      On September 30, 2021, ***** ******* made an unsolicited visit to my mother at **************************************************************. My mother is 89 years old and is clinically diagnosed with schizophrenia and dementia. ***** convinced her she needed $21,000 worth of cement work on her property. He demanded and received a check up front for $7,000 (***** Fargo check # ****; cashed by United Construction that same day). I have legal financial ***** of ******** for my mother, so when I heard of this transaction, I immediately called *****. He referred me to his employer, ******************************* (registered business owner of United Construction, **, among several other businesses in the Puget Sound Area). ******** politely apologized and agreed to refund the money. He said he would have to first send ***** back to "take back" the signed contract. ***** returned on October 1 and took back the contract. He did not leave a copy marked "void" or a refund for the $7,000. I called ********, who told me the money was going to be sent by the end of the week. This started a string of "can you just give me one more week?", "I sent it yesterday", "your mother already has it", etc. exchanges. I explained that my mother did not receive a check from him, but he could just void the one he claimed to have sent and send one to me. (I live in *********, **, but I flew up to *********** and checked my mother's well-kept financial records). When I finally threatened ******** with legal action, he sent me a check (BECU #***, dated December 15, 2021) for $7,000. The check was drawn on the account of United Automatic Gates WA, Inc. (another of ********** businesses, with an address of ********************************************************************* *****). That check promptly bounced. Certified letters, sent to the addresses listed on the United Construction WA website and on OPENGOVWA, demanding the refund were returned as undeliverable. It is worth looking at other reviews on Yelp and Home Advisor to see similar issues.

      United Construction and I entered into an agreement in early June 2021 to re-landscape our backyard, including the installation of pavers, resetting of irrigation lines, and pulling of electrical and gas lines to designated areas in our backyard per a pre-existing professional landscape plan. The project grew in scope at one point, but we later mutually agreed to cut the scope and price to that of the initial contact ($32,760). At that point, we had already given United Construction deposits totaling $32,000.We are now 6 months into a project that should have taken no more than two months and United Construction has recently abandoned the project outright. The project is not even 1/2 complete and hasnt seen any progress in three months. After four missed guaranteed project completion dates over the last three months (where contracted work crews never showed up and purchased materials were never delivered), I contacted the actual sub-contractors involved only to discover that United Construction's commitments were complete lies sub-contractors had not been scheduled or paid deposits, nor had materials been purchased. This project was also mismanaged from the beginning. I personally had to direct the electrical and gas pulls as well as the site prep as United Construction failed to provide any of the sub-contractors with the scaled plans I provided United Construction. Some work had to be undone, then redone. United Construction has left our backyard torn up and and an absolute mess, sand in my driveway, and holes in my garage where electrical wires were run. Recently, both the owner and project manager refuse to respond to any attempted correspondence regarding this project over the last week. The latest commitment United Construction made to me was on 11/27 stating the project would be completed in 10 days. Since then, the owner has been completely unresponsive despite at least a dozens attempts and zero progress has been made....again.

      I paid $8635.00 in deposit for built in bookshelves on July 21, 2021, to be done before my daughter started school 9/7/2021. In late September I asked for an itemized **** for the lighting and take down of the old shelves in the front room, which is the only part of the project completed and never received one. I also paid a separate deposit of $1750.00 for a skylight installation which was never begun. Both checks for deposits $8635 and $1750 have been cashed. The contractor made appointments with me at my home and then kept me waiting multiple times and either arrived very late or did not show up at all. I have had to hound them to stay in touch with me and still I don't have a completed project. On Monday, September 27th I sent an email AND a message asking for immediate refund of my $1750.00 in full and the remainder of the $8635.00 WITH an itemized **** for the lighting installation and bookshelf takedown. I expected several thousand dollars back since the bookshelves themselves have not yet been designed nor built. After multiple text exchanges, I summarized by email again to the business on October 12, 2021 that I still had no itemized receipt, no refund and no reply to my multiple emails. It is now 11/21/2021 and I still have received no itemized receipt and no refund, although I have received multiple promises since mid-October telling me that it was in process. I am left with no built-in bookshelves with no receipt and no refund of deposit unused. I have since been told to "call the owner every day" and "send more emails" to see if that "might help."Moreover, this business was recommended by **** (formerly Angie's ****** I am also informing them of my complaint and poor service.
