharging me which you can hear his reasoning as to why he did in the video attached below. As for the conversation in store, i did NOT come in screaming in yelling which is on video aswell. I came in asking why he charged me an amount i didnt owe and to show me where i consented. I informed him that card was not in my name and he didnt care. Again, refer to the attached video for proof. I got defensive once he started saying he didnt have to show me my agreement and he was available "for people like me" once i stopped recording his wife started yelling at me and saying "pay your bills on time" and threatened to csll the police, they never did because i called them first. I sat outside and waited on the police. I NEVER MOVED TWICE i moved last year and went to the store when we were in good standings to update my address. So for him to say i have moved twice to avoid him how could i move twice in 2 months since this situation happened? I have not moved at all. Hes stating that i agreed to pay September 6 which i NEVER did. I infact told him i never disputed a charge and the amount he was asking for would not be able to get paid within 3 days. He was INSISTING i pay on the 6th. Now he filed false charges because based off everything said here that are lies because i have proof to bsck up everything im 100% sure he lied to the police to file the charges. I never kept their furniture from them they never came to pick them up and his mover came to me while i was waiting on poloce outside the store and said "Man i told you he would screw you over. If he send me to your house im not going you dont deserve what hes doing" and then walked away. Below i will attach text messages from the day he charged my card, video from when i went to the store, emails about the dispute, etc. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/09/23) */ The bed bug issue is closed, this happened a year ago. And as stated before bed bugs could come from anywhere and we know they didn't come from our furniture after inspecting it after we picked it up a year ago. The customer has a different address on this report than what we have so YES she did move TWICE. Either that or she lied about her address on this complaint. The fact remain this customer is over $800 past due, something she has not disputed in her response. The contract she signed is a rental contract with the option to own. It states the customer must return the property if it is not paid for, which in this case it hasn't been for months. The customer has the ability to pay over the phone or online and has refused to do so. The customer has also refused to return our property she rented. That is theft in Texas based on the penal code. The theft charges will be dropped if the merchandise is paid for or returned. Other than that we cannot do anything to satisfy this customer because of the lies and unreasonable behavior she has exhibited in the store, over the phone and now in this complaint. Again, shown in the photos and videos the bed bugs did in fact come from their furniture. I do NOT owe over $800 again, the lies are ridiculous and the fraud is as well. They sell products over 15% of the store price. I have been nothing but truthful and willing to this company but the constant disrespect, slander, and lies to the police themselves is why i am here on this complaint. This company is a fraud and needs to be shut down. ******* ******** does not care about customers or his professionalism. They are very unreasonable and chose to randomly bring up a "dispute" that i DID NOT make after i made a payment to them they brought this dispute up 2 MONTHS after the incident. They did not speak ok the fact that they charged my card $123 OVER what was owed and when questioned ******* says "Oh just to catch you up incase you missed again" (on video as well) that is stealing and fraud. I did not consent to be "ahead" just because he got mad that i was questioningy charges and how they were not adding up. I do have a lawyer involved because this company, his store specifically, is fraud and they are not honest people. I will not continue to be lied about or slandered because they do not want to take accountability amd come up with a resolution that fits both parties. They are talking about my "behavior" but i was not acting out in anyway until ******* said he didnt "have time for people LIKE ME" like me? Colored? Concerned? A PAYING CUSTOMER??? Until his wife decided to jump in and start yelling at me so yes i will defend myself. The way these people run this company is disgusting amd has put me in emotional distress. I have never been treated this horribly by a "business" EVER. Ive had them for a year and mever had an issue until i questioned my charges amd why they weren't consistent and asked to be showed them which i NEVER was. Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2022/09/27) */ This is ridiculous. I didn't think BBB complaints were meant to be a forum for a lying customer to defame our company like she has. We are now considering filing a lawsuit against her for her defamatory and untrue remarks in addition to the theft charges. All she has to do is call or email the store to pay or arrange for a return of our merchandise she hasn't paid for, yet she refuses to do so. She is obviously using this forum to delay payment, we cannot accept that, which is the reason for the theft charges. We've been in business a decade and have never had a BBB complaint after dealing with thousands of customers so it's clear who is at fault here. We request you close this ridiculous case in our favor and suggest strongly to Ms **** to unblock the store's numbers so she can call or text or email the store to settle this account before a warrant is issued for her arrest. Please pay attention to their reviews amd customer complaints about things almost similar. I have nothing but proof from pictures, screenshots, recordings, voicemails etc. everything that will prove this company is fraud. I will leave this in my lawyer, the BBB, and the FTC hands. This compamy needs to be shut down asap. ******* ******** should not be allowed to run a business especially one that focuses on customer service. Thank you.
