My daughter recently had a closing that was handled by Tarry title company. The closing was on her family home that as part of her divorce was to be sold and the equity to be split between her and her children's father. She had a court order written by attorneys, signed by Judge *****, agreed upon and signed by each party of how the split of money was to be dispersed between her and him. On the day of the closing apparently he did not interpret the legal order as it was plainly written so he was allowed to hold up the disposition of funds for 5 days. his father sells real estate in ***** and I would assume has a very clear understanding of these types of situations, as I have talked with other real estate and people in other title companies as how this is handled, it leads me to believe maybe Tarry title was not handling this particular situation very professionally.

Hi *********, thank you for reaching out with this concern. Title companies must act as a neutral third party in all transactions. In this particular circumstance, we received the court order and agreed with your daughters interpretation; however, when her ex-spouse came to the closing, he did not want to sign until he spoke with his attorney. Because this was his legal right, we, as a neutral third party, had to stop the closing process and wait until he had the opportunity to do so. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope this helps to answer your concern.
