Pattern of Complaints
On October 28, 2024, BBB notified Muukal Optical of concerns in consumer complaints regarding the company’s marketplace practices.
Specifically, BBB identified a pattern of complaints where consumers alleged:
- Incorrect Prescriptions: Many consumers reported receiving glasses with incorrect prescriptions, making them unusable.
- Refund and Exchange Issues: A significant number of complaints involved difficulties in obtaining refunds or exchanges. Consumers often mentioned that the company either refused to provide refunds or made the process extremely difficult, sometimes requiring the return of products to China at the consumer’s expense.
- Poor Customer Service: Numerous complaints highlighted poor customer service, including unresponsive support and confusing return instructions. Consumers expressed frustration with the lack of assistance and the unhelpful responses they received when trying to resolve their issues.
- Defective Products: Several consumers received defective products, such as glasses with incorrect lens measurements or frames that were not as advertised.
- Misleading Advertising: Some complaints mentioned that the company’s advertising was misleading, particularly regarding their guarantees and refund policies.
BBB requested the company’s voluntary cooperation in eliminating the identified pattern in consumer complaints by 1) providing a written response to the complaints and 2) outlining the steps the company will implement to avoid future complaints of the same or similar nature.
Furthermore, BBB was unable to verify via the Texas Secretary of State website that a business registration for Muukal Optical in Plano, TX is active or in existence and requested proof from the business. BBB also asked for clarification of their headquarters address and all operational addresses in the United States.
Muukal Optical was not responsive to the consumer complaints nor any of BBB’s inquiries regarding the pattern of complaints. The BBB investigation closed as ‘Failed to Respond’ on November 21, 2024.
