On 3/9/22 *********************** of MG Exterior Contracting LLC provided us with an estimate to resurface our 860 sq/ft deck with Trex Decking. The amount we paid was $11,330 for labor and taxes, plus $13,000 for materials. On 3/22/22 we they provided us with an estimate to repair both chimneys, remove siding & trim to wall wrap, replace any boards that need replacement and reuse/refurbish chimney covers. The chimney job was estimated for worst case scenario & if job does not require complete tear off, labor cost will be adjusted & price would go down. We paid $9,000 for labor & materials. The chimney job was completed and MG Exteriors did not need to remove/replace any boards or refurbish the chimney cover on the 2nd chimney. I asked ******* if we would be getting money back (as it said in the estimate he provided). He said No. I was not happy with his answer. On 6/22/22 **** said his partner, **** would come to fix some problems with the deck. After **** fixed the deck problems I asked if they could replace a partial step that they put in (where a full step was originally) and install another step where we originally had a step (both original steps were there when **** did the estimate). **** said he could do that at no cost, but not that day. I texted **** and he said they would do the work in August. I have called and texted **** and **** numerous times and they have not answered my texts or phone calls.I would like to have MG Exterior Contracting LLC to install the 2 steps that they promised. I would like a rebate on the amount we paid for the chimney repairs, since they only repaired one chimney and we paid for repairs on two chimneys.

Dear Mr and **** ************************         I understand that you guys are frustrated and wanting additional information and I apologize you feel this way. When we were replacing all the deck boards on your deck I asked *** **** about that extended step, and asked if he wanted to keep it. He originally said he was unsure. When getting closer to completion of the build I asked him again if he wanted it there and he said no it was fine. In fact because the deck was exposed underneath for possible animals to go under, he asked us if we could put up the lattice for free to make sure nothing could get under there. Again at the end of the deck Job when both Mr and **** **** looked over the deck they said it was great and had no complaints. The stairs on the proposal which were built correctly were referring to the stairs that lead off to the back side of the house. The step off the deck was approved by both *** and **** **** before we received payment. The additional step wasn't asked about again until late June, at which point I said it wasn't part of the original estimate and we would have to charge. Mr and **** **** got frustrated via text message and said that wasn't the case. If that wasn't the case then why did they sign off on the deck after it was built. **** did say that when he has time he would try to make it out and see what he could do to help Mr and **** **** out. **** has taken over operations in the Puget sound area, as I am no longer living in ********** due to family reasons. Unfortunately we had to move back home.

As for the Chimney repair, we did not need to remove the second chimney as it was inspected and was in good shape, we did however give the top a new galvanized paint treatment and painted all the trim on the upper portion as you guys asked to make it look better. However the first chimney was a lot worse than originally planned. We had to strip in down to the studs and apply mold treatment in the walls because of all the black mold from water intrusion. After the treatment was applied we had to completely scrub all the mold off, and rebuild the chimney all the way back up. As for the chimney top cap we had to apply multiple rust removals, to get all the rust off. When building back the framing we made sure it had the proper slope so water no longer sat on it and would drain off. As well as gave it a new galvanized coating on top to make it last. We did order more materials then needed which was paid for directly by the home owner, so the homeowner returned the materials and received money back. As for " not coming down on the labor" it was because of all the extra work we had to do to make sure everything was fixed correctly. I discussed this with *** **** as well before receiving payment and he agreed.

If any of the work was not satisfactory, then I would not have expected to be paid for when we did it. Again I apologize you guys feel frustrated, but we performed our work according to the agreement. The step work is extra that will need to be discussed with **** as I am no Longer living in Washington, and he said he would try to help you out with it.

I am rejecting this response because: When **** asked me about the step, he said it wasn't required per the building code. I was not satisfied with it not being installed. I felt pressured into agreeing to let it go like that. After thinking about it and considering what was originally installed (that he did the estimate for), I felt it should have been installed at no extra cost. We agree that the deck did look good. That is not what our complaint is about. We would like the partial step completed and the other missing step (next to the partial step) installed. For the chimney work, I stand by my complaint. He gave an estimate for worst case for both chimneys and did not have a worst case on the second chimney. Therefor we believe he should provide some rebate for the second chimney. **** is the original partner of this company and he is the only one that has replied to this complaint. We have tried to contact ****, but he doesn't answer our calls or texts and we have not other contact information for ****. We don't even know his last name. The main reason we filed this complaint is because neither **** or **** would respond to our calls or text messages. **** did say he would fix the step problem. He could see what the problem was. We have had no reply from **** or **** until **** replied to this complaint.

    Sincerely,
