I went to Valley Subaru service department in October 2021 for a check engine light that was a catalytic converter code. They said they replaced it under the Federal Emmissions Warrenty. Several weeks later the check engine light came on again. I had another mechanic look at the car and will attest that they did not replace the catalytic converter. The 2nd time I took it in they said I needed a new o2 sensor and that would give the same code as a catalytic converter. So several months later I had the o2 sensor replaced. I paid over $900 for that and other services, including the diagnostic fee. The car was out of the shop a matter of days when the light came on again. So, I took it back a 3rd time. This time they said it was bad spark plugs. What they did not know is I had someone check and verify the catalytic converter was never replaced on the front, even after they told me multiple times it was replaced. I asked to see the code and said I would take it for a 2nd opinion and would replace the spark plugs myself. They then decided to put me in a rental, which I drove for 2 weeks!! I get my car out of the shop after they replaced the 2nd sensor at cost and gave me a free batter, and it had a new front catalytic converter on it. I should have never had to pay for the o2 sensor, and diagnostic fee the 2nd time if they had replaced it the first time as they should have. I have contacted them and requested a refund for the money I paid the 2nd time to replace an o2 sensor and the diagnostic fee. They violated the clean air act by not replacing the cat converter the 1st time, I paid for a part that I did not need. They saw a young single woman and decided to pad the bill and take my money.
