1 starAn Embarrassment Disguised as Fraud Protection A Capital One Catastrophe... I dont often write reviews, but Capital One has earned this one and not in a good ****** Capital One card was flagged for suspicious activity at a location I visit regularly not once, but twice in the same evening. I spoke with a fraud specialist, resolved it (so I thought), and continued my night, only to be flagged again mid-dinner, surrounded by guests. What followed was nothing short of humiliating. I was asked to provide documentation, proof, explanations, as though I were trying to justify my existence. Meanwhile, my bill sat unpaid. My guests whom I was hosting had to step in and cover it. Do you have any idea how mortifying that is?And then like clockwork my wife had the exact same experience. Same purchase. Same monthly timing. Same fraud alert.Capital One, if your fraud detection is so erratic that loyal, long-standing customers are being publicly embarrassed while trying to pay for dinner then its not fraud protection. Its incompetence wrapped in corporate arrogance. If you value your dignity, reliability, or basic peace of mind, look elsewhere. This card is not worth the risk of being left stranded at the table.Review fromElijah J

1 starIve been trying to build my credit for the past 5 years. I obtained a pre paid credit card called the capital one platinum card. I have it for over 2 years. I put the $200 on the card spent it and paid it off almost every month for a few years straight. Not once did this company offer an upgrade nor did my credit score go up at all . Infact I believe it went down . Then I just stopped using the card after I spent the rest of my money I had on the card and called the business office to tell them I'm no longer willing to continue with this scam they have going on and now they claim I owe them money ? How does that work? ? Basically I loaned them $200.00. To add to their company card I used it paid it off for a few years straight nothing happened so I took the money back that is rightfully mine. And dispose of the card . So you tell me who is in the wrong? Some company that does not follow through with what they advertise or some person stupid enough to think these jackwagons are actually going to help you? No, I believe it's because they discriminate against me due to a bunch of illegal convictions the state of ****** has against me yet no one is will to investigate anyone working within the states district attorneys office as they have been violating federal requirements by not having an internal affairs department. . Meaning when the district attorneys utilize false police reports they are committing a crime under ORS ******* furthermore it turns into white collar crime and crimes against humanity as they get paid to do what they do by targeting ********** citizens.Review fromWilliam M

1 starI recently upgraded from a Platinum to a Quicksilver card and noticed a $200 reward for spending $500 within the first three (3) months. After spending $500 within a few weeks, I have not received the $200 bonus. As a disclaimer the website clearly states the following:1 This one-time bonus is available by clicking the "Apply Now" button on this page, and may not be available if you navigate away from or close this page. Existing or previous cardmembers are not eligible for this product if they have received a new cardmember bonus for this product in the past ******************************************************************************************************* the past 48 months (I haven't even had an account with ******************** for that long), nor did I navigate away from the page referenced in the disclaimer. I attempted to sort out the issue with a customer service representative in their ***************** I was told that since I was already a cardmember, I was not eligible for this $200 bonus. I referenced the exact nomenclature in the disclaimer ("Existing or previous cardmembers are not eligible for this product if they have received a new cardmember bonus for this product in the past 48 months.") and the representative simply repeated that I was not eligible due to being an existing cardmember.Confusing? The way I see it, I'm either eligible, or I'm not... but the disclaimer is misleading at best. While $200 won't buy much more than a week's worth of groceries, it will influence my decision to use their services in the future.Review fromThomas M

1 starI have a capital one secured card. I have never missed a payment and I have a zero balance. They sent me a preapproved offer for an unsecured credit card. I filled out the application and the company said I had frozen all of my credit bureau reports. I unfroze all of my credit bureau reports, and I went back and pushed the button that I had cleared them. They declined me stating that they were still frozen. The next morning, all of my credit reports were hit and I lost two and three points on my credit score which Ive been trying to build. I contacted capital one and they told me that they cannot do anything, even though I explained to them that they had my credit reports. They said I have to fill out another application and take another hit to my credit. This was a mistake on their part, not mine. This is ridiculous. This company should not even be in business. Theyre in the business of taking peoples money. I would highly advise to stay away from this company. Especially if youre trying to keep your credit score intact. Again, very shady business practices. ******************. Stay away from them.Review fromSteve D

1 starI have been a long time Capital One User. I earn cash rewards and have had over $2000 owed to me since February of this year. It is now April and I am still waiting for my payment.I have had multiple phone calls over the past couple of months. It should be a simple process. When confirmed the check was not cashed, it should have been canceled and reissued. It took another 2 calls and have still not received the money. I reached out to the CEO a couple of times and have not heard back. Poor communication and problem solving skills.
