I purchased a vehicle from ******* **** in 2020. The loan I received from Exeter Finance was at an extremely high APR of *****%, which I believe to be predatory and unjustifiable given my credit history at the time. I am facing significant difficulty in making payments due to this high interest rate.I have attempted to reach Exeter Finance multiple times to discuss options for reducing my APR or obtaining more favorable terms, but I have not received a satisfactory response. The loan terms were not fully explained to me at the time of signing, and I was not informed about the potential impact of such a high APR.Request: I respectfully request an investigation into the fairness of the loan terms provided by Exeter Finance, especially the high interest rate. Additionally, I seek guidance on how to address this issue and whether there are options to modify my loan or reduce the APR. There are also random fees that do not have any explanation and I am being charged late fees when I am not late.

I am formally disputing the inaccurate and incorrect information that EXETER FINANCE LLC also known as EXETER FIN has furnished to consumer reporting agencies regarding my account. Your reporting of this account has caused severe harm to my reputation, financial standing, and overall ability to obtain credit for personal and household purposes. As such, you are in direct violation of federal ********* Violations Regarding Inaccurate Reporting Under 15 U.S. Code 1681s-2 - Responsibilities of Furnishers of Information to **************************** you are prohibited from reporting inaccurate information. By continuing to report this account inaccurately, you are knowingly violating the law and are subject to enforcement actions.*** Classification of Charge-Offs and Its Impact on Credit Reporting The *** explicitly classifies a charge-off as canceled debt, which is considered gross income for the borrower. According to *** Publication 4681:"A canceled debt must be reported as gross income, and the creditor is required to issue a Form 1099-C for any canceled debt over $600."Since a charge-off is legally classified as income, it is inaccurate and unlawful to continue reporting this account as an outstanding liability or unpaid debt on my credit report. This misclassification of a charge-off as a still-due debt constitutes false and misleading reporting, and as such, the account must be removed from my credit file immediately.Furthermore, your institution has likely collected:1. I financed a car through Exeter finance. Just over $9,000. I thought I was being taken care of. I am finding out that the interest rate that I am paying is illegal under usury law 28% interest. I called and asked if I could lower it because it was technically an outrageous and illegal rate. Exeter told me that they could charge up to 28% and that they didnt know anything about the legal limit of interest rates for car financing. I just want my interest rate down to the legal maximum at the very least. How can this be allowed to happen? Please help me. If Exeter does not lower I will need to file a suit and I would then be getting back all of the extra money I've paid because of the illegal rate. The amount being charged is twice the value of the car.

      Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:   Exeter Finance conspires with auto dealerships to inflate vehicle prices to cover a hidden finance charge, effectively passing on the discount fee charged to the dealer to the consumer. Here's a more detailed breakdown:
      Hidden Finance Charges:
Exeter Finance doesn't disclose the true cost of financing, including hidden fees. The cost of financing was disguised as an inflated vehicle price, effectively adding to the overall cost of the loan without the consumer's knowledge.  overall cost of the loan without the consumer's knowledge.
      Unlawful Repossession Practices:
The lawsuit alleges that Exeter Finance uses GPS tracking devices on vehicles to facilitate repossession, but this practice is not disclosed to consumers. The lawsuit claims this is an "unconscionable" invasion of privacy and a violation of state and federal laws.
