I am a Generac generator owner, it is at my residence. I live in ******, **. I am very disappointed with my purchase. We had a storm come through in May 2024 and our power went out and our generator would turn on and then turn off. We could not get it to stay on and power the house. Mind you, we have a service agreement so it is monitored and maintenance regularly. My husband also checks the oil every 12 hours when it is running even though it is recommended to do it every 24 hours. He checks it more frequently just to be safe. So we called the 1-800 number and they eventually sent out a technician to look at it. The technician told us it was a part called a brush or brushing and that it needed to be replaced. He replaced it and it worked fine. Fast forward to Hurricane Beryl, our power went out Monday, July 8 at about 6 am and the generator kicks in and powers the house. Great news, right? WRONG! Today, July 12 at around 4:30 am the generator stopped working again. It is giving us the same error code as last time so it appears to be the same part out again. A technician arrived at our residence July 15 (Monday) afternoon to do diagnostics on our unit. His evaluation was exactly what I thought it would be. It is the exact same part (a brush) that went out in May 2024 and of course he does not have the part in stock. The technician (Lane) said that he will have to order the part and it will take approximately three weeks to arrive. The technician also said that our generator is from the ***** ******** factory and that he is being told that the rotor in units from that factory were not calibrated correctly. He also told us that Generac is aware of the problem and at this time they are not doing anything to correct it. That is unacceptable. I paid a ton of money for this and you have sold me a lemon. How is replacing the part going to permanently fix it? It's not, it is just a band-aid until the part fails again. DO NOT BUY A GENERAC!Review from John G

Engine took terminal dump 12 hours before Hurricane ***** hit with only 3 hours running time on it. Was out of warranty from a calendar standpoint, but 3 hours? Really?! They basically said to F.O.A.D. And I had bought (2) 17500E's at $3000+ each +$1000+ electrical work. They also never even called. 4 different people sent 3 sentence emails saying too bad-so sad. I cannot say enough derogatory things about this company. They ****! Goodbye Generac, ***********Review from Mark K

I have a Generac hole house generator two and a half years old with 22hrs on it. The first time we ever needed it, it ran for 1/2 hour then quit, I contacted a certified Generac technician to repair it. When he turned in the warranty claim Generac denied the claim due to moving it to our new home by a certified Generac electrician. The electrician told me he never heard of that in all the years he's been installing them. We needed a new rotor and brush set $1250.00 We need help with this.Review from Santiago M

I purchased the generac generator from ******, in ************ last year. I never thought buying this brand I heard badly review more than good. While I do my own investigation on product I decided to but this for our home usage. Well, I tried to always be very fair and trustworthy to best of all information provided with proof. I've only used this product twice one during a Texas Tornado on May 2024, and now the Hurricane Berrel July 7th, 2024. And let me say I'm not very thrilled with this product. The first one cost me $308 because the O2 sensor was messed up and it was causing it to die while trying to start. So they fixed it now in this hurricane I can't even use it. I had to send my boy to my mother lost home so he doesn't get sick being he has asthma attack. The heat is so strong in our home because we're out of lights. I already lost my food several months ago and generac wouldn't even have the dignity or the courteous to refund me when I share my situation with them the first time and here's the case# *******. Now I call for second situation. Don't understand after speaking to the technician support saids maybe need repair again on another issue being the breaker on generator keeps flipping. This means again will have spoiled food, had to send my son elsewhere for his comfort, and not able to have no power to refrigerator. My phone can be powered and I have to go to work which is ridiculous because I can't even charge it. The support people that I spoke to today they gave me this new case number# ******* and can't even call me back. Is this not a joke for a great company that says they're so good for the homes. Now? Here's I handle disaster for a living. I have a lot of people that I assisted and I'm going to let them know never to purchase a generac. And for anyone to get back at you that's not so easy. They take forever. Me and my wife are burning up and I have to deal with this BS. I believe that I should get a refund. $1,025.Review from Darlene B

Just had a whole house generator installed 5 months ago. Massive storms came through our area a couple days ago and the first time generator had a chance to do its job, it epically fails; after 20 minutes. Was told I need a new motor ... on a brand new unit???? Customer service response was "sorry, these things happen." I don't see that disclosure anywhere on your marketing materials telling people you can feel safe and secure with a Generac. UNBELIEVABLE. Save your money; don't buy one.Review from JoAnn B

We had a Generac Power Cell solar system installed in November of 2020. Since then, it has malfunctioned 5 times. Every time it malfunctions, we call Generac to reset the system. Sometimes we do this for MONTHS until parts come in to repair it. The company that services the system waits for weeks or months to get parts. We spent over $37,000 for the system and its not reliable. Worst purchase we ever made.Review from Peter A

I have a less then 5yr old generac 22kw gen. The smm module has gone bad, and according to my local authorized generac dealer, the smm only has a 1yr. Warranty! I have the warranty right in front of me, and does not say anything about the smm being covered for only 1yr. It in fact is under the 10 yrs section of the warranty. What’s funny is the exact wording is 10yr extended limited!! I want nothing from this company, I just want others to read what a lot of generac customers are experiencing. My definition would be deceptive. Oh by the way, authorized dealer wants $350 to replace unit. Product is only $125. What a scamReview from Andrea W

I am very pro solar power. This is my second system.,but my first by Generac. installed by *********************** out of ****************, *******, approx. three years ago. It has been not functioning properly for most of its life. Many parts have failed & if our electricity goes out, we have no power although we spent a lot of money on a battery. 3 different repair companies have been out here to fix it. No one has been able to fix properly it so if our electricity goes out, we have no power even though we have a $38k system which I make payments to monthly, Weve heard many reasons why it doesnt work, but no one has fixed it. 10 visits from three different repair companies because the people that put it in left the state and do not manage their own repairs. I am disgusted and I am thinking of other options in remediating this ridiculous lack of customer service, and I have convinced many people over the years to get Solar. I will never do it again, my daughter is my neighbor she has solar. It works perfectly. We go to her house when the electricity goes out because she had it installed by a different company. I am considering litigation. It is time to make good on the promise of a fully functioning system with a 10 year warranty. There are many case numbers associated with my system and its all for the same thing *********************** get your act in order!Review from Roger M

Our regular electrical contractor just installed a 14KW Generac propane fueled standby generator. Seems to work well. Only warning to those considering purchasing one is to beware of potential interoperability issues with their Mobile Link system with your home wifi. Turns out their wifi modules are incompatible with some networking gear on the market. My less than six month old Deco System (made by TPLink) is in that group. Eventually their support team (which was responsive, courteous and knowledgeable) recommended a Netgear EX7200 network extender. Neither our contractor (who has installed Generacs for years) or I saw this issue documented anywhere. Generac either needs to update the wifi modules or document their wifi recommendations in an obvious way.Review from Charles M

Don't buy a Generac generator. Their customer support does nothing. I purchased a new Generac generator two years ago and it was supposed to start on it's own and NEVER did. I had to pay multiple times $200 to have their technicians check it out and repair it. To this day two years later it will not start on it's own and Generac has decided to close the case. Their generators are crap and their customer service is worse. Never buy a Generac product
