We had Mr. ***** vehicle which is a 2004 **** F150 pickup towed to the shop on 8-19-2024 after doing a mobile call it was determined that the fuel pump was out. The customer didn't agree to do the work until 8-21-2024 around 5pm when we agreed on a price which was a total of $850.00 parts, labor, and tow to replace the fuel pump. We tried to get the part first thing in the morning on 8-22-2024 but could not get it until the following day which was on 8-23-2024. We started the work on 8-22-2024 to prepare for getting the part the next day which was 8-23-2024. We had to do extra work in getting the old part out due to the poor work previously done on the vehicle. We finished the work, and test drove it several times to ensure the work was done properly. Mr. **** came on the 23rd to pick up his vehicle and drove it to his house. The following morning on 8/24/2024 at 5am he started to call over and over when we don't open until 8am. When we got to the shop Mrs. **** started calling and started yelling immediately upon answering. We tried to give her some time to cool down. When she called back after a couple hours later, she again started yelling and cursing at the owner asking for her money back and left messages using profanity and racial slurs towards us. I told her we could tow it back to the shop of where the truck was at so we could take another look at it, but she was so angry and refused to give us the address of where the truck was located. She said meet her where we picked up the truck with all the money. I stated to her that I could not give her the money back until I checked to see if it was something that we did. She refused to let us check the vehicle. This is an older vehicle that had several other issues upon arrival. We would have had no problem with fixing any issues with work we did. But due to Mrs. ***** aggression and racial slurs we did not want to escalate the problems any further.Initial Complaint

On December 20th I texted Al asking for a quote on a clutch replacement and oil pan gasket replacement including parts. He quoted $350. Monday the 26th I texted asking if he could install some $10 spacers to increase my ride height, as well as check out my axle for a noise. He agreed on both. The same day in person, after dropping off the car, he recommended that I let him replace my suspension back to stock. I didnt want to do that and kept asking him to do the cheap way, but he insisted his way was better. No quote for the axle checkup or stock suspension job. Thursday the 29th he texted that the job was done. I asked if he did the clutch and oil pan gasket, and asked what was the problem with the axle. He said that the oil leak was coming from my main seal, not the oil pan, and said that the increased ride height fixed the axle noise. He then asked for $840. He did not address my clutch. When I arrived, I asked again if he replaced my clutch, to which he responded that I never asked for that. In fact I mentioned the clutch twice by text before taking the car to him, as it was the initial and most important reason that I took the car to his shop in the first place. Additionally, had he replaced the clutch, he wouldve also needed to replace the main seal, which would have fixed my oil leak as well, the other big reason I took my car to him. I pointed out the my car was too low in back, he said its weight in the trunk. I paid and drove out of the lot, only to immediately hear the same noise from the axle. I went back inside and had him listen, he told me to come back the next day for a free axle. At home I noticed he left the old springs in rear, thus the awkward stance. The next day I arrived at 6pm the time instructed by ** and he was not there. I texted him, and he said he had just ordered the part and to come back Monday. I told him to cancel the order and that I needed to talk to him in person. In person, he screamed to get out or get ****** up.Business Response

***** bought his car sometime between the 25th and 26th of December 2022. I talked to ***** about checking it out and seeing what the problems were, to address any concerns he had. Over text before he brought it, he mentioned the clutch and oil pan. I quoted $350 because I misread the text. I speak 5 languages and English is not my first language. I am not a good English reader and I admit that. I did not realize what he was asking for until after he paid and brought it up. When he originally came in and dropped his car off he did not mention the clutch, but he did mention the noise he heard and that he had a slight oil leak, along with his car being slightly too low. I said I will look and let you know. After looking at his car, his leak was not coming from the oil pan but rather the main seal, his axel did not appear to be bad, I did notice however his shocks/struts were not in the best condition, and they were not put in completely correctly. There were many other problems with his car, but they were not immediate problems and he never mentioned wanting them fixed. Most of his cars had cheaper quality aftermarket parts and the shocks were one of those products. Looking at the front shocks from under the hood you could see that they were not aligned and completely off centered of their brackets. He had his car lowered, almost to the point of his wheel touching the body, with no additions to address the hitting or scraping. All that combined can lead to some problems. ***** also had several hundred pounds of tools in the trunk of his small ***** Civic, which definitely weighed it down, even after I changed the shocks and struts. During the whole process of working on his car I continuously sent updated photos of the project and her never mentioned any concerns and said everything looked and sounded good, so I proceeded to work on his car. After installing the shocks/struts the car was still lower in the back than it was in the front due to his aftermarket lowering coils and several hundred pounds in the trunk. To help that concern I placed bushing/spacers on both sides of the rear shocks, as we did not agree to change out the lowering coils in person. I could have changed them but that would have been more money he would have to put into it. The difference in height between the front and the rear would not cause problems and was/is not dangerous. After I completed his car, I texted him it was all done and ready to be picked up. Over text before he picked up his car I quoted him $840 for all the shocks and strut. Parts and labor. He agreed and said he was going to pick it up. He seemed like a good kid and was young, so I decided to do the work rather inexpensively to help him out. I made little to no money on his car, as I put quality products into that were not cheap or aftermarket. The list price of all the products that were put into his car came up to a total of $1,152.14. All products were purchased at AutoZone, and I have all the product numbers for ***** or anybody to look up if curious. Part #FH54121918-1601-coil surebilt Rubr coil spring Booster-sku-*********, I bought two packs. Part #*********- Loaded strut misc OSB- sku-********* I bought two. Part# ******- Gas shock R KYB shock/strut- SKU-*********, I bought two. The number for the AutoZone location that I used is ************. My prices run differently as I have a business account with AutoZone that has been active for 20+ years. ***** came to pick-up the car and pay me $840. We went over everything we changed, and he seemed happy with it, ***** then went to back out after he paid and started to leave. Less than 2 minutes he comes back inside asking me to see if I hear what he hears in regard to the thudding that he thought was occurring because of the axle. We were talking and he started to catch an attitude, so we got into an argument and I told him to leave. We began conversing in text and i explained to him that there was a misunderstanding in text before he brought his car and i have never met someone who will do a clutch, oil pan gasket, and axle for $350. In addition to all four shocks/struts. He had no interest in conversing in a professional manner and I did not want to continue arguing. Later on I called him and said I would install a free axle for him, parts and labor free. I don't like hostility and wanted to resolve an issue to keep on good terms with *****, the customer. I understand that there was a misunderstanding in regard to texting and my English reading abilities so once again I wanted to help him out. He agreed to the free axle and I said he could come the following day. I ordered the part, which would arrive on Monday, two days later than what we had thought as it was a specialty part. I forgot to call him and let him know that it would be arriving on Monday and not the next day because it had to be ordered. He texted me saying he was at my shop around 6:30pm the day after I told him would install the free axle. I replied to him back stating I was not currently at the shop and that his axle would arrive on Monday. I thought he would understand because the shock/****** also took two days to arrive as they did not show up until December 28th. At that time, I was delivering a customer's car to their house with my daughter, that is why I was not at the shop. I apologized and told him to bring the car on Monday as that was when the parts will be here. He told me to cancel the order and said he wanted to talk to me in person. I said if i cancel the order that is that and i will not be reordering it. We continued to text and he caught an attitude. He had no interest in listening or ultimately resolving the situation at hand in a professional manner. So I sent a final text essentially saying I don't think it would be best if I continue to work on your car, have another shop look at your car's other existing problems, and to have a good night, I apologize. he replied saying he doesn't want me to work on his car anyways. A couple days later he showed up at my shop once again not wanting to converse like adults, I tried to help out several times and he said he doesn't care. I did not want to feed fire into an argument so I told him to leave. He would not leave so I yelled at him to get out. As he was walking out, he said, "I am going to call the cops" I said "go ahead". Not long after the cops arrive and talk to him then talk to me, the cops said to me that ***** is claiming i tried to hit him and threatened him, I told the cop no, that is not true and told them i have proof. My entire shop has cameras on the inside and outside. I proceeded to show the cops the cameras and explained the situation of ******* car, along with the receipts of parts. I also showed the cops texts stating that he was not welcomed back. The cop agreed with me and saw that what ***** told them was not true. The cops went back outside to ***** and told him not to come back otherwise he would be trespassing and would go to jail. The cops, *****, and I parted ways after that. I have two witnesses that were both present at both incidents that happened with *****, along with video evidence and text messages. I tried to resolve any issues. But ***** kept coming up with more, unfortunately.
