Let me just start by saying, that DH Home as a semi-custom builder is great for what any first time homeowner. That being said, here is my thought on my build.We started off the process in Summer of 2020, and our home was completed in September of 2022. Of course this was in the midst of the Pandemic, but we were not expecting to way two years for our home to be built. The main reason behind the delay, was the fact that DH Homes outsources most of the contract work that they do. The benefit of doing this is that they can save money on the home and make the purchase of a new home more affordable. The downside was that the contractors were either busy or cancelled due to other events.Another concern that we had was with the quality of work that each contractor was performing. Some contractors did phenomenal work, and some were subpar. We had many items that needed to be fixed at and after the walkthrough. I would advise that anyone going through DH Homes to hire a third party inspector. Our blue tape inspector that DH Homes provided did not do a great job of walking through, but I heard that they had made changes there.In the end, we understood the struggle that DH was going through due to the Pandemic. They did not back out of the contract like other builder did. They did not increase the cost of the home. Today our home is worth much more than we paid due to there ability to save money. We appreciated their communication, especially *****************, as he was there every step of the way with us. Our home was 70% custom and we enjoyed having the ability to choose what we wanted in our home. We would definitely recommend DH Homes for first time homeowners, assuming their contractors used are vetted better.
