    Pattern of Complaint:

    On January 26, 2017, BBB recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding service, customer service, billing, and refund issues. Complaints allege that consumers purchased a game, however it would not load, or when it did load it would not run properly.

    Consumers allege when requesting a refund due to the game not running properly, they are denied a refund based on the company’s policy of the game showing that it was played over two hours. Consumers allege they did not play the game for two hours and it’s logging the time it took for the game to load, not playing time.

    Consumers allege they were banned from their account for no reason. They were provided a canned response, but no detailed information why they were banned.

    Consumers allege their accounts were hacked, and items in their account were stolen.

    Consumers allege they received unauthorized charges for games they did not purchase.

    Consumers allege when purchasing a gift card, the PIN number from the card is illegible for the gift card to be used.

    Consumers allege they were promised a refund from the company, but they did not receive a refund.

    Consumers allege they were double charged when purchasing a game.

    Consumers allege they are scammed when trading weapons with other gamers.

    Consumers further allege they purchased a game based on the features advertised, however when playing the game they found the features were not as advertised.

    Consumers further allege when receiving a response from the company concerning their issues, they were given general responses or the company was unresponsive altogether.

     

    BBB reached out to the company in an effort to address the underlying cause(s) of its pattern of complaints.

      Hi,A year ago my steam account was breached and I had lost all hope to recover it. Resetting my password, email, even contacting steam support were no help. During that time multiple fraudlent transactions were placed on my account which thus has limited my accounts functionality. A red message appears on the top right of my account stating "This account appears to have been used for fraudulent activity.Steam Support has flagged your account as potentially having been used for fraudulent activities. Please contact Steam Support so that we can assist you."After clicking the Steam Support function I am presented with all the transaction flagged by Steam, they range from steam gift cards to stolen credit cards.I requested Steam to remove the restriction from my account and provided proof of my credit cards showing them that those flagged transactions were not mine.But to no help I have been denied any support from steam multiple times. This is unacceptable.

      Valve's game, Dota 2, has unendurable wait times to play a game. Which means that I can't play the game, but also I can't use the products I bought in the game. I have spent over 50 dollars on this game, and am unable to access those products because of this wait time.

      I had purchased and redeemed a global steam product code for The Outer Worlds on 2021/07/04 with no problems from G2A which is a well known legit website purchased from a verified seller. I had been playing and using this game with no problems at all for roughly a month now if not longer and I just received an account alert from steam stating that it has been removed from my account and revoked due to problem processing payment for the item. I PAID for this game and had been playing it for extended periods of time. Had I been contacted by steam in a timely manner I would've had options regarding getting a refund but I am well past that as an option at this point (14 days on G2A) . I want this game put back on my account ASAP as I paid for the game already, Steam took significant amounts of time to address the code (33 days) and now I have no other recourse with G2A. I have been a long time steam user, purchaser this is a poor customer experience. ********************** has so far refused my request.

      My game account password randomly stopped working due to failed attempts I was locked out of my account , I then proceeded to make a ticket with steam to recover my password and Ive been waiting on a reply for 3 hours now with no sign of being answered , you cant contact on the phone or get ahold of a live person, this is making my anxiety go through the roof , nothing is working and no one will help me

      Asked.for a refund for a game I can't use due.to hardware shortages, I tried for weeks to buy the hardware I needed but can only find sellers that are Scalping at 3-4 x the retail price. I have spent a lot of money with steam over the past 10+ years this is a unusual situation because of teg state of the world, I explained why I wanted a refund I don't know if they even read what it said all I got was a NO! So I'm stuck with a $129 game I can't use.
