We have asked Christus Health Plan to remove my late mother's name and our address from their mail list more than once and we still continue to get unwanted soliciting mail from them. Even Medicare knows she has passed away over 4 years ago. This is soliciting mail going to a deceased. If we continue to receive unwanted soliciting mail from them we will take legal actions.

Concerns with my right arm lead me to see Dr. A. ******** on 8/8/22. I saw the physician in a doctors office building at **** ********* Drive Corpus Christi. This was a doctors office not a hospital. I was seen in a simple exam room. I received a basic encounter with the PCP and was issued a simple wrist brace and steroid injection into my shoulder administered by a medical assistant. I am appalled at the bills I received. The first bill stating charges of $935.71 and an additional bill followed for 309.00. My 15-minute office visit was billed at $1244.71. The services I received were limited to physician talking with me for less than 15 minutes, a medical assistant giving me a simple steroid injection. When I contacted the business office and requested a breakdown of the costs involved and why the visit was so expensive I was told nothing more than that the bill was correct and I was welcome to make payments. I asked for a breakdown on the costs because the bill is very general and not specific. I was told there was no more information available other than what appeared on the bill. I spoke with the physician who saw me about the bill. The physician expressed great displeasure over the amounts I was charged and the lack of explanation. I spoke to the manager of the office I was seen at and the manager expressed to me she felt the bill was very expensive and that I should appeal the charges. I spoke with a manager over CHRISTUS health clinics Humberto Ramos who suggested to me in an email that I was charged for a procedure. I did not receive anything other than what is listed above. I did not have any sort of procedure. I am very disgusted at the charges I have received and the lack of specific explanation of charges. I am told that if I do not pay the charges I will be turned into collection. CHRISTUS states on its website the mission is to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. I find CHRISTUS to be deceptive and dishonest.

Business Response /* (1000, 17, 2022/11/28) */ Dear Mr. *******, Thank you for bringing your complaint to our attention. We strive to provide excellent service, and we appreciate you making us aware of your experience regarding your billing concerns, as it will help us improve our services. CHRISTUS Spohn contracts with an external vendor to conduct annual charge pricing reviews to ensure charges are reasonable and appropriate for the industry. Pricing reviews include comparisons to peer organizations in the community for similar services. In addition, patient responsibility for charges varies based on the treatment performed, as well as the contracted rate agreements between each hospital and the individual patient's/member's insurance company/plan, which includes their benefits (i.e. Deductible, coinsurance, copays, not covered under the specific plan, etc.). As you were previously informed by CHRISTUS Spohn, the charges billed to patients are based on the hospital charge master, which sets forth the charges for treatment at the hospital. Further, although you state you were seen in a doctor's office, not a hospital, the office you were treated at is a hospital outpatient department, and therefore it is part of the hospital, not a freestanding doctor's office. In addition, an injection is considered a procedure and is therefore billed as one. Support services tried reaching you regarding the final decision but were unsuccessful in making contact. The charges are valid and we are unable to give a discounted balance. We truly appreciate you choosing our company as your service provider, and we hope you continue to use our services in the future. Please accept our sincerest apology for any trouble or inconvenience this has caused. Thank you, Consumer Response /* (3000, 19, 2022/11/30) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) This is a canned response and still gives no specific breakdown to the charges I received. CHRISTUS claims to have attempted to contact me however I have no missed calls or voice-mail. CHRISTUS has in fact made no attempt to contact me about a breakdown on the charges. The continued deception and dishonesty is disappointing. I will be certain I share my experiences of CHRISTUS with everyone I can as a warning that consumers avoid being taken advantage of as happened to me. I expected a call from the business providing specific detail on the charges but CHRISTUS has failed to attempt to reach me.

I went in for a problem with my feet and they wanted to get a weight bearing x-ray. I told them that I had just gotten x-rays less than a month before at the same doctors office or I should say inside the CHRISTUS Network. I told them I didn't wanna do it. I told them that it was an unnecessary thing that they were going to. Additionally charge me for asked for a supervisor. Eventually they said you just need to get it done so I did it and now they're billing me for over $300 I've tried to dispute it through them. I've been told that it has been submitted to that department that has been two months. I've asked them you know what's going on. Oh let me resubmit it still no response. I told them it would not show anything because the previous x-ray didn't show anything.

Thank you Business Response /* (1000, 19, 2022/11/28) */ Dear Mr. ******, Thank you for bringing your complaint to our attention as this will help us evaluate how we can prevent this problem from occurring again in the future. August 1st I received a MRI referral for a lower lumbar scan and went to the hospital. I presented my information and paid my 200 dollar co-pay, asked if anything else would be needed from me and proceeded to get the scan. after 2 weeks I received a bill for 1358 for the MRI. After asking what I would pay if I just paid cash without insurance I am informed each MRI is 525 so the total would be 1050, but since insurance was already billed for it, it will be 1358 regardless if I pay in full after insurance filed or not. I get hitting deductibles, but since this is Christus health insurance at Christus hospitals, Im pretty sure they know how much insurance will cover and how much individuals will have to. I was then informed that since insurance was already filed for it the amount due would not be able to be changed (meaning I get to spend 1558 (ya know on top of the 500 dollars a month insurance) instead of the 1050 it would have been payed in full at the time of the visit) with the 200 dollar co pay. How can you honestly expect people to have insurance and want to use it if you will charge them 50% more in the long run?!? I will NOT be paying this absurdity. If you make it that i pay what I would have with cash since it will be paid in full anyways, I'd be more than happy to pay it. Either you need to inform people how much they will be liable for before the procedure, or make costs straight up up front. It will be the last time I ever go to the hospital and will be dropping this ridiculous "insurance" asap
