1 starWe had a negative experience with this company. Thank God we've dodged the bullet in having our loan transferred from them to a new servicer. In alignment with all the other negative comments echo how ridiculous it is that they want to charge additional fees for trying to make timely payments. Please stop choosing them for customers!Review fromKimberly G

1 starSelect Portfolio Services is the most predatory and disorganized company Ive ever had the displeasure to work with.I inherited my home after my parents died and the transition to become the Successor of the account to months of sending them the same forms over and over again. My loan was originally through ******* but was sold off to ***. So a year after being sold off to *** I paid off my mortgage and all that was left was the forbearance amount. They refused to accept any payments on the forbearance and threatened foreclosure if I did not pay in a lump sum. They gave me the option to apply for assumption and modification of the loan and 90 days to turn in all requested forms and documents. I turned in around 400 pages of documents that I faxed, uploaded, and emailed straight to my relationship manager. I would call every week sometimes daily to check on my application status. I only had one response from my relationship manager who told me what forms she needed to submit my application. For the next three months I would call or check my account to see what documentation she claimed to have not received. I would speak with another representative who would find said documentation and submit them to my file. I will as smart enough to realize from the beginning that they were running out the clock of time I had to pay or foreclose and started searching for a loan elsewhere. It became a matter of principle to get all of my information turned in and stop the ticking clock towards foreclosure. I even faxed them 140 pages two times so she could not say she didnt receive them, and she still did. My relationship manager would either not receive the documents, they were blurred, or not in the complete application that I turned in over 15 times! The dates to turn in my documents changed continued to change always getting shorter. I finally have a loan with a local **************** and I am overjoyed to no longer have my Mortgage with this dishonest company. Do not trustReview fromRonald K

1 starMy girlfriend tried to register her account and was having a problem. She called and was told her Social Security was no in the system as of yet. The transfer may not be complete as of yet. She would need to send a copy a copy of her Social Security card in order to access her account on-line. She should not have to send and will not send a copy a copy of her Social Security card. This information should already be in the system.Review fromJarrad H

1 starThis company does a lot as it is an investment brokerage who buys debts. One of the things they've branched into, since the banking laws were rolled back, is servicing - and I use that term loosely - mortgages. This company assumed my mortgage 4 months ago. They immediately sent me a bill, with the principal increased by several thousands of dollars. No one should ever be able to increase that origination number. It is fixed. They could not tell me why this happened, promised to fic it, then sent me a new statement with an added 20 bucks. There was no service fee associated. If they do this to every person, they make billions. I closed my escrow to pay off the loan, and I had a balance of ******** I was to receive back. They sent half of it to my insurance - who had been pre paid for the year, and could not tell me where the escrowed property tax money went. While the customer service people are nice, the answer for everything I asked was "we do not have access to that information," though they could tell what was showing was incorrect. This company will no doubt go down in a class action lawsuit once their share holders strip mine every customer of as much extra money as they can. America deserves a better system. If you have a choice, do NOT use SPS.Review fromAshley R

1 starDO NOT....I ***eat DO NOT use this business. Their customer service is ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS!!!!!! My mom passed in 2021 and to this day they will not make me an authorized user on her account. I've sent them every document known to man to prove that I am her only child and sole heir to the property. EVERY customer service *** that I have spoken with tells me "they need her signature" or " you have to get her signature" or "she has to make you a user" even after I tell them she is deceased so that is impossible. Then after I tell them she is dead, they still tell me to get her signature. Crazy thing is....they won't make me a user on the account, but accept a check every month with my name on it. I hate speaking with them. I hate dealing with them. I've sought out legal assistance because this is ridiculous. From personal experience......DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!!!!!Review fromDavid R

1 starThis company bought are mortgage from *********** and from the first day they have been an issue. They want us to sign up for for automatic withdrawal from are bank and because we choose not to they are delaying cashing are checks every month so we started sending certified mail to track and prove the check was sent out every certified check was cashed on time but the last one we did not sent it out on the 7th of may and its due on the 15th. Check is still not cashed on the 27th so a lat fee is charged. On top of that we have called them many times to put my wife on the call list and it wont except her number so she can make a.payment. They are trying to strong hand people into doing what they want and i did not get my mortgage from them i got it from chace. In my opinion this company is no more than a loan shark.Review fromIrasema M

1 starOne star is the minimum the system allows. However, 1 star is too much rating for this company. Since the loan was sold to this company, my nightmare began. I set up the automatic payment, as I always do, and without modifying anything (not the automatic payments or the bank account), they stopped withdrawing the money from the bank account. I have attempted to send it 3 times payments (for over 6000), and even when the system posted it as "processed," the money is still in my bank account. I have made two conference calls between the *** (lender) and a *** from my bank account, having recorded the whole conversations; they said the payments have been through, and the bank *** asking how the payment went through if these accounts have not had any movement in or out, and I am receiving letters of the default payment and collecting agencies. I set up bill payments from the back to the *** to "force" them to receive the payments. What else can I do with a lender that does not want to take the money I am sending?Review fromian Z

1 starDO Not use this bank. I had no choice because they bought my loan from another bank. I have had nothing but terrible experiences with them. They did not honor my automatic payment or the insurance I had in place. They charged me an additional fee for insurance. I reinstated the loan, put *** back in place. A few weeks later I got a call saying I needed to make a payment because I was behind. So the *** was not updated and the instatement money I sent didn't reflect on their system. They tried to double charge me for the month of May.Review fromAndrew T

1 starNo stars. By far the worst experience Ive ever had with a lender. Completely inept with no care for their clients at all. My loan was transferred to *** as I already knew of their reputation prior to borrowing and would have never purposefully tried to borrow from them directly. My home was destroyed by the three hurricanes that hit ******* in September of 2025. Since then I have been applying for mortgage assistance with sps. The process is nothing more than them dragging me along asking for additional information that I have already provided repeatedly and then waiting for that documentation to go stale and asking for it again. All the while allowing me to fall further and further into debt. This lender does not care about you as a client. They want you to go away. I had an 800 credit score before these storms. Its now 600 and there is no end in sight as sps continues to tell me that I have provided all that is needed only to ask for something they already have days later. The only saving ***** is that I am inline to be transferred to another lender again as of may 1. That day cannot come soon enough as I will gladly start this process again with someone else rather than continue on what is now a 7 month process in asking for mortgage assistance.Review fromL T

1 starThis company doesnt understand how to process a property already in a trust when the main trustee passes away. Going on 6 months of dealing with them and every time they ask for something different, ex. Deed from the county (which they should already have access to, being a mortgage company), list of guarantors (which wouldnt apply with a trust), complete will (which lists monetary items, not real property and is none of their business). Says theyve been in business since *********************************************** a trust theyve ever had to deal with. Tried asking to speak with the people rejecting these documents, and the representative said those people dont talk to the public. Im only trying to have them waive the late fees they charged due to the death of the owner which by federal law shouldnt even be charged. Sounds like they shouldnt be in business anymore, very unprofessional and unintelligent feels like there are teenagers running the place.
