We met with Ismerio Builders (aka Ismerio Drywall) for new home construction. When we met to discuss the construction of the home, the price they quoted per square foot was not to exceed $140/sq foot. $40 was quoted as a finished square foot price for completing the basement. This amounted to $486,784 on August 4, 2023: They stated "The price can go down even more". This was a bid for a home with ***** on the main floor and ***** in the basement.From these calculations and statements that the home may even be built for less according to their email, we had them proceed with completing drafting the plans for even a smaller house, nearly **** square feet less on the main floor at **** square feet. Their final estimate was not even close to what they told us they could build the house for. Their final bid to construct the house was $598,491. That was more than $100,000 more for a smaller house with no upgrades, than the bigger house and amounted to $262.21/ square foot for the main home at $513,925 and $43.15 for finishing the basement at $84,566. Only the basement was within reason of their original bid. Their bid to construct the main house was nearly double the original estimate. From $140/sq ft to $262.21/square foot on the main floor, which represents more than $100,000 for a smaller house with no upgrades?We feel this is a great deception on their part as an inducement to order plans and commit to work with them so that later they could present a bid exorbitantly and unreasonably higher than originally estimated. I know of no other contractor who would provide an initial estimate that would later be nearly double the cost of the initial bid.Now they want to charge us $4,500 for drafting the plans for a house they cannot build within reason of their original bid. In my opinion, this constitutes not only deceptive business practice, but fraud.
