We did not sell you dead plants, by your own admission you killed the plants by not following the included prep, planting and care instructions which were required to validate the warranty. This is what you agreed to when you made your purchase.Review from Susan T

I was told to come down and choose the one shrub/tree I wanted to be planted. I did. Never responded to my emails and calls as to when the work would be done. When my email became stronger, I was told workers were hard to find.I left the issue open to whenever he could do the work. This was last year.Northern Ridge Nursery Response

We have a very simple warranty process. When you receive your plant in the mail the first thing the instructions have you do is a scratch test within 48 hours of receiving the plant to make sure it survived the trip. If you get a failed scratch test the instructions say to contact ** immediately with a photo of the failed test and we will send a fresh replacement and if the plant passes the test then to proceed with the planting process according to our included easy to follow prep, planting and care instructions and the plant is then covered under warranty for an additional year in the form of store credit for the entire amount of your purchase. In the event a plant dies during the warranty period all you need do is go to the warranty webpage and complete a claim form that lets ** know that you used our prep, planting and care instructions, which is required to validate the warranty. Choosing not to follow our instructions will most likely cause the plant to die and will void the warranty.Review from Nancy G

We answered all of this customers email, however I suspect that she has a spam filter that is blocking our email. She ordered 1 day before the ordering deadline and our checkout alerted her to the fact that we had a 2 to 3 week shipping backlog and she had to check a box and approve the delay before she could complete the purchase. This order shipped today as promised.Review from Matt M

Ordered two nanny berry and two spice bush plants. The nanny berry bushes are fine but the spice bushes are quite and obviously dead. Due to their state, I can't imagine they looked alive when shipped. All specimens were shipped in a single wrapped plastic bag, the nanny berry were added first, the bag was rolled and then the spice bush were added. The roots of the spice bush were dry and moldy and were not allowed access to the liquid gel matrix the nanny berry roots were. I have placed them in filtered water as per the directions but like I said before, those spice bush plants have been dead a while. Read their return policy before you buy. Would not recommend buying from this nursery.Northern Ridge Nursery Response

Horrible, rude, condescending customer service! Purchased a tree on 04-17-2022. Tree didn't grow. I wasn't upset, I assumed it was my failure to grow a bare root tree. I just wanted to know what we did wrong and maybe try again. So on 07-14-22 I sent a friendly email asking what we could've done to help our tree to grow. I received a brash, harsh, patronizing email in response, stating all the things we had done wrong killed the tree and voided the warranty, and basically called me an idiot because I didn't follow the instructions. Assuming no offense was intended, I sent another friendly email, acknowledging fault was mine and was due to my failure to follow the instructions. I communicated how the plant had been delivered to our company's receiving department, and the instructions never made it to me, only the tree. But I acknowledged I was at fault the tree didn't grow. I asked for copy of the instructions that were lost by our receiving department and suggested that I might buy another tree and try again. I even included friendly emoji's in my email, like a smiley face, and a facepalm next to the part where I admitted fault. On 07-17-22, I received ANOTHER patronizing email, stating things like, "YOU WERE ASKED TO SAVE THE ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS", and, "YOU CANNOT USE THE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS FOR WARRANTY" and "YOU SHOULD USE A RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS ON YOUR NEXT ORDER." ****** patronizing, rude and condescending! I already acknowledged fault and clearly did not ask for any kind of warranty. And the plant was only $15! Like i'm going to waste my time pursuing a warranty on a **** $15 plant! Don't flatter yourselves Northern Ridge Nursery! **** terrible customer service! I hope their business suffers horrible failure due to their abhorrent customer service!Northern Ridge Nursery Response

My spicebushs (2 - 12" sticks) arrived so tightly bound with packing tape which squished the hydrogel onto the paperwork, ruining it (making the complicated warranty/refund process even more difficult then it already ridiculously was). I "followed the instructions" (but was later accused of not doing so. Note I am a Penn State Certified Master Gardner so I know a bit about gardening and planting bare root plants. I and other master gardners regularly purchase plants/trees on line from other nursuries and when there is the ocassion when a plant is not viable, the warranty process is very simple. Not so here. I know from years experience buying dormant plants that you have it time (weeks to months) before deciding. It is impossible to exercise part one of the 14 day warranty - this is a joke. Then when you give it time (I gave it about 2 months) and report to them that the twigs are dead and have failed their "scratch test" I was told I did not follow planting instructions - just not so. It's probably designed to do this but it just isn't worth the fights and many hoops (with no guarantee of a refund/replacement) that I would have to go thru (and pay for shipping to boot - insult on injury. ) They have my $26.00, I have 2 dead twigs. I'll never do business with them again and will let my cohort of master gardeners to steer clear. I would give them no stars if I could. Beware

This customer clearly misunderstood the terms of the refund and warranty policy. Refunds are only given on orders that were not planted and are returned in the original unopened package within (14) days of receipt. The warranty applies to plants that you intend to keep and is 2-part. The 1st part is the Healthy Delivery Guarantee, which within (48) hours of receiving your plants you contact us with an issue and evidence the plant is not healthy and we will send a fresh replacement free of charge. The 2nd part is the (1) Year Replacement warranty, whereas you use our prep, planting and care instructions and the plant still dies within the warranty period we will replace the plants for a small packing fee. Note that you must keep the prep, planting and care instructions document as your proof that you did indeed use our instructions. This requirement is printed in very large letters on the instructions document and says that no warranty claim will be approved without the document. This information is also on every webpage as well as in our checkout where you actually to check a box and approve the warranty before our checkout will allow you to complete your purchase.Review from Jessica W

I made my first order from North Ridge Nursery (through their "The Tree Store" website) late this winter—ordering their package of 2 saskatoon bushes as a inexpensive birthday present to myself ;-) ) I wasn't sure what to expect given the low cost of the shrubs, but they just arrived in the mail this week and I was impressed about how healthy they looked! They had a decent root system and easily passed the "scratch test" (the shrubs are dormant, so I lightly scratched the bark to make sure it was green underneath. I almost didn't even do the test because the stems on both of them still had their classic saskatoon maroon undertone to them, indicating good health) I had reached out a few times to customer service in the last two months and each time they quickly responded and made adjustments to my shipping schedule based on my requests. The amount of communication I received from North Ridge Nursery was on par with other plant/tree websites I have ordered from in the past. I just got the saskatoon bushes planted today and am excited to see them grow! At this point, it is clear that North Ridge Nursery provided me with healthy two healthy plants. If they die, that will be my own fault from lack of watering and difficult soil conditions where I wanted to plant them. You've made me a happy customer North Ridge!
