Despite the extensive structural damage caused by a large tree fall, a professional engineer (PE) from Rimkus Engineering concluded that structural repairs were not required to meet building code requirements. This conclusion starkly contradicts the assessments provided by multiple licensed structural engineers and an architect we engaged, who have determined that significant repairs are indeed required to ensure the property's safety and compliance with local building codes.Upon evaluating the existing conditions, our licensed professionals have identified the following necessary repairs to meet minimum code requirements:Provision of a ridge board to ensure the structural integrity of the roof.Increase in rafter depth to accommodate the existing spans, critical for the support and stability of the roof structure.Raising of the roof to provide the minimum required clearances, essential for both compliance and safety.Addition of kneewalls to support the raised roof, a structural necessity for the modified roof design.Decrease in roof pitch to maintain the existing building height, ensuring compliance without compromising the property's aesthetic and structural design.Various other code requirements omitted or misrepresented by your engineer and Associate Consultant The recommendations provided by our licensed professionals represent the minimum necessary modifications to meet local building code requirements. The refusal of Rimkus Engineering to acknowledge the necessity of these repairs not only disregards the professional and licensed assessments but also poses significant safety risks to the occupants and potential legal and financial ramifications due to non-compliance with local building codes.******** ********** Engineering Practice Act: In regards to ********** Engineering, as a Professional Engineer in ******** cannot offer or perform any ********** services. That requires a separate ********** Engineering license. Only an ******** licensed ********** Engineer can perform ********** services in ******** Lack of Consent: At no point did we give consent for our statements, notes, reports, or any other documents to be used in a manner that misrepresents our position or the facts of the case.Accuracy: We have found that some of our statements have been misrepresented or taken out of context, further questioning the validity of the assessment conducted by Rimkus Engineering.Failure to address these concerns promptly will compel us to take further action, including but not limited to seeking legal recourse for the potential endangerment of the property and its occupants.We expect a formal response from Rimkus Engineering acknowledging this complaint and outlining the steps you will take to rectify this situation.
