I called Erspamer to get a quote to replace a faucet and add a water filter. I asked the owner for an estimate and was quoted $350.00 and he went on to say it was a relatively easy job and could be done by a Plumber in about an hour. When the plumbers (more than one) showed up they were done in about 50 minutes. Why they needed two guys to do what I was told was a one man job I don’t know. When they gave me a bill for $650.00 dollars I was shocked. I asked the plumber why so much he said that I was paying for two plumbers to do the job. As I found out later one was only a helper. When I called the owner and complained he said “what do you want me to do”? I said it would be nice if you stuck by your original quote. He just cashed my $650.check and I never heard from him again. Beware dealing with this company they lie . If you do do business with them make them come out and give you a written quote.

It is unfortunate that we have been unable to resolve this with you. ********************* had given you a verbal estimate, sight unseen, for $350 to replace your outside spigot and replace a filter in what he understood to be an existing whole house water filter system. When the Journeyman and Apprentice plumbers arrived to perform the work, it was discovered that you needed your new whole house filter system installed, not a simple filter replacement. This work was different than what the verbal estimate was for.When feasible, Erspamer Plumbing dispatches a 2-man team of a Journeyman and an Apprentice plumber. It is a much more efficient working configuration and results in lower labor billable costs. Our published rate for a 2-man is $240.00/hour which is cheaper than charging twice for a 1-man rate. This job required 3 man-hours. We billed you at a 2-man rate of $240 for 1.5 hours or $360.00. Had we dispatched one Journeyman, he would have billed for 3 hours at $140.00 or $420.00. The Apprentice was a 3rd year Apprentice, not a plumbers helper.When you spoke with ********************* about the invoicing, ***** offered to reduce the amount of your **** due to the miscommunication about the whole house filter system. You noted that even if the **** was for the amount of the verbal estimate, you planned to submit an online complaint. With no possibility of making you a satisfied customer, yes, we did process your payment. We have provided you with a fair price and quality workmanship. We have tried very hard to make you a satisfied customer. As always, we appreciate your patronage.
