In January of last year, I went to 10 minute oil change for well an oil change. However they told me I was in need of new spark plugs and ignition coils. Since I was there already, I figured go ahead. Why not. Normally Id go to Affordable Kar Kare, but I was already here. They replaced my coils and spark plugs. However just this last Wednesday I took my car to *** in town for engine trouble only ****** miles later. My mechanic told me my cylinder 1 ignition coil was defective and died much earlier than expected. However, my mechanic also noted that the person who put in my spark plugs torqued them 5-10lbs more than spec, which caused ALL 6 to crack early and would need replacing. To support this, he gave me both the spark plugs, and the coil and told me to go get my money back/have them reimburse me the warranty. When I confronted 10 minute oil change about the situation, and noted they had a sign in their business that says We offer a 2 year, ***** mile warranty I was told that the sign is not in the context of anything and doesnt apply insisted that it couldnt be them because they do good work, and that they wouldnt have lasted so long had it been their fault. They have the record of the replacement on file, that they would cover the parts and not the service, and proceeded to give me $40 because thats how much spark plugs cost for a ***** Camaro. He refused to even give me any re-imbursement for the defective part and just said thats weird that shouldnt do that, its never done that in any cars Ive worked on and trust me I have a Camaro too and this wouldnt happen When every resource Ive found says if you over torque spark plugs it will cause them to fail early but no matter what I said he wont give me more than $40 and was basically telling me that my main mechanic and I dont know what we are talking about. They were actively being deceiving and did not uphold their claimed warranty.
