In 2012 State Roofing installed a new roof on my home using Euroshield shingles costing $19,385. They promised a lifetime warranty on their workmanship at the time. I found out recently that the roof was not installed properly (nails were not properly placed), the product is faulty, and the roof is now leaking due to these issues. State Roofing came out in August 2024 to investigate the leak. They reported rusted nails, warped shingles, and other issues that they believed were the cause of the leak. They then asked me for the original paperwork they had provided me back in 2012, but I no longer have it. They said due to this, the warranty would not be honored. I then asked them to provide an estimate for the repairs and still have not responded with one. I have been waiting for 5 months with a leaking roof. In the meantime, I have contacted other roofers for estimates and opinions. One of these roofers I even paid to try fixing the roof back in December 2024, but it still leaks. Each of the roofers said the best course of action is to replace the roof due to all the issues (incorrect installation, warped and shrinking shingles, and a pipe that is no longer sealed properly). State Roofing still refuses to honor their warranty and is now saying that we have voided our warranty because we had someone come out and try to fix the leak.

We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and clarify the situation.

At State Roofing, we stand behind our work and take warranty concerns seriously. Our warranties require that they be presented to us for verification and that no other companies perform work on the roof, as outside repairs can impact the integrity of the system. Unfortunately, we were not provided the warranty paperwork, and outside repairs were completed, which does void the coverage.

That being said, we understand that this is a frustrating situation, and we want to help. Based on our inspection in August 2024, the primary issue appears to be manufacturer defects, specifically curling and shrinking shingles. While manufacturer defects are not covered under our workmanship warranty, we are happy to work with you to determine what repairs can be done.

We sincerely apologize for any delays in getting an estimate back to you. Our team will follow up directly to schedule a time to revisit the roof and provide a repair estimate as requested.

We value our customers and want to find a solution that helps you move forward. Please reach out directly so we can continue working toward the best possible resolution.

      Sincerely,
      State Roofing &Exteriors

We had a new roof installed in March, 2022 . In November of this year, the roof over our master bathroom failed. State Roofing sent a repairman who replaced one shingle. The water continued to pour through the ceiling. We called Service Master to dry out the attic. Then State Roofing sent another worker who replaced some rotten plywood , some shingles and tightened the vents. State roofing has refused to fix the damage caused by their poor workmanship. The drying out of the attic cost$800. To fix our ceiling is going to cost $4000. None of this would have happened if the job had been done properly. I think they should at least contribute to the cost of the damage.

We sincerely apologize for the distress and inconvenience caused by the issues with your roof. We understand how frustrating this situation must be for you, and we are committed to ensuring the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Regarding the interior damage to your property, we want to clarify that the 5-star Certainteed warranty you purchased covers materials and installation only, it does not extend to interior damages. This limitation is consistent with industry standards, as major manufacturers and installers typically do not cover interior damages.

I am rejecting this response because:the only thing you paid for was the roof. The faulty roof caused a great deal of water damage, destroying the existing insulation and causing the ceiling to collapse in my bathroom.  If you only paid for the drying out of the water, I would accept that but you act like your poor installation is not your fault and it is.

We contracted with State Roofing on 9/2/2022 for a **** square feet of PVC roofing on a patio cover to include 2 solar tubes. This cover also needed to replace a few feet of our existing home roof. (I have since been told that a permit was required by the *************** (none was obtained)the roof was installed on 1/12/23.Through the project and up to the end of March we contacted the company with multiple calls and texts because of leaks in the roof to include one in our dining room. They would send an "expert" and each time we were assured there was no prolem. In late march my husband sent pictures of the water and mold on the underside of our patio cover to the project manager and sales agent (see photos). This got their attention and they came back April 3-4/2023 to redo the roof. As mitigation, the manager offered to paint the underside of the roof which we accepted rather than pursuing the company . In late July a young man (on L&I) applied a coat of Kilz to ****** the mold. When I called to inquire as to when he would come back to finish the paint job, I was told it was done. In August I twice sent a letter to the CEO/owner at a P.O. Box and office in ******* with no acknowlegement. This has been very difficult for us as we are seniors 77- 78 years old.

Upon reviewing your documentation and ****** receipt, it's clear that exterior paint/primer was applied to the exposed plywood and underside of the patio.
However, I'd like to clarify that painting services were not included in the original scope of work outlined in your contract. Consequently,we are unable to provide a warranty for the paint or painting of the patio.

I am rejecting this response because:

It is not acceptable. A receipt for paint does not prove the painting was done.

See attached photo shows their painting of the Kilz application to ****** the mildew caused by improper roofing installation.  This is not a finishwd paint application.

      Sincerely,
