8/31/23-initial dentist office visit, was told specifically what was needed and the cost of those items, set up a payment option with sunbit and paid that + additional $ out of pocket. Was told to come back in a few weeks, implant would be ready. Family hardship occurred and was told I still needed to pay the balance. Was set up on an additional payment plan ~$500 per month. There was a minimal balance due (considering ) after 2023- paid off balance in May, scheduled appointment for ***** Between my husband and I talking with the office, nothing was mentioned that there may be issues getting new tooth installed. EVER, confirmed with the office today the only time patient was told was initial visit. 8/31/23. They are the experts in their craft and knew it was a possible issue, still scheduled the appointment-showed up, only to be told it was not an option any more and we would incur additional charges. Called business and spoke with manager. Was told nothing was refundable, even though installation of tooth was already paid for and cavities left unfilled. At minimum, installation and all charges related to implant and cavities not filled should be refunded to rectify this situation. No insurance was used, all of this is out of pocket.Business Response

The person who has filed this complaint is not a patient, but her husband is. He was seen on 8/31/23 for needed treatment. Patient was given an option of and extraction or root canal/crown to try and save the natural tooth. This is what he chose to do. The Doctor ********* all the work that the patient wanted. He was to come back to permanently cement the crown and never did. He was also set up on a payment plan in office, where he never paid. The only reason anyone called on account was because a collection company got involved. Fast forward the patient paid the collection company and was seen on 6/5/24. Patient was hoping to get the permanent crown. When Doctor **rayed tooth and examined it, it was broken to the root. Unfortunately it is not savable. How would anyone know the condition on someone's tooth from 10 months ago? Not once did the patient even tell the receptionist that it was broken. Patient was given option on what he could do from this point. He became very loud and aggressive towards the Doctor and staff members. When I got up to go speak to him and deescalate the situation, he stormed out smashing our glass door to our waiting room into the wall, causing damage to both. The patients wife was speaking to me via email, while she also filed this complaint. I can attach all signed documents and consents if wanted. At this time, the patient will need to contact office to transfer to another practice.Initial Complaint

I called Dosset Dental in ******, ** on April 23, 2024 to see about making a new patient appointment for myself to come in for an exam. I chose Dosset Dental because they claim on their website that they offer a free exam and x-ray for new patients. The woman that answered the phone informed me the new patient exam would cost me $100. When I asked her why the exam would cost me $100 when the website said it was free she said oh, the exam is only free if you were coming in for a cleaning or the like, but not if you were coming in for anything else! I told her no thank you and to cancel my appointment. Thinking that I must have missed some fine print language when I initially read the website I went back and reread it and no, I didn't miss anything, it just says free exams with x-rays for new patients with no other stipulations listed (please go and read it for yourself.) I am age 63 and not much shocks me anymore, but I find such a blatant example of false advertising almost inconceivable in 2024 - if this is not against the law it should be! I don't how anyone could or should trust any business, especially a medical provider, who would even try to perpetrate this something this sleazy.Business Response

Our new patient exam and x-ray special is for comprehensive exam and x-rays. If you are calling for an emergency same day appointment, then that would not apply. According to what I know you were looking for same day appointment. Now if a emergency appointment needs to do same day treatment, we absorb that fee into the work that is needed. I do not know if you were not explained that on the phone, but I do apologize for the confusion.Initial Complaint

On June 20, 2023, I went to my annual maintenance visit for my implants. At Dossett Dental ****************************************************** ************.6-8-2021 price was $550.00.6-13-2022 price was $650.00.6-20-2023 price was $1696.00.The dentist before or the dentist on June 20, 2023, stripped the heads on 2 each screws in my lower implants.A nurse, I called the office, (***** Vnygmrthy) from the front called me back), came into the room, to show me a piece a paper, of which I could not read, as I did not have my glasses on. She claims she verbally explained the paper, but the dentist was working on my implant, and I did not hear her.She says, I could have refused the new screws!!!!. She expected me to leave without all of the screws needed to hold my implants in!!!!. They charged me $500.00 for each s**** $1000.00 extra for something I did not cause.I paid them $32000.00 for my implants installed in 12-14-2017.I was told that usually the screws last forever. The implants should last forever, if I take care of them.I am 74 years old and a 100% disabled veteran. I could have had this done at the VA. I was told this was a very good place to have implants installed. Turns out that isn't true.I do not see how they can charge me for their mistake.I feel this is unfair and underhanded, to try and get extra money out of **** feel like they are taking advantage of old people, who they think cannot fight back. I do not have health insurance; I pay out of my pocket. The VA pays only if they refer me to a vendor on their approved list.*****************************Customer Answer

I was wrong about the nurse from the front office telling me about the extra $1000.00 cost.
She did tell me there would be the extra cost of $1000.00.
Sorry for the mistake.
I have severe PTSD from my time in ******* and sometimes I forget things.

This above patient was informed of the maintenance and repairs that were needed prior to starting anything. He came in for his permanent prosthetic to be cleaned, which he does yearly. He was aware of that price, which was increased from years prior. He did have some repairs that needed to be done and this is common since this procedure was done in 2017. There is and never was a lifetime warranty on this and the patient is aware of it. There is a warranty on the implants (some exclusions) from the implant company. But this procedure will have somethings that need to be replaced as the years go on, or if you damage them. The person that was stated here is someone that was not here that day or even work for us at this location. Attached you will see the signed treatment plan from the patient, as this is gone over prior to treatment starting.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
Where is the signed agreement?
Nobody explained to me as I remember at the Start of the appointment.
The only thing I remember is I paid the annual fee of $696.00 before the procedure, as usual, as agreed.
Who in their office explained this to me?
Why should I pay for Screws that the Dentist stripped out?
If I break my implants because I caused it, I expect to pay for the repairs. I never touched the screws.
This is not what I expected from Dossett.
I still think they are taking advantage of the elderly, as if insurance will pay the $1000.00 for 2 screws.
They need to adjust the $500.00 for each s**** price for me, no insurance here.
I pay it out of my pocket.
What other business charges a customer for their mistake?
How many other people have had to pay for screws?
What are the screws made of?

Attached in last response is the signed treatment plan. When you originally had this surgery back in 2017, you also signed consents of treatment. No dental work is warrantied for life sir. *** must maintain whatever you have for the duration you have it, and that comes with a fee. We make sure that everything is explained, prior to consents and treatment plans being signed. This is gone over many times. I'm sorry you have some confusion with what happened that day, but I can assure you the Doctor and Manager go over each item thoroughly prior to procedures. Dossett Dental did nothing wrong here, as we have signed treatment plans, therefore there will no refund given.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
So, you are telling me I am responsible, for a pair of screws, of which I never touched?
You are the only people to touch the screws!!
How do you justify that?
Are the screws you put in my mouth of inferior quality?
$32000.00 should have provided better screws.
You charged as if you took out my implants and screwed in the 1 s**** as a separate visit X 2 at $500.00 each. $1000.00 At $500.00 per screw!!
You only charged me $696.00 for almost one hour in the chair and 1 x-ray.
On any level this cannot be right.
You are trying to pull a fast one on me and I do not appreciate it.
A correction to your bill is in order.

When covid vaccines allow the reopening of business practices, I needed to finish dental work stopped when everything shut down. So I was a first time patient to Dossett Dental. Dr. *** was great and I was confident in her skills. I paid about $550-$600 for the model. I was notified when it was in. But there was a new covid, and as Primary caregiver to 90 yr old, we were forced back into isolation again to see if it would get better. It took nearly a year for things to get where she could resume her active life, with masking, distancing, and washing. I reached out to Dossett to finally see the model and start the planned work. I was told Dr. *** was no longer there and they didn't have my model. It has been a year now, me calling at least once a month, them promising they would speak to Dr. *** and find out where it is. Then it is another story and every time, I am told someone will call me. Not a single call to me. My first call, I was spoken to rudely and told, neary a year that passed does not require them to know anything about where my model is. I had given them notice of my change and lockdown again and would have to wait to resume until covid shifted my circumstances again. I have now been a year waiting on them to simply call me back and let me know what has been done to my model. Each time they make the same promise, to have the person who knows, return my call once they find out what happened to it. I am in pain and desperate need to resume my dental work. I paid for the model, so I want the model. If they lost it, or Dr. *** took it, that isn't my problem. I don't know how to make these people do what they are required to do. Either they need to produce my model, or my money. They are now the example of taking a year, ignoring all my calls and efforts to get my model so I can find a new Dr. ***, or go to the original one who may can assist me in finding a qualified prospect to perform the work. I need my model or my money refunded.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2023/01/18) */ This patient has not been in our office for over 18 months and was refunded for this prior to this complaint. Consumer Response /* (2000, 8, 2023/01/18) */ I made contact with the owner of the dental company and she was very courteous. We discussed the failures along the way and most were beyond her ability to control as my model was evidently taken by the dentist that left the practice and they couldn't locate it. She offered to refund the entire cost of the model in any way I preferred. I chose to have it credited to my account so that I could continue future work there for me and my husband and it can be drawn from to cover deductibles. I am satisfied with Jennifer *******'s handling and the customer relationship continues. **** **********
