I wish I could give 0 stars. ALG "Southwest Vacations" is a very shady business. They masquerade as an affiliate of Southwest Airlines, but apparently they are not the same company or an affiliate. As stated in their refund policy, if you cancel your vacation, the airline portion will be refunded to the regular form of payment if you purchase Business Select seats with Southwest. They ended up refunding us the wrong amount, $560ish instead of the $5000+ they were supposed to, and instead refunded the remainder as an airline credit. We called to get it straightened out, and they admitted that the wrong amount was refunded and said that they would issue a request for a correction for the remaining amount; however, they never did, and after several days of phone calls, they informed us that we would not be getting a refund because they already gave us travel credits. Travel credits are useless to us. We have no other trips planned, and you cannot get a cash value for these credits. They use shady tactics to get you to give up by making you call back and not calling you back, long hold times, not transferring you to the correct departments, or just hanging up on you. They have told us five different stories and we have asked multiple times to talk to a supervisor and they just keep giving us the runaround. This company should not be in business at all.Review from Lucas M

This is a horrible company to deal with. They should not be able to use Southwest in their name. Horrible customer service. When you contact their chat you will get different answers depending on who you get. Calling them is even worse. You will be lucky to get through to someone no matter what time of day you call. The call volume speaks to the horrible customer service. I got burned with these people.Review from Patricia F

We booked a vacation thru Southwest vacations not knowing that ALG was who we were actually booking thru. Never the less our flight was cancelled on 1/11 and we have been fighting to get our money back since. Southwest airlines states that Southwest vacations is responsible. We are being penalized 2 nights from the hotel for cancelling when it's no fault of ours. We were told to get it thru ********(our insurance) for the vacation. They have declined it stating that Southwest vacation is responsible to pay us back because we didn't personally cancel ourselves. It's bad enough to have your vacation ruined but to have to go thru this **** to get your money back is totally absurd. Don't ever book thru Southwest vacations.Review from Derrick P

When you look at their United Vacations website for hotels in Maui be careful when booking one that they say includes breakfast. We booked a resort through them and the first thing you see at the top of the resort profile is that daily breakfast is included. We booked based off this and now they are claiming that you have to scroll down to a specific room type, which is more expensive, to get the included breakfast. False advertisingReview from Sue A

I had a reservation for Maui 8/7/23-8/12/23, #J8471304. We were there for 1 day, and then the fires happened. We were without power starting on 8/8/23, finally evacuated when the roads opened 8/9/23. I have been in contact with SW Vacations/ALG since 8/11/23, requesting a refund. SW Vacations/ALG has been giving me the run around for over a month. They said that they cannot issue a refund without confirming such details with the Marriott. I, personally, have been in touch with the hotel and Marriott corporate and Marriott Office of Consumer Affairs. The Marriott has confirmed that I am entitled to a refund for all the days of my reservation. I have forwarded that email from Marriott to SW Vacations/ALG. I have also forwarded my folio/receipt from the Marriott, showing that every night has been credited. SW Vacation/ALG continues to state they cannot process a refund because they need approval from Marriott. Not only have I provided this approval, but when a 3rd party (SW Vacations/ALG) purchases rooms from a hotel (Marriott), the 3rd party is the one responsible for refunds! Not the company they bought them from.Review from JO S

This group also goes by the name of Southwest Vacations. Terrible customer service. I booked a vacation package. The next day I tried to cancel the package and was told it was too late. I called within 24 hours of receiving the the reservation confirmation. My trip is not scheduled for another 5 weeks. I was told I could get a credit but not a refund. The reason I am asking for a refund is because today the same trip, same flights, same hotel is $300 cheaper than yesterday. I asked for a refund or for the same trip for $300 less. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with a representative who could do absolutely nothing. Do not book with Southwest Vacations. They are terrible!!Review from Melin P

My girlfriend and I booked a package to Yellowstone. 7/15 to 7/20. They booked our rental car for 11 pm at night. It was supposed to correspond with out plane arriving at 10:30 am. We have both talked to them on line and over phone. The first person online says yes we did book it wrong must of been something in system. We have this screen shot. But we have been treated rudely and hung up on. They say they won’t book it and pay the difference. When there own employee said it was there fault. They want us to pay 300 dollars more. I called the rental place personally and they said they had cars. But Southwest says they didn’t. They have left my gf and her son trying to find a rental car. We had one for 556 and looking at 1100 dollars. We talked to a supposed manger today and she said pretty much o well. She was in Columbia. This is the worse customer service and company I have ever dealt with. They should be put out of business. We can’t even get them to reimburse our card.Review from Gina R

This company is horrible! Do not do business with them!!!! We had a tripped planned since Sept 2022 and here we are July 2023 and they canceled our trip because they never put the deposit down for hotel. I spoke to Riu and they said they didn't have ANYTHING in the system for us! Imagine a 75th birthday trip of 51 people and the day before we leave we learn it's canceled. They will be hearing from my lawyer!Review from James M

This review is on Southwest Vacations not Southwest Airlines. We had purchased flight and hotel through Southwest Vacations, with our stay in Vegas being at the Wynn in April of this year. We had to cancel about 72 hours out due to the unexpected death and funeral of my wife's step father. We received a voucher on our flights for future travel but were initially told that our hotel was nonrefundable. Southwest said this was Wynn's policy, I checked with Wynn and they said because it was booked 3rd party it was on the 3rd party to refund or not. Southwest Vacations was adamant about not giving us a refund. We did however end up getting an email with vouchers for future hotel stays. While we would have preferred a complete refund this would have been acceptable as we frequently vacation in Vegas and stay at various hotels on the strip. However yesterday we received a follow up email saying that our refund vouchers had been reduced to $47 each, out of nearly $700 we paid for the booking. They had the nerve to start the email off with "Dear Valued Customer, we're here for you before you go and while you're on your getaway." Yeah right, that's why you're keeping nearly $600 of our money. I could understand them charging a small cancellation fee but to keep all that money - that's robbery. We have never had any serious issues with Southwest Airlines, so we will continue flying with them, but we will NEVER book anything through Southwest Vacations ever again.
