I wish there was a 0 option. On 1/28/25 my bank was sent a bank levy/tax warrant of $1885.22.Which they pulled from my checking account without my permission or knowledge leaving me confused and ultimately unable to make my mortgage payment that is due on 2/1/25.I had to call my bank to find out where the money went and a representative informed me the levy came from United Collections Bureau.I called UCB and spoke to a woman named ****** who informed me I still owed on both warrants, and I owed even more than what they took and I needed to set up a payment plan. That was a red flag because she never provided me with an amount nor was I ever sent letters emails or calls about what debt I owed to them.I was under the assumption that the tax debt had been resolved.Having dealt with collections agencies before they call multiple times a day. These people have never called me not one time.Every phone call has been initiated by **** tried to explain that I took care of it all on 10/11/24.She put me on hold to call INDOR to validate that I still owed for both of these warrants.I was on hold for approximately 1.5 *********** she was able to contact anyone at INDOR in that record time is beyond **** dont believe she contacted anyone at all actually. She came back on the line and stated yes ***** said both warrants are still active and in collections and on 1/2/25 the 90 day hold, again unaware of any holds because I have been in the dark since November, was up and they were allowed to collect again. However, they waited an additional 26 days with no notice on their behalf telling me that they were going to be collecting? She stated I could contact INDOR myself, which I did and was informed that she was in fact INCORRECT and it IS taken care of with the paper work that I submitted at the ********** on 10/11/****** I am stuck without money to make my house payment/pay my bills and wondering when I will be reimbursed the money that was wrongly taken from me without my permissionUnited Collection Bureau, Inc. I have recently been reached out to by this company. They call daily for a debt that I am no longer able to make. I have been searching for work (recently laid off), and have communicated this with them. They want me to reach out to my father, who I have been living with and is now supporting me and my two kids to pay a bill of nearly $600. The lady on the phone today said "What is one more bill for him?" I told her I had an interview next week and will make sure they are the first ones paid as soon as I am. The staff, all but one, have been rude and pushy. They demand payment, and speak down to their "customers" as if they are children. I understand I have a debt to be paid and was paying on it until I lost my job in September. I have worked in collections and you don't speak to people like I have been spoken too. Based on other reviews, this seems to be the same with others.United Collection Bureau, Inc. Response

This company is a disgrace and has no idea how to operate their website or how to get people to figure out why they levied our bank account without any prior knowledge. This is a scam between the state of *******, UCB and the banks namely Chase etc......they scam people out of hard earned money without even notifying them that this is going to happen and not allow people to be screwed when it comes to paying for a place to live, groceries etc. If I could I would completely change my vote for the Governor of Indiana and anyone else involved in this scam. Indiana should be ashamed to work with such a dishonest *********** like United Collections Bureau. You are all crooks and steal hard earned money from hard working citizens.United Collection Bureau, Inc. Response

I received a letter from UCB for a balance I had with a credit card that had gone to this agency, I called them and asked if they could settle the balance for half which they agreed to do, the rep I spoke with (*****) said that I would be receiving an email stating that the balance would be settled and that my account would be updated.. Since that initial phone call, I have not received 1 letter or email and I've had to call 2 additional times just to find out what is going on with my account. Now I can't even login to check anything and mind you I've already paid these people $283.. Why can't I access my account now? I would either like someone to email me with a receipt or email me with a letter stating that I settled.United Collection Bureau, Inc. Response

Awful, dishonest company. I was on a monthly payment plan since February and they always took their money promptly on payday, until in May they stopped. I thought I was done. Money was there as always but never taken out by them. Then a month later I get hit with a bank levy and they tell me it's because I missed payment. They said they reached out but I have no voicemails from them. Now they want the full amount due. No working with you and service reps are rude. There is no excuse why they didn't take their May payment, the money was always there. So they are dishonest liars on top of everything else!! I hope I never encounter this company again and I hope they go out of business!!United Collection Bureau, Inc. Response

The customer service representatives are extremely rude. They have no sympathy or empathy for the people whose lives are being turned upside down by the states extremely aggressive debt collection antics on people who are living paycheck to paycheck. I told the girl on the phone that i couldnt afford the payment plan she was proposing and asked for a lower amount over a longer period. She acted as if I owed her money personally. She kept trying to get off the phone with me even though I was trying to pay and negotiate something that I could afford. She was extremely rude and at the end of the call, after we finally reached a payment plan that I still cant afford she asked if I had any questions and I said that I did and she said thank you for calling have a nice day! I called back and asked for a management person so that I can file a complaint the girl who answer told me that there was no such person, but I can give my complaint to her. I told her thats not how businesses work and she said you have no idea what our policies are but if you dont want to give me the complaint then I cant help you.United Collection Bureau, Inc. Response

This business took money out of my bank account the day my paycheck hit leaving me no way to pay my rent or other bills. I called and it's supposedly from debt from 12 years ago that I wasn't aware we had. I am pretty sure we paid it but my records don't go back that far. When I tried to discuss options for paying this in a more reasonable manner I was told.theres nothing I can do because the money is in my account. Then I was hung up on. I called back and got someone else to discuss this with and they reiterated that they aren't willing to do anything except take the money from my account. There's no paperwork, no proof and no options!Absolutely deplorable companyReview from Brian M

They garnished every ***** to my name without proper contact, no phone calls, and mail sent to incorrect address due to "unpaid taxes". I contacted the ********** of ******* who explained that my debt was due to a clerical "employment verification error". Basically, I was charged taxes on wages that I already paid taxes on through income tax each pay period. When I tried explaining this to them and that I was actually OWED money by the ****************, which was confirmed by the ********** of *******, the person on the line told me I should "fire my accountant" and that they "didn't feel bad for [me]" and claimed that when I did my taxes it was my fault that I never paid the amount I owed. In reality, that is not at all what happened and I was in fact owed a refund my the state, which was what was in my tax return. Instead of listening to me that this was a clerical error made with the *** and IRS, which was CONFIRMED by them, I was treated like a criminal and accused of tax fraud. Now, this happened the day before I had to leave to get to my grandfather's funeral, which I was unable to attend due to the refusal to return my money or unfreeze my accounts. On top of that, they told me I would not receive any of my money back even if the state corrected their mistake, which they did promptly. They also refused to show me any legal documentation that they had or any itemized bills for what I "owed". If anything is criminal, it's this organization.United Collection Bureau, Inc. Response
