1 starWe have only submitted a claim once for our cat, they didnt pay it, and premiums went up. You cant cancel online. They make you call to cancel, then they force you to have a conversation with an aggressive sales person who wont let you cancel and keeps you on the phone. Do not recommend.Review fromSteve S

1 starWe have a puppy less than 8 weeks old figured insuring him right away would save money. Wrong. it is almost 70$ a month for a mixed breed. He got sick and took him to the vet 320 in first bills, made a claim, was shocked to find out, that they do your deductible PER DIAGNOSIS. So that means anyone who pays for this insurance, will have to pay a ton up front. Then they taught it as being lifetime deductible so you never have to pay again for that diagnosis. The problem is there are thousands of things he could be diagnosed with, and they are going to make sure each is a new instance that has to have a full deductible for. The only way this is going to be worth it is to insure a puppy and by the time they are very old and have bad medical issues, will you be able to actually get reimbursed for anything. Classic insurance company Will deny coverages for existing conditions but charge you like your getting covered for absolutely everything. I think my premiums just about doubled in 6 years with no ********* personal experience would have cost me over 7000 dollars for the term of my policy to be rejected on my first and only claim to cover to euthanize my pet versus putting him through a 3rd back surgery which wouldn't have been covered by them either. Appearntly if the reasoning for being euthanized has anything to do with a prior condition they won't cover it......it's not about the couple dollars I didn't get reimbursed but more about the slimey reasoning that they use to justify this denial all while keeping their hands out for your ever increasing monthly ********** yourself a favor and put the equivalent In a savings account.Trupanion

I agree with the others distrust and disgust in Trupanion. We picked up our 6 month old female doodle and went to the vet that same day for a checkup. The breeder we got her from supposedly works with trupanion and was covered for 30 days. We called and set her up with an insurance policy that same day, if not the day after. Her initial diagnostics at the vet visit caught that she had hookworm. I submitted invoices to Trupanion and they told me that wasn't covered due to it being "preventative". The breeder was notified and ghosted us when we mentioned the issues. Trupanion told me I needed to go after the drug companies themselves. In addition, my dog was seen for a UTI twice, and was put on a prescription diet. Those invoices were submitted and were partially applied towards individual deductibles based on condition. We have paid a total of $944.72 to trupanion, in addition to all the other costs that we have incurred with our pet. Trupanion has paid us $0.Trupanion

Trupanion denied my Cats dental claim due to preexisting conditions even when my vet sent a letter proving and stating it wasnt. I called to cancel and they harassed me over the phone. Claiming they never got the vets email, saying I shouldnt cancel, and explaining what preexisting conditions me-!z Ive tried canceling for over 20 mins. Finally said if you dont cancel Im going to report you and hang up. Finally when they canceled my policy they didnt even refund me the entire premium they charged. They since raised my premium almost $10 this year and they didnt refund me what was paid. Never again am I using this scam of an insurance company! Save your money!!!Trupanion

1 starBe very careful about purchasing the "Recovery and Complementary Care Rider" with this Company. Healthy Paws has a very similar rider and I had no problem getting reimbursed for Hydrotherapy for my previous dog. Unfortunately, Healthy Paws was not available when we adopted Dolly, our current dog. Details are as follows: My dog’s licensed Veterinarian recommended hydrotherapy for my dog, Dolly. I submitted her letter of recommendation and her medical plan which also recommended warm water swimming to help with Dolly’s degenerative disc disease and arthritis. The facility I go to, Fido Physio, provides regular updates to the Supervising Veterinarian and the therapy is provided by a person who is a member in good standing of the International Association of Animal Massage & Bodywork/Association of Canine Water Therapy and a Certificate of Canine Aquatic Therapy. When they denied my claim I filed an appeal with all of the above information and noted that I didn’t know of any Veterinarian Clinics that had warm water pools which Dolly’s doctor felt would be better for Dolly’s condition than a treadmill. When Trupanion denied it again they said that the therapy must be provided by “staff under direct veterinarian supervision. Alternatively, Physical Rehabilitation services may also be provided by a Certified Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT, CCRA, CCRP, CCRVN, VMRT, Diplomate Canine Rehab from Canadian Physiotherapy Association) if referred by a veterinarian. Because the requirement for a Certified Rehabilitation Therapist is not included in the Policy Rider, I believe the rider is made in Bad Faith. I completely agree with the other 1-star reviews. This company is nearly impossible to reach. I've spent over an hour just waiting on hold to speak with someone. While they offer a callback option, its not much helpyoure still stuck waiting since you dont want to miss their call and start the process all over ******** make matters worse, they mishandled my cancellation and only issued a partial refund. The good news? There are other companies that offer better service at a lower price. I highly recommend looking elsewhere.Trupanion

Be careful! Just like most pet insurances, Trupanion will do ANYTHING to deny claims citing preventative care, previous conditions or symptoms such as scratching. Dont be fooled by their cute pet photos or marketing. They do NOT care about your pet. They want your money and will suddenly increase your monthly premiums 50% (167 to 250) for market adjustments.Trupanion

In November I cancel my service out and they try to say. I told them I will keep it but they didn't charge me in December but they try to double charge me in Jan 2025. I called them up and informed them I canceled my service out. They reimburse me for. Jan but they wouldn't reimburse me for December.And I couldn't explain the reason why they didn't try to take the payment out in December I'm actually making a claim at my bank to get It reversed.Trupanion
