My husband and I have been paying genworth for the past twenty years. Each year the rates go up and we continue to pay. This year my husband contracted a virus that left him unable to walk, stand or use his hands. We have two aides taking care of him. I was told I had no waiting period for reimbursement. It is going on eight weeks and they havent paid me. Every time I call thy tell me it takes 20 days. They keep stalling and I am running out of money. Reading the other complaints it seems to be the way they operatGenworth Long Term Care Insurance

1 starWe were covered with long-term care, however, the rates kept increasing. When we opted out of the long-term care plan and settlement pursuant to the ***** et al. v Genworth Life Insurance Company et al. case, we have been stalled. In fact, the request for option #2 and refund has been delayed with excuses such as "glitch in system," and "error in system." The delays went into March, and Genworth used the auto deduction from our joint account to pay the premimum (even after we requested them to stop because me and my wife opted out of the plan). Now, we are trying to get the auto deducted amount and the option #2 under the ***** settlement; however, no luck. After 60 days and several representatives and two managers, we have been unsuccessful. The next steps are filing a compliant with the Insurance Commission, and the BBB as well as going to our congress representative and the media. There is a journalist interested in Genworth practices because so many seniors are being treated unfairly and unprofessionally. Here is our complaint.Review fromJohn D

1 starGenworth has consistently played cat and mouse with open claim reimbursements..hit and miss.we opened a claim for Mom after hip fracture Sept 2021..Even after these Charletons used their company size and lobby power to win a lawsuit allowing them to drastically reduce LTC lifetime policy dollars after customers paid premiums for the original higher policy maximums and doubled premiums(gangster tactics approved by courts and back room dealing with politicians)..these people have consistently made life hard.its a gameI called and complained April 2022then they got back monies paid.bottomlinethe egregious behavior slowly ensued again whereby Genworth was under reimbursing on a regular basis.very time consuming and confusing and misleading on purpose..malignant My mothers high jacked lower policy lifetime benefit should one been exhausted months ago.somehow, theres almost $30k still unused with the Genworth shell game they play with the money..they are a huge company.I wont stop fighting until we get what we are owed..you shouldnt either..they well understand that family with long term caregiving of a sick lowed one lose sight of many details, get disorganized and suffer for loving and helping a sick family memberGenworth LTC preys on this nightmareThey probably had an Actuarial study to determine this scenario,,,how easy it can be to underpay claims and the percentage of customers(their POAs)that are too drenched in caregiving for a claimant over time to fight their entitled, paid for via lobby dollarstyranny..makes me sick and puts stress and financial burden on long time premium paying customersKEEP FIGHTING MONEY REIMBURSEMENT!Review fromKimberly G

1 starWorst company ever! DO NOT buy this insurance. DO NOT trust this company. My father is diagnosed with Alzheimer's and requires constant supervision for his safety and meets the requirement of "requiring substantial supervision to protect oneself from threats to health and safety due to severe cognitive impairment." Genworth has denied all claims. None of the claims has been reviewed by anyone with any medical background. They took $775,000 of my parents money. My parents paid in over 20 years. We are now paying out of pocket for car. Genworth will now be $775,000 richer. No wonder they have been in business for 125 years. They paid $3000 one time toward my mother's care before she died then asked for the money back because they "miscalculated" the elimination period.Take your money and invest it in stocks and bonds. Do not waste your money, time or energy on this company.I have written to the president of the company, twice, with no response. Shameful for a company that supposedly cares for a highly vulnerable polulation.Current Claim A838348Review fromHal S

1 starAwful company. Paid LTC premiums for 10+ years and then they basically cancel my policy. Somehow a class action suit led to my wife and I having to take a significant cut in benefits. The options they provided to us to modify our policy were completely one-sided. I was already having buyer's remorse due to the large premium increases they kept putting through over the years. Now with this cancellation/modification, I am so disturbed that a company can operate like this. I feel completely let down and mislead by Genworth and will only say terrible things about them to anyone that will listen.Review fromDouglas M

1 starThey were happy to take the money. I was late on a payment (my fault) and there was a grace ******* It is not possible to pay on line. The only number to call is foreign. I mailed the checks 2-3 weeks prior to the grace ******* They cancelled the policies. Not happy. Very nice folks on the other side of the world trying to do their best, but Genworth has isolated themselves from their customers. I would not recommend working with this company. Very second rate.Review fromDaniel L

1 starGenworth has stopped re-reimbursing my elderly mom's payments after 3 months without any explanation. I have called them several times but customer reps are not helpful. They do not tell me if they need more documentation or what is the problem. This is unacceptable. I think Genworth is hoping customers give up getting re-reimbursed. BUYER BEWARE. I would not recommend individuals in purchasing a LTC policy with Genworth. They will happily take your premium for 25+ years but disappear when you finally need to use the policy.Review fromJULIA K

1 starI have a policy with Genworth I have been paying for about 30 years. The post office forwarded my statements to a different address and I did not receive the statement. They cancelled my policy because of non payment no emails send to me only mail. I requested to reinstate my policy they denied me because I gained weight and have high blood pressure. They are changing the rules after 30 years?? Do you know that ************** changes and they are still paying for there policies without the company updating there health records so if ****************** changes they will cancel everybody's policy's this is a rip off. I will be getting a lawyer for this. I do not recommend this Company at all.Review fromSandra H

1 starGenworth LTC insurance was purchased by my parents 20 + years ago. So they wouldnt be a burden.Paid their premiums each year. Due to no fault of Genworth my dad insisted he could care for mom. We talked him into maybe 10 hrs a week in home care. Mom passed away, leaving *******. Unused. Genworth pocketed that.Dad came to live w us for 2 years we couldnt qualify for help, until 3/23 dementia, a broken hip. Filed a claim, had to repeatedly resend documentation. Jump through hoops, he had ******. ( he changed terms of policy) he went to rehab for 2 months, then to board and care, which were all approved by Genworth, said had to pay out of pocket for 3 months, sending invoices from board & care, payments were to come soon, never received, then my poor dad passed away August 18,2023. I called they said no payment is due! Condolences ??This is the worst company I have ever dealt with!! To top it off they breached my fathers info!!!! I was told well you have to call Equafax!! They need to stop destroying lives, not to mention the financial struggle as I am only child left, to pay $6000. A month for board and care!!I hope they arent allowed to con people with worthless policies, that people are counting on!My name: POA *********************** Fathers name: ********************************* Policy no:UCG0955806 Claim no:A797559 Hope you can resolve, I spoke w someone 8/23 after dad passed was told 2 months would be paid( $12,000 then received letter saying no payment would be given!Review fromSteve S

1 starDon't do it! Don't pay them a ***** for long-term insurance!Over the decades we paid $80,000 in premiums. At first the monthly payments were reasonable. Then they doubled them. Then they doubled them again--$600+ a month for me and $600+ a month for my wife! Who can afford that?!Eventually, they sent a letter saying we had several options: 1. Pay the same amount, get less coverage now and even less in the future. 2. Pay more for current coverage, with premium increases in the future. 3. Get half of the money back and get no coverage. Yes! They would keep $40,000!We choose #3. We weren't going to pay $600+ each for less coverage. We also weren't going to give them more and more money. So we got our $40,000 and have no coverage--and they have our other $40,000! We checked--it's *************!Do not go with this company. In fact, if you go with another company, you better be sure you know what you are getting into!
