We moved into Hillrise Apartments on October 1st. There was a preexisting smell in the closet that the previous tenants had attempted to get fixed. The smell got significantly worse when we moved in and made the closet unusable. I noticed the carpet was damp in the closet and there was a drain in the laundry area that was full of water but did not drain. On October 5th we than noticed the wall of the laundry area, the bedroom that shares a wall with the laundry area and said closet that also shares a wall with the laundry area were leaking liquid and making the carpets wet. We sent pictures to the apartment manager, Nicole, tried to call her multiple times and knocked on her door for an hour. We didn't get a response from either form of communication. After calling the cops to perform an unsuccessful wellness check on the apartment manager we noticed the wall in the closet was damp and when we applied pressure to it the wall crumbled and fell apart. We lifted the carpet in the closet and saw that the carpet pad underneath was covered in black mold. We did the same thing on the laundry area and a hole formed. We were finally able to get in contact with a maintenance man to look at the issue and he said "there's a move the 50% we move you to a nicer unit" we have not heard any further communication from anyone at the apartments. Nicole never answered our texts, called or came to the door. We had to evacuate the apartment on October 5th for our health and safety and want out first month's rent back and the lease broken. We have not been able to reach anyone at the apartment to facilitate this and are at a complete loss of what to do next. We have a city inspector coming on October 12th.

I recently fulfilled my contract with HillRise Apartments back in February (my last month). I gave my final notice to HillRise back on February 28th that this would be my last month renting from them. I was on a month to month contract meaning I was good to go as long as I gave them notice prior to the beginning of the month. Well fast forward 45 days later and I still have yet to receive my deposit back from them or any explanation as to why I haven't received my deposit back. I have tried reaching out to the onsite manager and see got me in touch with management company via email and I only got one email from them asking for a forwarding address. Then radio silence after that. I tried calling the onsite manager and she basically said its not my problem.

I have lived in Hillrise Apartments for about 3 years, beginning in 2019, and it continues to go downhill. When I first signed my lease, I thought it was too good to be true. Brand new buildings, no prior owners, parking stalls to be provided within 6 months, a working pool, and a well-maintained area. Aubrey was the manager at the time and was very kind throughout the whole process. About 2 months later, she was gone. Christa became the new manager and was not pleasant at all. When renewing my lease for the 1st time, she was very nosy when going through my apartment.. opening closet doors, looking into my shower.. things that did not need to be inspected but I am not a building manager, so maybe it is.. who knows. But it was almost like she was trying to find something wrong. Regardless, we signed the lease, and spoke with her about the parking stalls (because they had not been started yet) and also mentioned that the pool was green and black and was looking awful. We like to have people visit us regularly, especially family. And it sticks out like a sore thumb to see water that is so disgustung. She said that she would have the engineer look at the pool and have it fixed ASAP, as she recognized that it is our only amenity. The pool was drained that next day and has not been filled since. I know that they have not hired someone to fix it since it has no water and is filled with dirst and filth. The parking stalls were installed about 4 months ago (now being 2022) and Christa is no longer the manager, we now have Jordan. They made the spots so awkwardly shaped that its very difficult for most cars to park underneath them. My stall is not even near my apartment. It is more convenient for me to park on the side of my building than it is to park in my assigned stall. Winters here are tough; we salt our own walkways and a neighbor of mine from the building next to me shovels the walk for everyone. Our cars are parked on ice because Hillrise will not hire a plow
