Last week, I took my partner's Buick in for a braking system inspection and emissions test. We were unbelievably unsatisfied and upset with the results of our visit. We feel we were incredibly overcharged for the service and the inspection wasn't thorough or identified key issues. For the braking inspection: we had 2 other reputable auto shops do a braking inspection for free and identify key issues such as rust and braking fluid issues which needed to be addressed right away. However, not only did lake country fail to recognize any of these issues and told us that "there wasn't anything wrong with the brakes" but they also charged us over $75 for the inspection. While they did identify, to their credit, a leak in one of our tires, they missed the most urgent of repair needs. We only had the car in the shop for approximately 30 minutes for both the emissions test and inspection. We feel this was an outrageous charge. This cost (over $75 for just an inspection) also wasn't disclosed to us ahead of time which is an awful business practice considering the inspection is something other auto shops typically do for little to no cost. While we'd be happy to pay for an inspection so the shop doesn't lose money over labor, 75 dollars for 30 minutes of work with missing obvious findings is unacceptable and the worst part is the receipt didn't include key details from the inspection such as amount of brake pads left. While other auto shops will even provide photos of issues or evidence of no issues, we were given nothing regarding the brakes. We paid over 75 dollars just for an inspection, specifically, a braking system inspection and they couldn't even leave us the simple info on how much brake pad was left which is the key piece of information to tell customers regarding brakes. I highly recommend to avoid this auto shop as much as possible. It's also outrageous that they couldn't even quote the repair work that we knew we needed without the 75 dollar inspection first.

Dear, **************** Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. At Lake Country Auto Care, we take customer satisfaction and vehicle safety very seriously. On February 10, 2025, you brought your vehicle to our shop for a brake inspection. Our certified technicians thoroughly examined your braking system and found it to be in good working order, with no immediate safety concerns or necessary repairs at that time. We always prioritize honesty and integrity in our evaluations, and we would never overlook or dismiss a legitimate safety issue. We understand that you later sought a second opinion and were informed that repairs were needed. While we respect the opinions of other professionals in the industry, we do not always agree with every recommendation made by other shops. Differences in assessments can sometimes occur due to varying diagnostic methods, interpretations, or even shop policies on preventive maintenance versus immediate repairs. Regarding the fee we charged for the brake inspection our standard procedure involves a thorough evaluation of the braking components, including checking the pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines, and overall system functionality. This process requires time and expertise from our certified technicians. If you would like, we would be happy to reassess your vehicle free of charge to go over any concerns you may have and ensure that you have a complete understanding of its condition. Your trust in our service is important to us, and we appreciate the opportunity to address any remaining questions. Please feel free to contact us at ************ if you would like to schedule a follow-up inspection or discuss this matter further. Sincerely, Lake Country Auto Care

The work and cost were reasonable. Unfortunately, I left my car with them for work on a Friday morning and though the hours posted online said they were open until 4pm, when my mom and sister went to retrieve it several minutes before 3pm, they found the business locked and no one answered the phone at 2:59 after circling the building. I said on the phone at 10:35am my mom and sister would be coming for it and they still closed early, leaving me without my car for the weekend (I work weekends) and making them drive there and back for nothing. The following Monday the guy in charge said they'd been closing at 3pm for years (meaning they had the wrong hours posted for years) and claimed he was there right up until 3pm. He had no answer for why no one answered the door and later claimed my mom's phone may have been a minute fast, calling it a "one minute difference." As I said, they arrived several minutes before calling and found the place empty. It wasn't a "one minute difference." He also later claimed to have called and left a message about the 3pm closing time. This is a flat-out lie, my phone showed no calls from the business after a 23 second exchange at 10:35am. Despite the inconveniences that they were undeniably responsible for, they refused any kind of compensation. Other businesses have done a lot better for less inconvenience. ****** **** **** took $75 off a windshield without asking because it arrived a day late. The shipping wasn't their fault, but they wanted to do right by their customer and I will use them again if I need to. Lake Country Auto Care won't be getting any business from me, my sister, my mother, my sister's friend they borrowed the car to go there from, or anyone we've told about it. A month later, Google still lists their closing time as 4pm, and the Better Business Bureau lists it as 5:30pm.

We are deeply sorry for this misunderstanding. However we did call and leave a message that we where closing at 3:00 on Friday. Yes our hours were not undated on ****** which was an oversite, however are correct on our website. We know it was inconvenient for you to not have your car for the weekend but we try or best to inform or customers of of hours when we are leaving the message that their car is completed. We do offer our customers to pay over the phone option, so this kind of situation can be avoided. Again we understand your frustration, but we wish you the best and hope you find a good fit for your car care needs.
