We were not given the Right to Know before our transaction with this company. My brother applied to ******************** Schools, San Juan, CA for Fall 2021 via a third consulting company in China. As international students, we need to pay deposits and document fees to the school. On 04/20/2021, we paid $4500 for the document fee and $6000 for the deposit to this company. (We were told the $4500 is document fee and non-refundabl) No one mentioned to us that our fees were going to this company instead of the school directly. We were not given any information about this company ahead of time and any services they will provide. Until we were planning to pay for the rest of the fees to the school, they provided us a portal to ask us to sign a contract and pay the rest of the fee there. While on the portal, I read through the contract carefully and I first realized that we were paying fees to a third company that we never heard about. On this contract, we need to pay $33500 to this company for the so-called consulting services. This definitly a scam. So I decided to stop the rest of the transactions. We talked with this company, but they refused to refund the full money we paid. They insist to deduct $1500 for a service fee which they couldn't list out. Since we didn't make this agreement on the deduction, they still didn't refund any money back to us. It's been 9 months, our money is still stuck in this company. To summarize: 1. We were not given any information about making transactions with this company. We didn't get the Right to Know. 2. We didn't sign any contract with them, we didn't use any services they provided. Why they couldn't refund us the full amount of money we paid. We sincerely hope they could refund us the full $6000 deposit ASAP. This company is a subsidiary company of a Chinese company, which makes this situation a little bit complicated. But our transaction is direct with this company.
