I have been a long standing customer of ******************** in ****** NY for at least 5 years purchased over $10,000 worth of merchandise recently the store has under went 4 different managers unsuccessful of keeping one. I tried to purchase a dining set and was told I would get a free week then pay $10 the first week and never received the item the new manager then persisted to cancel my item and state to another store manager that he cancelled my item and had no intentions of calling me back after I called and complained they wanted me to make a full payment when I didnt have the item even delivered, I began explaining the free week and $10 on the first week and they told me them two weeks past already even though I never had the items and they were still in their business on the floor. How do you get a free week and pay $10 for the first week for the item you never even received? The manager from the other store directed me to contact corporate and ask for the district manager to call me back I have done this twice and havent received any return calls. Rent a center has harassed me, blocked people in my residence from leaving and coming in and made threats in front of my child, peeled out of my driveway causing marks in the driveway and layed on the horn disturbing my neighbors. I have asked for my service to be transferred to the other location due to the unstable actions of that store and their employees and can not get my service transferred. My payments are defaulting and Id like to start paying on them but not through that store where they cant be trusted with even my credit card info. What are my options from here where do I go without getting further behind and continuing to be harassed?Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I only have two payments on this computer left and y'all started harassing me all over again after my last payment which is ridiculous. I am not someone your gonna profit off of by having me pay full price for something then sorry try and take it away from me two payments from me owning it. My online account has been blocked for the past 3 weeks stopping me from being able to make any payment and that's not right either. I am a good customer I may have been large s few times but it's paid none the less and payment has been made 4 times working the last month and still in getting harassed and threatened I'm going thru enough I do not deserve what y'all have been doing to me and this is not right. My two payments will be made and soon and then y'all don't have the right to continue this bag business practices y'all are involved in. Y'all are not supposed to do this to people.. We are supposed to pay once a month not ever two weeks and I'm harassed and threatened every week more than once. I've contacted customer support cooperate office 5 times now because of this.. No one has said anything to me about renewing anything that option was never offered to me I've simply been threatened with court and harassed even though I've made those 4 payments recently conveniently wen I'm down to my last 2 payments y'all try and take it away from me that's not ok or right.Business Response

I was previously employed by Rent A Center left on good terms put in 2 week notice and ultimately fell behind on some payment. When I reached out for help they were not willing to provide it and when I mentioned returning the merchandise they would go around my request I've texted the Racpad system multiple times and have spoken to the Delivery Specialist about pickup who all say the one deciding factor is the store manager ***** ******* refusing to pickup my merchandise because he wants me to charge off and be garnished. He has changed my email and phone number to not allow me access into my account and I've made a complaint directly to Rent A Center **************** with no resolve.Customer Answer

I PURCHASED A WASHER AND DRYER SET FROM RENT A CENTER IN 2019. I PAID THEM OFF IN 2022. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION I STILL HAD A WARRANTY BEINGS THEY CONTINUED TO WITHDRAWL THE WEEKLY PAYMENT FOR THE WARRARY UP UNTIL I HAD TO CALL IN JUNE OF 2024 BECAUSE MY DRYER WAS MESSED UP. I WAS INFORMED I DID NOT HAVE A WARRANTY. THEY AGREED TO PICK MY DRYER UP TO GET FIXED AND PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER DRYER TILL MINE WAS DONE. I MADE SEVERAL CALLS TO THE MANAGER ***** AT THE ************** LOCATION AND WAS TOLD SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS ABOUT MY DRYER. FAST FORWARD TO 04/22/25 NOW MY DRYER CAN NOT BE FIXED AFTER THEM HAVING IT ALMOST 1 YEAR AND I AM SUPPOSE TO JUST BE SASTIFIED WITH THE LOANER DRYER THEY PROVIDED ME. THIS IS NOT A RESOLUTION FOR ME. NOT ONLY DID THEY TAKE MONEY ILLEGALLY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT FOR OVER 2 YEARS FOR A WARRANTY THAT WAS NOT ACTIVE BUT NOW I AM OUT MY DRYER THAT I PAID FOR AND BELONGS TO ME.Business Response

I have a lease/agreement with rentacenter (***********) that I have had several issues with in the past. My current issue is a simple request to keep my account active and allow me to make my payment late by May 2nd, 2025. I was advised by the store manager ***** that if I'm unable to make my payment by Friday, April 25th, my account will be closed and I will be asked to return the Xbox I have leased without much recourse past this. I have paid at minimum $1,667.84 on the item in question, which at current pricing of the retail value of a Xbox Series X, is nearly 4 times the product value. I have been late several occasions due to difficulty with my employer, but have always made right on any extensions given and have always made the payment when given an extension. I've never once missed a payment when given an extension and have always paid on time prior to the financial hardship I've been experiencing over the last several months. The practice of taking thousands of dollars from a customer and then threatening to close their account due to being just two weeks late on a payment is not a standard practice among most of not all rental institutes. I advised I would make a complete payment on May 2nd, both covering the past due amount and the amount due at that point as well which was declined. I have 6 total payments remaining out of 38, the fact my account can be closed without willing to work with what I have the financial capability of doing is unfair. I'm simply asking for one more week to receive my full paycheck from my employer, but because it affects the metrics and bonus of a store vs the livelihood of an individual taken into account shows me that I cannot trust this company in the future. I'm not asking for a miracle, and I'm not asking for a month, I'm asking for one more week extension to make my payment and if I don't fulfill this promise, I will return the product as requested. I'd like to see this resolved prior to April 25th.Business Response

Rent-A-Center has reviewed this complaint and denies any allegations of harassing Ms. ***** Furthermore, Rent-A-Center determined Ms. ****** primary concern is regarding certain contractual obligations stated in the Agreement, which theyve failed to comply with.
Ms. **** entered into a written contract in the form of a rental-purchase agreement that contained all disclosures mandated by applicable state law. I rented a table set from Rent-A-Center and had made 53 out of 75 payments. While I was late on recent payments, I have fully paid off previous merchandise and was working toward completing this one. However, during the process of them attempting to retrieve the table set, one of their employees behaved in an aggressive and unprofessional mannerbanging on my door, parking outside my home, honking, and calling me multiple times a day. This level of harassment was excessive and uncalled for.I called the store to complain about the employees conduct and informed them they could come pick up the merchandise. They retrieved it, but are now claiming the table was damaged. Despite asking for clarification and an amount, they have not provided a clear explanation or cost. I feel Ive already paid more than twice the tables value, and their ongoing contact and vague claims feel personal and ************** filing this complaint because I believe I was treated unfairly, especially given my payment history. I would like this issue to be resolved professionally, with transparency regarding any alleged damage, and for the harassment to stop immediately. If the harassment continues, I will be forced to seek legal representation.Business Response

On 4/16/2025 ****** ********* sent out multiple text messages to past due customers with my personal phone number attached for return calls/texts which led to my personal phone number being leaked to Ive ******************************************** all day on 4/17/2025 while I was at work. I had to leave my job early for the day to spend my time on the phone with customer support to try to resolve this issue or talk to someone that would help me resolve this issue. I contacted the Riverton store and spoke with the Store manager Dakota ******** and told him to fix it or at least apologize but did not hear from anyone from this organization until I filed a corporate complaint. I am still being harassed by upset customers and specifically requested to not be contacted by the District manager, **** *******, since I have been told by multiple of his employees that he has been talking ill of me since I left this organization back in December. **** then attempted to contact me even though my corporate complaint specifically stated I did not want to speak to him and wanted to speak to his manager after his extremely unprofessional behavior and his willingness to try to make the issue disappear since he is personal drinking buddies with the two employees that leaked my information. I want to speak to the regional director to discuss all of the inappropriate behavior being conducting by **** ******* like my original complaint stated.Business Response
