Purchased a car from APX Auto Brokers and were asked to sign a document stating that within the next 30 days, if we find mechanical issues that we give them the opportunity to make the repairs to avoid having to reimburse us for other mechanics to repair. Within a couple of days, the emergency brake stopped engaging and is disconnected. The car pulls harshly to the left when braking and the engine is surging while accelerating. I called APX and ******** asked me to bring it in but wait until Monday because the mechanic is not in on the weekends. We brought it in on Tuesday and were met with instant insults from one of the young salesman, they refused any work on the car and the manager refused to meet with us, closing his door in our face instead (we have this all on video). They sold an undriveable vehicle and refused to correct it despite being told they would at signing. They sold us a lemon and did not provide copies of the sale and when asked for copies, they responded with "your paperwork is in the middle of being titled and is with our admin team". They state they don't have copies. They are stalling past the 30 days so they are not legally required to fix anything. The car is now at a dealership being safety checked and we have to seek legal remedy against them, which all could have been avoided had they been an ethical business that made sure their vehicles were safe. Young people don't have a lot of money and need an honest deal. We want the sale canceled and refunds for the safety and engine repairs.Business Response

Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention. I truly apologize for any frustration youve experienced, and I appreciate the opportunity to address your feedback. At APX Auto Brokers, we value our customers and believe in maintaining positive relationships even after the sale.
As the vehicle was purchased AS IS, with no implied warranty, we are unable to offer a return or reimbursement for repairs. We do encourage customers to have vehicles inspected before purchase, and I understand you took that step, which makes this situation all the more disappointing.
While returning the vehicle is not an option, Id like to offer a potential solution. If you'd be open to it, wed be happy to arrange for our shop to take a look at the car. This could help save you some money compared to taking the car elsewhere. Please feel free to email me directly to discuss how we can assist you further and find a resolution.
We genuinely appreciate your business, and Im hopeful we can find a way to resolve this matter to your satisfaction.Initial Complaint

We purchased a 2015 *********** from *** on July 19, 2024. The car had a sale price of 13k, however we walked out with a 22k bill of sale after APX tacked on all of the extra fees, unnecessary warranties, repair plans etc..basically everything you could tack on that was unnecessary and extra. We were definitely preyed on due to our unique financial situation. My Credit wasn't great due to my being a permanently disabled veteran who in the last 10 years had to havev5 brain surgeries, 3 back and spine surgeries, and a heart surgery due to my time in service. I was medically retired and my husband had to become my caregiver. We are in the process of improving our credit after having to burn through savings due to medical bills and loss of employment. We needed a car for our son to get to work and school, so we came to *** for help. They sold is a car with no alarm system, no electronic key, a broken trunk latch, a broken radio, and bad tires.jacking our bill up 10k was just wrong and we had to basically beg them to repair the faulty brakes, which they only shaved the rotor instead of repairing. I've discussed the extra fees tacked on with a lega team who has seen the predatory nature in this and offered me legal recourse to pursue. I'm giving one attempt to *** to remedy this situation with me directly canceling the part of my loan that included all of the extra fees and warranties. This amounts to about 8k dollars. I prefer contact only though the email provided, or text at the phone number provided. Do the right thing APX, you have many unhappy customers and 1 star reviews, remedy these things and stop preying on folks, I know you have several *** complaints as well, and past customers are looking to revoke your license. I just want these predatory fees removed from my account.Business Response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
I am writing in response to the complaint submitted regarding the purchase of a 2015 ***** Miata from *** on July 19, 2024. We would like to acknowledge the concerns raised and clarify our position in this matter.
We understand and empathize with the customers unique financial situation and the challenges they have faced due to medical issues. Our goal at *** is to provide quality vehicles and services to all of our customers, and we take any concerns seriously. However, we would like to provide some context regarding the issues raised:
Pricing and Fees: The customers bill of sale included various fees, warranties, and add-ons, which were all explained to the customer at the time of purchase. These included necessary fees for the vehicles maintenance and protection, as well as optional extended warranties and service plans. The customer was given the option to decline some of these add-ons, but they chose to include them as part of the purchase agreement.
Vehicle Condition: We acknowledge that the vehicle had some issues at the time of sale, and we regret that the customer was dissatisfied with the car. We have addressed the concerns regarding the brakes and are committed to ensuring the vehicle is in good working order. Our records show that the necessary repairs were made, including the rotor resurfacing, as per our standard repair procedures.
Resolution: APX is committed to resolving customer concerns in a fair and professional manner. While we believe that the customer was informed of the optional nature of the add-ons, we are willing to review the case further and engage in discussions to see if a reasonable resolution can be reached.

I am rejecting this response because:i was not given any option to decline the many add ons, warranties and service plans. In fact i was told if i didnt sign these that i wouldn't be able to receive the vehicle. The interaction was recorded for our safety. So i was afforded no option to decline. Many others have had similar complaints- the information is public.
The maintenance requested on the vehicle was incomplete as we had several more issues with this vehicle other then just the rotors needing planing. It was so difficult to get a maintenance appointment with them that we had to do most of these things ourselves and pay more out of pocket.
The business states they will help with this matter, but i havent received an email stating this. I plan to pursue this until an agreement of some type is reached as i know i have legal recourse, especially with all of the proof from other customers.
I would like the add ons, extra warranties and fees canceled or refunded so I can lower this outrageous debt. Again, we went in for a 13k car and came out with a 23k car after 10k in random add ons that we couldn't decline. Please do the right thing here APX
Sincerely,
**** ****Business Response

We understand your concerns regarding the coverage plan. We would like to clarify that the total cost was not $10,000, nor did it escalate to $23,000. In fact, the actual cost was less than half of that amount. As is customary with every sale we complete, all associated fees are entirely optional.
The protected plan was chosen by you to help mitigate the risk of bearing full financial responsibility in the event of significant repairs. If you wish to cancel the coverage, you are certainly welcome to do so, and we will be happy to assist you with that process. I am rejecting this response because: I'm being told that I had a choice to reject the extra fees, warranties and service at the time of sale and I didn't- in fact we were told that we had to get these in order to buy the car, and the total loan amount sent to the bank was for the entire amount of the car and and the extra charges, prior to me even coming in to make the choice or not. The total price of the car was far less without all of these extras- we just want to pay for the car- not the service contract, not the extra warranties, not the cost for tracking etc- whatever was placed on top of the price of the vehicle- ALL we want to pay for is the vehicle. I will stop pursuing any complaints once this is completed. Thank you for your response.

I am rejecting this response because: I've been discussing this issue with APX via email. I plan to CC the BBB into this conversation so they can see it. I was sent a cancelation form for these services- ALL of them, and APX is trying to prorate me for them even though I never wanted nor used them. Not only this but I keep hearing different things from them, including the response to this- why would I have to call them if someone has already been reaching out and acting as if they are planning to submit the cancelation. I was also told it takes nearly 2 months to process which is ridiculous considering I'm paying on all of these services I didn't want currently. They do this constantly to people as you can see in the other complaints against them. APX you need to refund at least 6000 to my loan balance ro make this right. I'm not going to just forget about this and plan to pursue legal action if this isn't handled with integrity. As *** stated to you, you have to stop doing this to your customers. I need an amount and a date that this will be completed by considering I'll just keep going back and forth at this point due to your company not communicating.
Sincerely,

On October 1 2024, I went into Trucks Plus to buy a car. I am a True Car member and I bank with ************. There is a car buying program offered through True Car and I picked out a car and liked the deal that the dealership pre-approved for the car, a **** A3 Hatchback. The two sales people said that the car was there and then asked me to have a seat. They were in the back a long time. One of them come out and goes over the cars that they are willing to sell me. None of them are the **** A3.I pick out a Kia ***** After 5 hours of them verifying and calling everyone on my application and getting my financial statements and having me talk to Reliable credit A** I am told that they have me financed. I drive the car home after signing paperwork. The next day I get a text asking for my declaration page of my insurance. Two days later a text asking me to come and correct some paperwork. That he had made a mistake and I just had to re- sign some stuff. I keep the car until Nov 2. They never call me during this time. I call them about where I make payment. The creditor on my contract said that they did not have an account for me. The guy at Trucks Plus told me to come in and set up my account. I came the next day and they tell me that they don't have any leanders to finance the *** and that I will get my money back and then part ways. I said why is this? No calls? He said that they could not verify my address or employer. This was a lie. I spent 5 hours in there as they talked to the woman that pays me and as she sent me money. My address is on my credit report and LICENSE. They verified everything a month ago and I filled out the application with the correct information. This man continues to lie to me saying that are giving back my money but they move the car after taking the keys from the glovebox and don't give anything. They owe me *******Business Response

I recently purchased a ***** from ***. If you don't read any more, take the car for an inspection or just do not buy a car from them at all. They sell poorly maintained overpriced cars! I found my oil was 3yrs old and overfilled by a quart requiring immediate replacement. The trans fluid also needed immediate replacement. The bald tires were conveniently rotated to the back and unfortunately I only looked at the front's that are about 3/32, requiring immediate replacement. Also the cabin air filter had tons of leaves and was clogged. The final straw of me writing this review is that when I realized the one key that was provided only worked in the ignition and not in the doors/trunk. I called APX and their response was some cars we get are that way so use the key fob and he had his mobile key guy call me and ended up paying to have door keys cut. We also discovered a rear door lock actuator needs replacing. After reading the other reviews for APX, I should have just moved on and kept ************ date I have spent over $1k to make the car safe and hopefully reliable as a family car for my kids to drive, I will not buy from APX auto brokers again because they lack the integrity to be trusted. They also mentioned **************** but they are far from that. Don't let them pressure you into thinking a deal will not be available tomorrow. I hope this saves the next person a lot of time, money, frustration, and disappointment.Business Response

On October 19 2024. My dad and I went to look at a car I thought about purchasing. After inspection of the vehicle we noticed that there were a few things we had questions about. The main problems were the breaks and key fob not working. The salesman said that he would fix the problems and the car would be ready by Friday October 25th. He assured if the problems weee not foxed on that date that the contract will be null and void. The price that was agreed upon was $7500 for the 2014 KIA ******* With $6000 cash down and $1500 more when we picked up the vehicle. (We have the transaction on video tape. Everything from the agreement to the counting out the money..) we went back on Friday and the problems werent fixed. We asked for our money back and after awhile the salesman agreed, which is also on tape. He attempted to have me sign a paper stating he rescinded the offer and refunded my money. I refused to sign because he said he couldnt return my money until Monday the 28th. He told us to return on Monday because thats when the check will be ready. We returned Monday and he wasnt working. Spoke to another gentleman who said he would have the check later that day. I called back numerous times to find that he blocked my phone number. They havent refunded my money and they still have the car which I never drove of the lot. I am an 18yr old student who works 2 jobs and is a. Full time student. I worked hard to save up that money for it to be stolen from me right under my noise. As previously stated I have everything recorded including the salesman telling me to come back to pick up my refund. He stated on tape that he is not trying to still my money but its exactly what he is trying to do. They have made my first car buying experience a nightmare. I am suffering emotional distress thinking of the final outcome. *** unable to upload the videos on this site but I do have them.Business Response

Took my daughter to this establishment to purchase a car she wanted. We agreed upon a price of $7500 with fixtures on the car. They agreed that the key fob would work. (Because it might be an electrical problem. )The brake lights also didnt work. The broker agreed to fix these things by the following Friday. He agreed on camera that if they werent fixed they would return the $6000 we gave to hold until the items were fixed on Friday. We return on Friday and the brakes were still not working nor did the Fob work. We asked for a refund being that they didnt uphold to their end of the deal. The salesman tried to fight it then agreed to give us our money back. He said he couldnt get the check until Monday to come back. He also tried to have us sign something stating he rescinded the deal. I refused to sign it because we didnt have our money. Went back today and salesman is not working. Dealt with another salesman who said they had the check ready but it wasnt signed by the boss. He said it would be later in the day and they would call me. I called back to keep getting the run around. Called back later and they blocked my number and wont take my calls. They kept our money and we never took the car off the lot. These people are straight scammers even when everything is on video tape. Do not waist your time with this establishment. I have video of everything but this format doesnt accept it.Business Response

I purchased a 2004 VW Jetta from APX Auto Brokers in February 2024. While look at the car I had asked if there was any frame damage or serious mechanical damage to the car and I was told No. Shortly after purchasing the car, I took it to my mechanic to just have some tune up and regular maintenance done. After my mechanic evaluated my car he said there was significant damage to the car and it was unsafe to drive in it current condition. They had to replace the inner and outer tie rods as well as the front wheel hub assemblies to make it safe to drive. This cost me about $2600. The car itself cost $4000. I thought it was illegal to sell a car that was unsafe to drive. Why do consumers (especially when it comes to car dealers) have no rights to protect themselves against these types of situations? I cannot afford an attorney to assist me with this matter. I am requesting a refund ( which Im sure I will not get)Business Response

Hi, *********;
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. I want to address your points to clarify our position:
Tie Rods and Wheel Hubs: The replacement of tie rods and wheel hubs is a standard maintenance procedure and does not typically indicate structural damage. These components are vital for steering and alignment but are not related to the vehicles frame or structural integrity.
Disclosure of Vehicle Condition: At APX Auto Brokers, we strive to provide accurate and honest information about the vehicles we sell. The assurance that there was no frame or serious mechanical damage was based on our assessment and available information at the time of sale. Mechanical issues, such as those involving tie rods and hubs, can develop over time and may not always be apparent during a pre-sale inspection.
Compliance and Consumer Protection: We adhere to legal standards and strive to ensure our vehicles meet safety requirements. Any issues identified after the sale are typically related to normal wear and tear. We are committed to transparency and disclose known issues to the best of our ability.
Resolution: We value your feedback and want to address your concerns directly. Please contact us so we can discuss the situation further and work towards a satisfactory resolution. Our goal is to ensure all our customers have a positive experience.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to resolving this matter.
Best regards,

I am rejecting this response because: This vehicle was unsafe to drive when I purchased it and I was NEVER notified of this by APX Auto. They should not be selling vehicles that are unsafe. As a consumer, I have rights to purchase a vehicle and at least feel secure enough to know that I am not putting myself or any other driver in danger because I was sold an unsafe vehicle.

On Sunday May 19th I paid apx auto brokers $1000 for a down payment. $500 cash and $500 on card and two of their employees handled my transaction. On May 23rd ***** at apx texted me and had only initially told me that the temporary registration and a few signatures were forgotten. Less than two hours later, the financing "didn't go through" and I needed to return the car immediately. The bank revoked the financing and apx sent a representative to come get the car per my request. I was told by **** and ***** both that they "did not in fact have to return the money and [they] were just trying to work with me". I ceased contact with them directly after letting them know I would be reporting them to the police and BBB. The Lynnwood sheriff's department claimed it was not theft. I am still awaiting my refund, the story apx has been telling my attorney has been that the person authorized to give refunds doesn't work until Thursday. The day I'm supposed to receive my refund and the story keeps changing and frankly I just wanted to be done with these people before they hung up on me the first time.Business Response

We offered to refund her money immediately after her financing fell through. She proceeded to scream at us, threaten us as well as texting the most disturbing and vulgar things we had ever seen calling my salesman names, his mother names and so on. We did not want to escalate the situation and refund her money but ******* was adamant that she get more then what she put down, and a plethora of other things we simply would not agree to. We just wanted to give her down payment back in full but that was not enough for her at the time. This review is incredibly misleading as it's simply not true and we did everything we could in our power to resolve this immediately and get her all of her down payment back.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
Nobody screamed at anyone until I was hung up on and refused a refund. Unprofessional behavior begets unprofessional behavior.I only said things that were true that the salesmen themselves were heard saying (regarding their drug and gun proclivities).
I only demanded my deposit back (even after they tried to charge me the tolls for their 'repossession') and was only offered it back when I removed a ****** review. I will be reposting it now as they still failed to admit their inability to follow proper procedures when selling and financing a car.
