Our gutter guards were damaged (when either removing and/or reinstalling) when our new roof was put on. Not only were they damaged and not disclosed to us, but debris was left in all of the gutters causing the front one to clog, resulting in a wet basement wall right before winter. When it first rained after the roof was installed, we noticed the rain was not going into the gutter guards correctly, we believed the gutters guards needed to be realigned. When the gutter company came out to do the realignment that is when we found out they were damaged beyond repair, that the gutters were full of debris and the front gutter was clogged, which resulted in a wet basement wall. We needed to have this fixed right away due to the wet basement wall and winter approaching. I have contacted the roofing company numerous times. They are stating the right to cure. The copy of the contract that I signed does not have this in it. The least they could do would be to stand behind their workmanship. You did damage and covered it up and now when you are called out on it, you don't do the right thing. I had asked for the company to pay 1/2 of the bill and they won't even do that. You received my business off of a referral as well.

I contacted ***/****** on 10/13 when I had all the information on the damage and replacement of the gutter guards.  *** did respond to my email, please see attachment, he was sorry to hear I was having problems and ****** would reach out.  As you can see from the timeline on my letter that never took place and I needed to get the issue resolved before winter since the gutter had been clogged for 4 months and I had a wet basement wall.  Needless to say they have never offered to help with any of it.

On Thursday 10/13 ***** notified her project estimator, ***, that her gutter guards had been damaged, even though she had known since June that there was likely an issue. On Monday 10/17 she had those gutter guards replaced. Had we of known between June and October, a span of 4 months, that again there had been an issue we would have gone out and taken care of it since we have a gutter crew of our own that we use. Instead ********************* the 4 months to even make mention of the issue and then demands that we pay for half of her bill. While we have never denied that the damage could have been caused by us anything could have happened in that 4 months time. Furthermore, ***** paid her bill in full after several walk throughs with *** on 6/15.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The period of June to October was explained in the letter and emails that were sent to you. The rainwater was not flowing correctly into the gutter guards.  I thought it was an alignment issue due to the roofing being installed and was willing to pay a service call to have it taken care of.  I called the company that had installed them because I knew they were no longer being manufactured and I didnt want you to try to align them and end up damaging them.  The gutter guard folks were busy and could not get out until October 10th. When they came out in October that is when they told me that they were damaged and needed to be replaced. The urgency to replace them was because not only did you damage the gutter guards you left my gutters full of roofing debris that clogged the front downspout and caused a wet basement wall. This issue needed to be rectified before winter before I had structural damage. (I have a bucket with the debris and video showing how clogged it was.)
You were notified on 10/13 when I received the quote and you never once said *****, please dont have them replaced, we will come out and take care of it for you.  Not once have you offered to help with trying to get the basement wall dried out or reimburse me for the $70-$90 a month is costs to run a dehumidifier in the winter when the heat is on.  Meanwhile the basement wall is still wet.
If your roofing crew did not know how to take the gutter guards on and off without damaging them, then they should have contacted your gutter crew to come out and take care of it.  If you are going to damage someones property, you shouldnt cover it up and then hope the homeowner doesnt notice it.  You should surely not leave roofing debris in the gutters which will ultimately cause a wet wall or water in the basement.  This should be part of your standard cleanup process, yet there was debris in all of the gutters.
From looking at the roof from ground level and walk around of the property, yes, everything appeared to be in order.   If the yard was picked up of all debris, it would make sense to think that the gutters were clear of it as well.  I have gutter guards for a reason, so I dont ever have to get on a ladder to clean them out.  I didnt think I needed to get up on the ladder to see if they were damaged our debris would be left in them.  One would think that the project manager would have done a walk-through of the roof and gutters to make sure things were in order as part of their job.

      Regards,
